Great place for family reunion
We stayed on Shawna's home for four days to celebrate my 60th birthday. Had nine adults and four small children. The home is perfect for a large group. Open floor plan provided areas for us all to sit and talk. The deck outside with the fireplace was great for fires, smores (nicely provided) and games. The kitchen was fully stocked. They even had tippy cups for small children. The small lake a short walk away is some of the best trout fishing I have ever done. We caught and released over a dozen fish some as big as eight pounds. We also hit hiking trails a short walk away and the ATV rentals were right down the street. Perfect secluded location, yet close enough to town to make it convenient. Great time.
Beautiful Log Cabin
Our family, which includes 5 children 9 and under, truly enjoyed our stay in this home. The views were beautiful! It is very clean and tidy, which was very important to me. The furnishings are nice and well appointed. The location is pretty private. Great nature and Colorado books are available and a fully stocked kitchen was very convenient. Plenty of linens and extra blankets too.
The welcome pail with all the ingredients to make smores was a hit with the children. We really enjoyed the outdoor fireplace on the deck. We roasted hotdogs and marshmallows and enjoyed hot chocolate out there.
Our first morning we saw a mama and baby moose in the backyard and many hummingbirds came to the feeder.
We loved being able to just hike right from the backyard; no need to pack up and load up the van.
It was nice to be down the road from Winding River Resort, where you can horseback ride and they have a small baby animal petting zoo for free. The Colorado River is there too and our children loved playing there. The lake within walking distance was nice too, just wish there was a canoe we could've used there.
We rented a pontoon at Beacon Landing Marina; super friendly and reasonable rates.
Grand Pizza on the Boardwalk had delicious pizza.
We had such an enjoyable time on our first visit to Colorado and would definitely stay here again and recommend to others.
Clean, spacious, comfortable in a cozy environment.
My family LOVED it here and an amazing place to explore the Rockies!
Relaxing Weekend at Beautiful Nodding Pines
My friends and I recently enjoyed a long weekend at Nodding Pines, and I couldn’t imagine a better place for a summer vacation. The lodge was quite spacious, with plenty of room for everyone. Even with a dozen of us we didn’t feel crowded. The covered porch in back was my personal favorite, and we made good use of the complimentary s’more supplies.
The kitchen was very well stocked with everything needed to prepare our own breakfasts, lunches, and dinners. Between the collection of DVDs, board games, and even a set of horseshoes in the back, we had plenty of fun to fill in the hours between visiting the Rocky Mountain National Park and the cute mountain town of Grand Lake.
Contact with the owner was easy and attentive, and all the provided information made the process straightforward. I would recommend Nodding Pines for anyone else looking to experience the beautiful Colorado mountains from the comfort of a well-kept lodge. My group had a great time, thank you Shawna!
Wonderful property!!! Great house, great location, lots of extras. Highly recommend.
The property was wonderful! The house was in pristine condition. Lots of extras, such as games, movies, ping-pong, & fire pit. The owner was very prompt to respond to inquiries. We would highly recommend this property & hope to go back again!!
Standing Ovation for Nodding Pines Lodge
Nodding Pines Lodge provided the perfect vacation home for our extended family to share a week in Colorado. It is situated in a perfect location that allows easy access to The Rocky Mountain National Park and close proximity to the Village of Grand Lake. We would book this VRBO again!
This beautiful and spacious log home i cared for in many attentive ways. It is immaculate with very comfortable furnishings. The fabrics and accessories bring the mountain and wildlife setting inside. The lovely knotty pine paneling frames the wooded outdoor vistas of the RMNP to the rear and the woods and distant mountain peaks to the front and warms the interior living spaces. The spacious first floor rec room is an added bonus with ping pong table and area for hiking or skiing gear.
From chipmunk to hummingbirds, the wildlife we encountered in Nodding Pine Lodge’s neighborhood was spectacular! During a hailstorm, we had a moose in our front yard; on our departure day, we had a black bear scamper up the backyard slope. One morning, a moose and her baby meandered past our drive into the back hill country.
***** The covered back deck with beautiful fieldstone fireplace was a highlight for our family! We enjoyed the delicious s’mores treats ingredients that the owners left for us. The children did crafts in the day on the picnic table; the adults played cards and visited at night. An important memory-making place!
**** For our family with grandchildren, the guest access to the washing machine and dryer was a real luxury.
