About Charles A Ellison

After 25-years of fast-paced life in Denver, we decided to pursue our dream of going 'back west'. Having grown up in South Central Coloradi, I had always dreamed of returning home.

After settling into our new Westcliffe home I discovered an opportunity to combine my passion for hospitality and meeting new people. I try to greet every guest and have earned 100% 5-Star ratings under a competing short-term rental platform.

I am just 1 mile or a cell call away and tend to go over board in terms of creating a hassle free and relaxing experience for every guest

Charles A Ellison purchased this house in 2017

Why Charles A Ellison chose Westcliffe

Westcliffe is RAW Colorado... like the Aspen was 50 years ago. It's a beautiful combination of pristine mountain views, ranching and outdoor activities. Passively viewing or actively hiking, fishing or hunting it's a fit for the weary and outdoor enthusiasts.

From high-speed Internet to binoculars, most every need was anticipated. And as one guest said in her five-star rating, "even the garage is ridiculously clean".

Another guest stated that "it's so quite that all I could hear was my thoughts...".

What makes this house unique

Tranquilo (Spanish for tranquility) capture it's relaxing environment and well provisioned home.

Privacy and star gazing is enhanced by being over the hill from Westcliffe, yet town is a short 1.5 miles away. The closest neighbor is 100 yards away in a new development (Shadow Ridge) on the outskirts of the Town of Westcliffe. So it's quiet, safe and peaceful... and a perfect place to see stars and the mountains.

Scenic Lake DeWeese is two turns and 6 miles to the north. A few miles beyond that is some of the finest fly fishing in Colorado.

Comfortable and quiet!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our first stay at this beautiful place on the outskirts of picturesque Westcliffe.

The home was spacious, comfortable and incredibly quiet, and we enjoyed the mix of the gorgeous mountains views and all the outdoor stuff that goes with that, the proximity to town, and the chance to rest and quiet indoors in a place that offers all the comforts of home...and more.

Well-Appointed "Dark Skies" Home

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful, 2 night, stay at this home in Westcliffe! The bedrooms were very spacious and the beds, comfortable. The kitchen had most spices, coffee and coffee filters, plenty of dishes glasses, utensils, dish soap, hand soap, garbage bags, and on and on. And, importantly, the whole home was very clean! Charles, our host, was very helpful too! I highly recommend this home! We came for the dark skies and we were not disappointed - beautiful!

Most guests spend most of the first few days soaking in the views of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains by day and star/moon gazing by night. 1880-90's mining ruins, including a wooden shaft head, are within walking distance or just a few minutes on one of the 4 mountain bikes provided.

Dark Skies International designated Westcliffe as one of only nine Dark Skies Communities globally. Being on the far edge of Westcliffe, this home is a great place to star gaze. For details a schedule of "Star Parties" search "Colorado Dark Skies".

Sangre de Cristos offers a wide range of hiking, biking, fishing and hunting. Just off road to DeWeese Reservoir. Arkansas River, by rafting, train or helicopter.

Great Sand Dunes National Park (a 90-110 minute drive) Monarch Ski Area is about 90 minutes (67 miles) away with good weather conditions.

Bishop's Castle is one of the most unique and interesting sites in the county. Along that 30 minute drive you are sure to see a wide range of wild life. Out the windows you will see deer grazing nearly any time of year. Deer whistles are recommended for your car.
