About Suzi Nakea
Nakea Kauai Vacation rentals offers three properties for rent, a one bedroom ocean bluff condo at Sealodge in Princeville (Kai Nani), a three bedroom beachfront home (Hale Kai) and a one bedroom beachfront cottage (Punana Aloha). The latter two are both located at the secluded end of incredible Anini Beach. All three properties are owned and lovingly cared for by Bob Nakea and his daughter Suzi. Bob and Suzi are native Hawaiians whose family's roots on Kauai go back to the 1800's. No attention to detail on the properties is overlooked, and each home is furnished with the comfort of its guests foremost in mind.
Why Suzi Nakea chose Kilauea
In the North Shore's idyllic setting you can: swim, surf; sunbathe, scuba dive or snorkel, wind surf (with rental boards and lessons available at Anini Beach Park), go shore fishing, book a deep water charter; beach comb, go horseback riding at Princeville Stables, watch polo games at Anini Beach, hike the island's awesome trails, enjoy gourmet dining, work out at the Princeville Spa (featuring daily and weekly memberships giving access to the latest exercise equipment, large lap pool, Jacuzzi, wet and dry saunas, and numerous aerobics, yoga, aqua -size and weight training classes), pamper yourself with a facial treatment or full body massage, whale watch, take a Na Pali Coast boat tour or a sunset sailing cruise in Hanalei Bay, book a helicopter tour of fabulous Waimea Canyon, play tennis, enjoy worldclass golfing (with discounts at Princeville's Makai and Prince courses), drive around the island and take in the sights, or just simply lie back and bask in the simple glory of being in one of earth's most naturally beautiful and peaceful places.
What makes this House unique
Hale Kai's location almost at the dead end of Anini Road (1/5 mile after paved road ends and gravel and sand road begins), where there is only a single row of homes along the beach, means that our guests enjoy quiet and privacy not found along most of the rest of Anini. The protecting reef (one of the largest in Hawaii) assures that the waves break far out and not on the shore, and the calm shoreline and shallow waters make the area in front of the house ideal for swimming and snorkeling most of the year (except during periods of high winter surf). It is a wonderful beach for small children as it has a smooth sandy bottom (no holes to worry about!).

All is well
This was our best Hawaii trip ever!!!
The location on Anini beach was perfect, house was impeccably clean.
Liked how you could hike up the steep hill to get to Princeville.
We look forward to a return visit!!
This is paradise!!!
This was everything we hoped for and more! We just wished we stayed a month instead of a week, next year!
There were so many great things about this property. The location is off the beaten path but still close to shopping and restaurants. We love to golf and the Princeville Makai has a great 3 day flex pass that was really reasonably priced.
The home is clean and well cared for. The reef makes the beach fantastic for little ones swimming and snorkeling as the surf breaks far out.
Just a note: I have stayed at several VRBOs in the past and they have all been really well stocked with the basics (shampoo, condiments, cleaning supplies, laundry detergent, beach snorkeling and water toys) this property was not as well stocked as some. So in an effort to ease your travel I would advise you to stop at a store on your way to the home and get shampoo, conditioner, lotions, laundry detergent, (extra TP and paper towels if your stay is more than 3-4 days), basic condiments, some basic cleaning supplies, and the rest of your groceries.
Out door chairs and table for the deck are provided.... which has the best view ever! 6 lounge beach chairs are provided. There was no snorkeling equipment so make sure to pick that up.
There is a hair dryer and curling iron, but the hair dryer has a bit of a short in it so it operates periodically.
WiFi was excellent. There is no cell phone service but if your phone can use WiFi to call out, you're set. Unlimited long distance from the land line is available. We had no issues keeping in touch with home.
The last bit of road to the home is really bumpy but it is that way for a reason. Keeps the unwanted car traffic to a minimum. All in all we had such a nice time. Weather was rainy almost every day but we drove to the sun and then came home to relax. I would recommend so many things. We went in January and hiking was muddy and slick for sure but oh my the scenery was amazing. We snorkeled, surfed, golfed and hiked to our hearts content. We saw whales, bottle nose dolphins and spinner dolphins, manta rays and turtles and loads of fish. Mahalo to Suzi and Bob for sharing this amazing property!
We'd love to go back and stay in the area again.
As many other reviewers have mentioned, the house and location are great and Suzi and Bob are fabulous hosts.
They are both very responsive to any issue or question.
This was our 3rd time back to Kauai after previously staying in Lihue and on the southeast side.
It's definitely a bit quieter on the north side.
We had intermittent showers the week we were there, but it didn’t really impact our time on the beach except for one day.
It was a bit windy a few days which did limit somewhat the paddleboarding.
We've stayed in several Airbnb’s in Hawaii and on the mainland and this was our first VRBO rental.
We rented the home for a week for 3 couples and had plenty of room to spread out.
I normally prefer to stay somewhere with access to a pool, but the home and beach access won me over.
While the beach is used by others on the island, the easy access and proximity to the home worked out well.
The beach never felt overcrowded and was very quiet in early mornings and evenings. The view from the deck is amazing and I have several rainbow photos to prove it.
It was nice to have a large washer and dryer available to keep swimwear and towels fresh.
Several of use did take advantage of the trail after crossing the stream nearby to walk to the shopping center/market.
This time of year, the trail is fairly muddy and trickier to navigate.
It's about a 15-minute drive to get to the shopping area as you go back out the way you come in originally.
Anini drive does have some potholes the last third mile to navigate.
We rented paddle boards from an Anini Paddleboards via messaging on Google Maps and arranged drop off and pick up without any issues.
While snorkeling and paddle boarding there was one turtle sighting and numerous fish, especially up the beach toward the rocks.
We used the grill a couple times to make dinner and saved the cost of eating out.
The home didn't have much in the way of spices etc. and assume that might be a VRBO rule and/or issue with storing food in the humid weather.
I’d bring an Amazon Firestick if you have one, DVD’s if desired, and stop along the way from the airport for coffee for the Mr. Coffee, tea and morning food.
Bring snorkeling equipment and water shoes for the coral and rocks further out from the beach and laundry detergent/softner sheets if you can.
Can't wait to return.
