About Paula Harvan

I have been offering luxury holiday accommodations since 1999, with properties in Paris, the South of France, London and Napa Valley, California. Residential design and decor is my passion, and I strive to provide dwelling places that are more expressive, more beautiful, more comfortable than most vacation rentals. I live part-time in all these places. So each functions as a personal 'home' -- not just an impersonal rental property. So there are many things, both big and small -- from superb heating and air conditioning to an extensive French art glass collection to oyster knives, a sushi set and escargot forks -- that are not usually found in properties that are used exclusively as rentals. The hallmark of each residence is its personal style, which reflects its unique character and location. For example, my Paris penthouse, the top floor of a handsome Art Deco building with sweeping views of the Eiffel Tower and Parisian rooftops, is thoughtful designed with the idea of bringing the look and feel of skyscape and its light inside with a calm silver-grey palette sparked by carefully placed bursts of glass, chrome, mirrors and colour. My philosophy is that I would never rent a property that I would not stay in myself. So, putting myself into my guests’ shoes, I 'think of everything' -- as my many 'five-star' guest reviews confirm -- to make your stay a most positive and memorable experience.

Paula Harvan purchased this apartment in 2006

Why Paula Harvan chose Paris Arr. 7 (Eiffel Tower, Orsay, Rue Cler)

If you read the many excellent 'five-star' guest reviews, they thoroughly answer the question, 'Why this property?' Personally, I lived in Paris for several years before purchasing the penthouse so I was quite familiar with the City and the profile of different arrondissements and neighborhoods. I chose this property and location because 1) I LOVE the Eiffel Tower, and the penthouse has fantastic views of it from 5 windows and the apartment itself if very light, open and airy, 2) the neighborhood is lively (with many cafes/restaurants and stores), safe AND truly Parisian. That is, it's not overrun by tourists so you really live like a local while you're here, 3) it offers convenient day-to-day living -- stores/services, such as post office, big and small supermarkets, an outdoor market are within a 2-5 minute walk 4) the penthouse is only one block from a convenient metro line that provides easy access to all major sights in the city and a five minute walk to the Champs des Mars, the huge park that surrounds the Eiffel Tower, which provides a great place to walk/run/and people watch.

What makes this apartment unique

I never tire of the stunning views of the Eiffel Tower from each of the penthouse windows. The view is especially inspiring from the window of fully-equipped office/study. So as I work, I can glaze from my desk (which is smack in front of the window) and see this marvelous structure. I also love the privacy of the penthouse, the conveniences (bakeries, food/convenience stores, wine bar) at are literally a 30 second walk from outside the building gates) truly Parisian neighborhood, and walking/exercising on the Champs des Mars, the park where the Eiffel Tower is located.

Guestbook comments from the owner

"LPR is an absolute gem and we will absolutely return (for a longer time!) Paula, you have thought of everything and it was all appreciated. We arrived back at LPR each evening of our stay, completely amazed that the Eiffel Tower awaited us yet again; it is a sight never to tire of."

The most beautiful and comfortable apartment with incredible views!

  • 5 of 5

First of all, I would highly recommend that you have Victoria pick you up from the airport or train station, as she knows how to get around Paris very efficiently. She's very sweet and extremely knowledgable on which areas to visit (restaurants, museums, sites, etc.) and which areas to avoid during certain times of the year and certain days of the week. The apartment is very safe, hidden behind a gated and coded courtyard, with a two person lift to the top. You do not always get this in Paris, so it was a definite plus with our heavy luggage!

Once we entered, we immediately felt like we were at home. There's a nice sized dining table, complete with three folders of everything you need to know about the apartment, from how to work the television to instructions of the coffee maker. She even had supplied real cream in the adorable kitchen for us to use in the cream spinner (the first I'd ever seen and I came home and immediately bought one for myself!). My daughter slept on the pull-out sofa, which she said was the most comfortable she'd ever slept on. My mother and I slept in the bedroom on what felt like a memory foam mattress, and we slept so well every night that I hated to get out of bed in the mornings! The views from every window are of the Eiffel Tower (book ahead online and have dinner at Eiffel 58 one evening at their 9:00 pm seating, it's so worth the money and the experience). Also, have dinner one evening at Le Roc Rico in Montmarte. Try to get to the area early so you can visit the Basilica (Sacre-Couer). ALSO, do NOT take taxis if you can avoid it because they'll know you are tourists and will take the long route and charge double. Download the Uber app and use them every time you need to get somewhere out of walking distance, it's half the price of the taxis and your tip gets included in the charge on your card.

The other wonderful thing about her apartment is the location. There is a convenience store on the same block with everything from water to wine and bread to eggs and butter. Next door to that is a wonderful new bakery, so definitely try it out! The Cambronne station is only two blocks away, so get acquainted with it, as it's the cheapest and most exciting way to travel. Use it to take a trip to Versailles. You will have to wait in a very long line to get it, even if you have advance tickets, so chose a cloudy, but not rainy, cool day to wait in line and make sure you have plenty of water. I would definitely stay again!

Nice apartment in a upscale and centrally located part of Paris

  • 5 of 5

This is a nice centrally located property that is perfect for couples or families with older children. It is an easy walk to the Paris metro and there are a number of good restaurants and food shops nearby. The neighborhood is not very touristy, which we liked, but lively enough to get a good Parisian vibe. The building is easy to get into and out of and the property manager is very responsive and friendly.

Since the property is decorated with a number of glass items it may not be the best choice for families with small children. Finally, the apartment is located on the 8th floor which offers great views of the city as well as the Eiffel tower. However, as heat rises it may not be the best place to be in times of very hot weather. Our stay coincided with a rare Paris heat wave with temperatures approaching 100+ degrees outside. It is air-conditioned but still warm on extremely hot days.

Owner's Response: We all know the weather is unpredictable, especially these days. But one thing is certain: Most paris apartments do NOT have air conditioning. (Out of the 5000+ paris apartment listings on this website, only 100+ advertise having air conditioning.) The Eiffel Tower Penthouse has not one but TWO air conditioning units. As the weather approaches 100 degrees, it's impossible for any unit to provide 'deep chill' cool inside. Looking at the glass half full rather than half empty, I believe it's better to have some relief from unseasonable hot temperatures than none at all. It was mentioned in this review that the property manager was 'responsive and friendly' but she, as well as the service we provided, was "extra-ordinary." Unfortunately, these guests had a number of mishaps/issues which involved a lot of my property manager time and resulted in increased expense for me. They were delayed for many hours upon arrival without calling the manager until much later in the day. The property manager patiently waited (without my charging them for her time or a late arrival fee). The manager also coordinated the delivery of all their lost luggage (again without my charging them her time). And one of the guests locked himself INTO the apartment -- something which has never happened before. Once again, the property manager was called out and a locksmith brought in to open the door. Again, as owner I didn't charge for the property managers time, nor for the cost to replace the lock (which ws not broken), which was a couple hundred euros. I believe we were extremely accommodating to these guests in ways many others would not have been, and this is not accurately reflected in their review.

Lovely area!

  • 4 of 5

Overall we were pleased with our accommodations. The view is spectacular and we loved the area, accessible to everything by either walking or a quick hop on the train. Victoria (Property Manager) is a breath of fresh air. We absolutely adored her and she was a wealth of help and information! It was such a pleasure to have made her acquaintance.

We did think that the apartment was in need of a little freshening and TLC. The laptop was not working, sink was cracked and the walls could use a paint touch up from wear and tear. Again none of these issues affected our stay but if addressed would make the apartment that more charming!

Owner's Response: I believe this somewhat negative guest review is an exception to the 135+ 5-star guest reviews we have received. All guests are kindly told during a tour of the apartment about the crack in an expensive clear glass Italian sink in the bathroom, and offered an apology. (A previous renter poured boiling water into it and cracked it and we are searching for a suitable replacement. Until then, the sink remains fully functional.) We have examined the laptop and the comments are valid so we have removed it from the apartment, especially as most people prefer to use their own computing devices these days. Several spots have recently appeared on the walls from where guests' suitcases have scraped the paint. These spots will be repaired. Overall we believe that these few items do not diminish the outstanding style, comfort, amenities, property manager support and guest experience provided at the Eiffel Tower Penthouse.

A Great Paris Experience

  • 5 of 5

I want to start off saying my wife and I had a fantastic holiday in Paris. Our stay in the penthouse apartment capped off our experience. Victoria met us outside the apartment after being picked up from the airport. She gave us a run down of the property and showed where everything was located. Victoria kept in touch with us throughout the week as repairs were being made to the washer and dryer. The apartment was exactly as advertised and we felt it was much larger than anticipated. It is in a quiet neighborhood close to many restaurants, bars, patisseries and best of all a five minute walk to the Cambronne Metro station. We used the Metro exclusively to navigate the city and see all the sites. This was our first trip to Paris and I'm afraid we set the bar too high for our next visit. I would definitely stay here again.

Totally Wonderful

  • 5 of 5

We loved every minute of our stay. There is agreement with all of the other reviews. Every desire and need were met. A couple things that were really great for us. There are three Metro lines within easy walking distance. And then there are Metro stops that allow you to transfer to any part of the city. That was really spectacular for us. And it is easy to return back to the apartment from wherever you are.

The Seine is really close by if you venture to the Beaugrenelle Paris mall. The 15e is really interesting and is worth exploring. I walked to the Sixt car rental agency and discovered that there was a marche' being setup.

From the apartment, the Eiffel Tower is always in view. The air conditioning is really effective. The refrigerator is a really nice size. The bed is very comfortable. The neighborhood is quiet for sleeping purposes. There is great cross ventilation in the apartment.

It is a great apartment. Paula makes sure that you are well taken care of.
