About Rebekah Wilson

We (Dan and Rebekah) were raised in the Kansas flatlands, but we each vacationed in Colorado while growing up. We finally made the leap to the high country 6 years ago, and we have taken full advantage of this giant playground ever since our move.

Dan and Rebekah currently live in Windsor, located in northeast Colorado. Dan works with the University of Colorado Health System, and Rebekah retired from employment with this health system two years ago. She currently enjoys her work with a number of civic organizations, as well as master gardening, welding, and other hobbies.

Dan and Rebekah enjoy every aspect of this wonderful Colorado environment. They are avid fly-fishermen, hunters, hikers, and general outdoorsmen.

The couple enjoys a sizable amount of time in the mountains. Dan completed his due-diligence in investigating options for a mountain home. We wanted a location that would appeal to all ages, all year round, and we wanted activities that involved mountains, water, wildlife, and a community atmosphere. After looking at dozens of options, we found that Grand Lake met all of our needs.

Rebekah Wilson purchased this cabin in 2013

Why Rebekah Wilson chose Northwest

We spend a sizable amount of time in the mountains. Dan completed his due-diligence in investigating options for a mountain home. We wanted a location that would appeal to all ages, all year round, and we wanted activities that involved mountains, water, wildlife, and a community. We have several children, and this location and property provides a central location for family members to walk or ride bikes to nearly every amenity within Grand Lake.

What makes this cabin unique

One look at this rustic cabin would help anyone understand why we purchased this home. It is nestled within aspen trees in a peaceful neighborhood - and it is within walking distance of downtown, Grand Lake and Rocky Mountain National Park.

This cabin has history - several Grand Lake locals have lived in this cabin over the past 80 years, including a previous Grand Lake mayor. It's knotty-pine

interior and quaint fireplace looks like a Norman Rockwell painting.

We purchased this cabin, as well as the cabin next door, as they belonged together in a 'Jack and Jill' cottage setting. Some of our family and friends have enjoyed using both cabins to have family gatherings.

Guestbook comments from the owner

This cabin was absolutely wonderful! My boyfriend and I rented it for one night to celebrate his birthday and it was perfect. The location is close to town and also only a few miles from Rocky Mountain National Park which makes exploring so easy! It was so great to come back to the cozy cabin after hiking around the park. Rebekah is the most wonderful and helpful host! We arrived to the cabin to find some snacks and a birthday card! Through the entire reservation process she was extremely attentive and kind. Her cabin made for one of the most relaxing trips and I highly recommend checking it out! We hope to go back in the summer!

Cute & Cozy Cabin

  • 5 of 5

This property was such a cute and cozy place. It had a small charcoal grill so you could cook out and also a very nice fire pit that took the chill off while star gazing. It was a very short walk to the town of Grand Lake where there were numerous bars and wonderful restaurants.

We also enjoyed the 4th of July fireworks which we were able to see from the cabin - all we had to do was climb the hill at the back of the cabin for a very awesome view!!

All in all it was a wonderful 3 days of fun.

Good for price

  • 3 of 5

If you're vacationing for Rocky Mountain National Park, Grand Lake is much less crowded compared to Estes Park. It's a cute little charming town and great if you're looking for a quiet, relaxing vacation. We really enjoyed it. The cabin was small but fine for two and fairly affordable. The best part is that it's really close to town. We walked to dinner every night, which was really nice.

A Great Pre-Ironman Getaway

  • 5 of 5

This cabin was the perfect little getaway before my race at Ironman Boulder. It is within walking distance to town(~0.3 mi), but far enough away to feel a little more remote. The place was the perfect size for my wife and I. The bed is so comfy we both slept so well.

The cabin is the perfect base camp for excursions in RMNP. I would also recommend hikes to Adams and Cascade falls on the East Inlet and North Inlet trails, respectively. Both trailheads are just down the street. You can checkout my pics here: http://instagram.com/bri_tri .

We had great dinner at the Stagecoach and The Terrace and breakfast at the Fat Cat Cafe. Grand Lake is awesome for SUP-ing too. You can rent them at RockyMountainSUP.com which is right on the lake.

Cabin has full kitchen and most things you need. Only thing I wished they had was a blender(for AM smoothies), but this is not usually a requirement for many people. :) If you need to tune-in, they do have DirectTV. There is no WIFI in cabin, but fortunately there was good AT&T cell service there so I was able to use my phone as a personal hotspot. There was also Xfinity Wifi coming up that you could purchase time on, but I didn't need that.

Car: recommended

Grand Lake, Colorado, is a gorgeous village surrounded on three sides by mountains. Multiple lakes, including Grand Lake (largest natural lake in CO), Shadow Mountain Lake, and Lake Granby (second largest body of water in CO) are all sheltered among the mountains. This combination of mountains and lakes offers year-round entertainment for visitors.

This 1940's cabin is nestled in a peaceful neighborhood in the midst of Grand Lake village. Visitors can enjoy nearly all Grand Lake amenities within walking distance! Horse-back riding, snowmobiling over the Continental Divide, fishing (including winter ice-fishing), shopping, swimming, boating, hiking, a fantastic repertory theatre, and good restaurants are all within blocks of this quaint cabin.

A short drive or horseback ride allows hunters easy access to National Forest. Cross-country skiing on miles of groomed paths is located at the Nordic ski center, approximately 3 miles from the cabin. This same short drive provides access to beautiful scenic golfing in the warmer weather. Downhill skiers can enjoy the smaller, family-oriented amenities at Granby Ranch (15 miles), or a larger variety of downhill options at Winter Park (30 miles). A wonderful repertory theatre provides a variety of live shows nightly in the summertime.

On a typical evening, enjoy a beverage while seated on a giant porch swing at the Grand Lake Lodge looking out at a stunning view of the mountains, lakes, and village, enjoy an evening of bowling and homemade pizza at Grand Lakes Bowling, or just enjoy the quiet solitude of this peaceful cabin in the village.

Moose, deer, fox, bear, and other animals have wandered through this cabin's neighborhood, and a walk or drive into Rocky Mountain National Park at dusk will normally yield many elk and moose sightings.
