Great Location! 2 Br/1 Bath Cabin On Water Only 2 Blocks From Downtown Boardwalk
This cozy, centrally located cabin is nestled in the pine trees, with a trout stream (kayakable) that empties into Grand Lake out the back door. The cabin sleeps 6 with 2 bedrooms (a queen size bed in one, a full size bed in the other with electric mattress pads and down comforters!), while the living area has two rocking recliners and a queen size sofabed couch with a memory foam mattress. It is well-appointed with a modern kitchen (refrigerator with ice maker, microwave, oven/range, dishwasher, Keurig coffee maker). Wood paneled walls and ceilings with wood floors throughout. Dining table seats 4 (6 with leaf) with 4 more places at the breakfast bar. Bathroom with tub/shower and cable tv in living room. Cozy up with the gas stove while enjoying the views of the mountains, lake and stream through the large windows on 3 sides. Keep an eye out for the neighborhood fox and moose!
Year round you can enjoy downtown Grand Lake with shopping, restaurants and entertainment, antiquing, live musical theater in Grand Lake, museums, and nearby fitness center, health/beauty spa, and basketball. And, of course, wildlife viewing (esp., moose, elk, deer, fox).
Summer visitors can enjoy boating, rafting, kayaking, sailing, water-skiing, lake swimming, fishing, golf, tennis, biking, mountain biking, dirt biking, hiking, hunting, rock climbing, horseshoes, miniature golf, horseback riding, and hot air ballooning. And the Rocky Mountain Repertory Theater has a great summer schedule of Broadway musicals. So much to do...so little time!
Snowmobilers can sled in/sled out (snow permitting) to enjoy the snowmobile capital of Colorado, with over 100 miles of trails. Grand Lake is at the west entrance of Rocky Mountain National Park with cross country skiing and snowshoe trails galore. World class downhill skiing and snowboarding at Winter Park only 35 miles away and Steamboat Springs 93 miles down the road, with Sol Vista, a small local ski hill, just outside Granby, about 15 miles. Or enjoy the hot springs at Hot Sulphur Springs, a mere 23 miles from town. Or stay in the area and enjoy the many activities at Rocky Mountain National Park and in town during the winter, especially during Christmas and New Year's. Don't miss the holiday show at the Rocky Mountain Repertory Theater and the New Year's Eve celebration with frozen fireworks.
Come enjoy the crisp, clean air, beautiful starry nights, and majestic views of Grand Lake and Mount Baldy at our little slice of heaven. (please, no pets and no smoking!)

About Jeannette McDonald
Hi! We are Don and Jeannette, empty nesters and learning to enjoy our second childhood. We met in college, though never dated, went our separate ways, had families and careers. In 2009 Don showed up at Jeannette's office to tell her that he'd loved her for 35 years. Life conspired to bring us together and now we're exploring anything and everything life has to offer…mostly together!
Jeannette McDonald purchased this Cabin in 2014
Why Jeannette McDonald chose Grand Lake
Don currently lives in Colorado Springs where he plans to work for 2 more years before retiring. Jeannette lives in Wisconsin. We were looking for a place to start over where we could enjoy Colorado treasures. We were intrigued with Grand Lake because of the laid back town, the proximity to Rocky Mountain National Park, and all the recreation possibilities in the area. When we saw this cabin on the water (great for kayaking, which we love) and so close to the main street in town, we couldn't believe our luck. We are thrilled with our purchase and can't wait to retire and live here full time. Until then, we're willing to share our piece of heaven with you!
What makes this Cabin unique
First and foremost we are in awe of the views of the mountains, lake, river, and trees surrounding the cabin. And, as they say, everything is location, location, location! On the lake and only two blocks from town!!??!!! Incredible. Next we were impressed with the quality of the cabin. Wonderful workmanship, nicely finished and modernized. Although it's small we have plans to add a second floor to make room for our respective families to come and share it. We just can't believe that we are lucky enough to be able to live in this paradise.

Quiet, restfull and peaceful retreat...!
A great place to stay to unplug, and just take in the beauty. Cabin was very cozy and has everything you need to just kick back. Loved our time there....
Cozy and Comfortable
Beautiful view! Right by the water and near town. I had an amazing time!
Perfect Family Retreat
Beautiful cabin in an excellent location. Very cozy place to go to unwind !
Location location location!
This house is in the most gorgeous spot - right in between a stream / river (100 feet away) that flows right into grand lake (which is 500 feet away). The view from the upstairs rooftop deck is phenomenal! Fir trees all around.. we enjoyed a bottle of wine while star gazing one night and it was heaven. The house is great too - the kitchen is exceptionally well equipped with all things a good cook would want - sharp knives, Tupperware, a waffle maker, even things like oatmeal, hot cocoa, and all condiments you’d need are in the fridge. The floor to ceiling glass windows all around in the living area are wonderful - you feel like you’re right in the woods in the most peaceful spot. We had a fantastic stay and can’t wait to come again. The owners are incredibly helpful and accommodating as well, and are in touch making sure you have everything you need. Cannot wait to stay again in this peaceful, cozy little cabin space! Thanks Jeanette for everthing.
As advertised...great cabin
Quiet and peaceful. Loved the gas stove and watching TV in the recliners. It had everything we needed for the week. It is a small community but this cabin sits on the outside so you don't look out the window into another cabin. Felt private and the view was great. Saw the fox once on Friday evening. There were 4 of us and it was comfortable. Highly recommended.
Adorable, lovely and most of all quiet. This cabin has everything you need. Everything is well thought out. Town is just a few minutes away. The enterance to Rocky National Park is 10 mins away. The cabin has several fox that visit almost ever night. We are planning to come back next year already.
About 2 miles from the western entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park. There is also the Rocky Mountain Repertory Theater performing Broadway musicals in the summer and a winter show in December.
