We wanted to visit Palm Springs for a short weekend getaway from Los Angeles. The Monkey Tree was the perfect little hiding spot in Palm Springs. The hotel itself is small, but spacious. The grounds are beautifully kept and the view from the pool of the mountains is great! We stayed in the winter, so we didn't venture into the pool, but we sure took advantage of their dry sauna. My favorite was the breakfast. If you're expecting giant sized portions like any good ol' diner, you'll be disappointed. What makes this breakfast so special is that everything is made in house, with healthy portion sizes and great ingredients. The breakfast that morning consisted of French toast and sausage sliders, deviled eggs with lox and cream cheese. The pastries and bread were made in house and they had a variety of diary-free yogurt options! What really got me was the loose leaf tea. I love my tea in the morning, and The Monkey Tree provides individual steepers, the kind that you can place right one top of your cup to fill it when it's ready to go. Little touches made for a very pleasant stay: the welcome basket with snacks, mulled cider and cute sugar cookies available in the common area, and the daily paper available to read by a cozy fire place.
