Cozily set up for two with a comfy queen size bed, enjoy cooking and dining in the cute kitchenette with new, quiet, refrigerator, 2-burner gas stove (no oven), microwave, coffee maker, toaster, blender, pots, pans & dishes. Or use the propane BBQ while enjoying the beautiful outdoors. Equipped with gas heater and new, quiet, A/C. Explore the quiet surroundings, stroll to Crane Creek moments away, then rest under the shady oaks and pines. (See also our sister listing #869612, Oak Wood Cabin, for additional two person accommodation.)

Foresta is a great starting point to various Yosemite destinations, Yosemite Valley, Tuolumne Meadows, the Merced & Tuolumne Groves of Sequoias and many hiking trails. Offering Free satellite TV, WIFI and HughesNet Gen4 internet, Verizon's 4G network is also available.

Foresta is located within the boundaries of Yosemite National Park. Now known as an “inholding”, Foresta (Big Meadow) started as a pioneering area. Two ranches (McCauley and Meyers) provided beef, pork, dairy and vegetables to the Yosemite Valley hotels. In the twenties, it was sub-divided and given the name of Foresta. Created as an “artistic” community, musical gatherings were held by the creek. After the Great Depression, many lots were sold for back taxes. Approximately 75 homes were in use, either full time or seasonally, before the 1993 A-Rock fire destroyed most of them. More than half of the homes have now been rebuilt. Fire has been a defining force in this area, showcasing Mother Nature's endless cycles.

This was perfect!

  • 5 of 5

This small cabin was exactly what my husband and I were looking for! Especially after camping in and around the park earlier in the week it was a great place to end our vacation to Yosemite. The location was perfect and it was so quite. We used the gas grill two nights to cook at "home" in stead of fighting the crowds in the park. The owners were great to work with and were always a text or phone call away when we had questions about the area. We will be back!

Owner's Response: Thanks for the 5 stars! Relax away from the crowds and sleep in a real bed. Camping is fun, but having a touch of civilization while enjoying the splendors of Yosemite can’t be beat. We are glad you enjoyed it and will welcome you back.

Great little cabin inside the Yosemite National Park

  • 5 of 5

Not far from Yosemite valley so we were able to get in the park early before the crowds and find good parking. Very secluded but beautiful walking in that area. Cute little cabin. Nice and informative hostess

Great, quiet location!

  • 5 of 5

We loved staying at this property located in Yosemite National Park! It is so quiet, which we loved after our days filled with all the sights, sounds and other visitors. The cabin has everything you need. It's comfortable and quaint! The managers were very responsive. They gave us info about hikes, grocery shopping, and restaurants.

Take the time to hike the roads around the property and you will get another view of Half Dome and the Crane Creek!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review of your stay at the Shady Grove Cabin in Foresta, Yosemite. Yes, there are wonderful walks right from the home to explore the creek, a waterfall, Big Meadow and the old barns, and even the views of Half Dome from a different angle. It's fun to get up early and walk around, lots of birds, and a quiet place to enjoy. Please return sometime!

Really great cabin!

  • 5 of 5

Cabin was far enough away from main area of the park to let you get away from the crowds. Close enough it only took 15 or 20 minutes to get to the valley. We rented bikes in the valley which was perfect. It was a busy weekend with the holiday so we avoided valley until Monday. Cabin had everything we needed. If planning to sit on porch bring cushions in as they do get wet overnight. Grill worked perfect. Outside of cabin very primitive but inside was very nice, clean and had all we needed. The area the cabin sits in did have some fire damage but there was new regrowth. Nice to have fan. Lots of towels provided. We had a great time! Do go climb Sentinel Dome....view worth every step!!!!!

Very nice basic cabin

  • 5 of 5

This cabin had everything I needed. I spent most of my time on the trails but to have a comfortable place to come home to and in the park was great. The tv cable is basic and internet a bit slow but that's not why your in Yosemite. It a very quiet area I met a few folks from the area and they were very friendly. Make sure you take the left hand fork at the closed road and you can enjoy a beautiful water fall all to your self! I could ever take a mid day break and then take a late day adventure. Don't forget to gaze at the stars before tuning in for the night.
