Vineyard View Cottage in Fair Play - located on Winery Estate!

Vineyard View Cottage is located on the winery estate of Busby Cellars, an award-winning Vineyard and Winery in the Fair Play wine region.

The Cottage is 1,200 sq. ft. and features 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms; sleeps a maximum of 6 people. The open and inviting floor plan is perfect for groups and entertaining. A large redwood deck leads to a spectacular, panoramic vineyard view that overlooks 15 acres of beautiful wine grapes and amazing sunsets.

The home features a gourmet kitchen, spacious living room, well-appointed rooms, BBQ, patio dining, and more. A television and DVD player is provided in each bedroom as well as in the living room. Washer and dryer is also included. Luxuriate in comfort with cozy cotton towels, high-thread count bed sheets, and comfy beds.

Four wineries are located within 2 miles of the Cottage, and 30+ wineries are located in the Pleasant Valley and Fair Play wine regions, just 5 minutes away. A 15-minute drive leads to the Shenandoah Valley wineries and all of the diverse attractions of Amador County. A coffee shop and gourmet restaurant are just one mile from the Cottage, and a grocery store, pizza parlor, Chinese restaurant, and pub are 5 minutes from the Cottage.

Nearby Jenkinson's Lake/Sly Park features wonderful hiking trails, picnic areas, boat rentals, and trout and bass fishing. Historic Placerville is just 30 minutes away, as is Apple Hill, a classic family destination with over 50 ranches, wineries, breweries, crafts, and lots of kid-friendly activities. South Lake Tahoe is just an hour's drive from the Cottage.

We accept house-trained, well-behaved, well-traveled dogs, which will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. There is a $30 per dog per night fee, along with a fully refundable $300 dog deposit. Dogs only; no other animals allowed. Dogs are not allowed on any furniture or beds in the Cottage.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this lovely cottage. If you’re seeking a quiet, bucolic getaway, this is property is for you! It was very clean and comfortable. The stars are amazing at night. We loved that our dog had plenty of land to run and play freely. The owner was very hospitable from the time that we arrived. Not to mention, we went to the winery, which is on the same property, and the owner was wonderful. We had a great time! I highly recommend this cottage.

Wonderful stay

We visited to celebrate a family member's birthday with wine tasting around the area. Everything with the house was great -- it couldn't have been easier and the location was central to the wineries we wanted to visit. We enjoyed the multiple areas to sit outside with lovely views of the vineyards. The bottle of Busby Cellar's wine awaiting us when we arrived was much appreciated and we enjoyed visiting the Busby tasting room to meet our host.

I cannot express how beautiful and amazing this property is in person. I spent the weekend with 3 of my dearest friends and we had the best time together. Eating drinking and dancing. Comfortable property and a very helpful owner

We really enjoyed our stay and the property was better than the pics show. The owner was very helpful and recommended restaurants, as we were arriving on a holiday. Also, since our kids headed to ski and we didn't have a car - he hosted us for a wine tasting and even made arrangements including transport with neighboring winery so my wife and I had a very enjoyable day on our own.Highly recommend this property and you can reach out to him directly for future reservations.

The only recommendation is that another mirror be added.There is only 1 mirror located in the bathroom, for two bedrooms. Location is quiet with plenty of parking, towels, dishes and well equipped kitchen.

A very pleasant stay

We were in town for an event at the Ranch at Stoney Creek and some wine tasting in the area. The house was perfect for our family! It overlooked a beautiful vineyard and had a large yard for our grandsons to run around and play. The large front porch was also very nice for ending our day watching the sunset. We had plenty of nice towels, including beach towels if you venture out to the river or Suttons Creek. For groceries we would recommend Holiday Market. It’s about 10 minutes away and has a good selection. We really enjoyed our stay!

Great property and clean

The house is located on a knoll above the vineyards with a large covered front deck to enjoy your morning coffee or celebrate a beautiful sunset. The property is in wine country and close to other vineyards for ease of wine tasting or exploring the surrounding area. There are some restaurants in the area if you don’t feel like cooking or use the well equipped kitchen to whip up a meal. The cooking pans could use updating but everything else was spot on! The hosts were outstanding and easy to reach for questions or concerns. The checkin/out process was very easy and not complicated. They provided all the essentials and we very much enjoyed our stay. Thank you!!

Wonderful place, beautiful surroundings, peaceful and fun

I make most of my online purchase decisions based, largely, upon reviews and in the case of Vineyard View Cottage, that was exactly what I did and I was not disappointed! My wife and I stayed 3 nights for our first Thanksgiving away from home with my daughter and her husband, their two teenage boys and one other adult grandson. I wish we'd had a little less rain so we could explore the countryside a little more, but we did have a couple hours one day and took a nice long walk. It was great to be away from city life, traffic, etc. and we had a memorable Thanksgiving weekend. All the amenities listed were there and then some. I can't think of a thing we lacked. I highly recommend this terrific cottage for anyone needing a peaceful get-away. You will find it here!

Wine Country Gem

This is a basic but great rental. The mattresses are firm, but I like that, so I was very comfortable. The blinds close nice and tight so that you can sleep in without the sun waking you up. The home was spacious with a very functional kitchen and plenty of hot water for showers. The couches were comfy to hang out on in the evening. It’s close to all the Fair Play wineries and a Dollar General for any last minute things you might need. The only thing I would comment negatively on was the amount of dust and dirt on the blinds, window sills and in the corners. Not a huge deal, but the cleaning service should step up their game a bit. I’m sure the owner, Elliot, is paying them a decent amount, and he should get what he pays for. Overall, a fantastic place to stay while in the wine country. Next time, I’ll bring my dog with me. Thanks, Elliot!

Founded in 1999, proprietors Sherrie and Elliot Graham purchased a picturesque 34-acre parcel of rolling hills and sprawling oak and pine trees. The property, which is a portion of the old Meyer’s Ranch, was bare with the exception of a historic barn, once a notable stopping point for miners to change horses en route to Placerville. The Grahams’ dream of owning and operating a vineyard and winery was born in the early nineties, when Sherrie worked as a retail wine manager and buyer. Like many enthusiasts of Sierra Foothills wines, Elliot and Sherrie first explored Napa and Sonoma before discovering the splendor of El Dorado County. By this time, Sherrie was working as an advertising executive and Elliot worked in sales in Sacramento. A three-year search for the “perfect” property followed, before finally finding and purchasing part of Meyer’s Ranch on Grizzly Flat Road in Somerset. Both left their jobs, relocated, and concentrated their efforts on transforming the barren property into their dream of a home, land, vineyard, and winery.

Why they chose this property

In 2017, we completed construction of our dream house, which is also located on the vineyard property. After moving into our new house, we decided to transform the house we called home for 17 years into The Vineyard View Cottage. We are now proud to offer it to anyone who enjoys the peace and tranquility of living in a vineyard.
