★ ★ ★ ★ ★ "We were looking for something special for our visit to Plymouth and we certainly found it here! The house itself is just beautiful, the listed photos, while great, don't do it justice, it's better than the photos. It is very well equipped and very comfortable. The street is quiet, but the harbor and shops/restaurants, etc are within easy walking distance. Highly recommended! Janet D, London, UK.
"We spent several weeks in the townhouse and enjoyed every minute of it! The house has an abundance of period features and comes with a fully equipped high-end kitchen. We enjoyed the proximity to a great variety of restaurants, and a bit of street life just around the corner even though the house is on a quiet street. To top it off, Robin and John were the perfect hosts, making sure we had everything we needed throughout the stay. We would love to come back!" (M+M)
From the owner:
We understand. You need a hotel but want a home. You'd like a historic B+B, but don't want to have to rub elbows with Mr and Mrs Innkeeper at breakfast. You want privacy, a beautiful in-town stay, understated luxury and comfort, a classy kitchen with high-end appliances you may not even have at home. You want room to spread out, with space to sort through your maps, guidebooks, history books, cameras and coffee, checking email via WiFi. Comfortable bedrooms, new bathrooms with granite countertops in a yesteryear 'mansion' home you can rent like a hotel so your family can play tourist without getting stuck in a forlorn motel chain. Think of it as a London-style townhouse similar to one you would rent in Kensington to visit the Victoria and Albert Museum.
Here is a lovely note left by our guests from Great Britain, 'We knew instantly when we spotted Cushman Place on the VRBO website that it was exactly what we were looking for. However, on arrival, we were even more impressed. Your extremely tasteful decor and furnishings made it an absolute delight to stay here in Plymouth. Add to that the location so close to the waterfront, restaurants, etc, and it was outstanding. Thank you so much for a fantastic rental; we will certainly tell all our friends about Cushman Place. With our thanks and best wishes'-- Steve and Jane L. UK.
Cushman Place Residence is a 2-story, 2-bedroom townhouse (with an alcove large enough for a crib), divided many years ago from a 1900s grand Colonial Revival home. It is located at the edge of the Historic District. Once part of a distinguished 6000 square foot manse (which had servants galore), this private in-town 2-bedroom townhouse is a separate, private home with its own entrance and easy parking and back garden patio area with BBQ grill and extra parking. Cushman Place living room was the formal dining room of the original manse, with its finely detailed fireplace (because of height of chimney and possible smoke backups in certain weather, we do not allow fires; we have a faux electric insert instead), crown moldings, and wainscot. Beautiful quarter-sawn oak wood floors, inspiring light from the large windows, delightful details, not the least of which is a sunlit kitchen with SubZero refrigerator and Miele cooktop and Miele dishwasher, Bosch convection oven, honed granite countertops and an abundance of quality cookware and beautiful dishes and glassware ... quite a change from your conventional lodging. You'll find a powder room under the attractive staircase leading to second floor, where two gracious bedrooms and a luxurious renovated bathroom let couples, a family, a bridal party, or space-loving singles, sleep comfortably, then foray into the exciting world of historic Plymouth, Cape Cod and the Islands.
One flight below the townhouse dining room, you can toss a load of vacation laundry into the complimentary state-of-the-art HE laundry, the LG Tromm Steamwasher, and have visions of a by-gone day, where servants scampered about taking care of such mundane tasks such as undies and lunch.
You can rent for days or weeks, enjoying amenities we today consider 'necessities' in the privacy and comfort of home. Your own front door is just a short walk to the waterfront, Plymouth Rock, whale watching, historic sites, ships, antiques, boutiques, and great restaurants, pubs, and entertainment.
Consider reserving Cushman Place as an alternative to a cramped hotel stay to see the historic sites, or if flying early into Boston or Providence for your Cape Cod vacation rental. In town too early to check into your vacation rental? We are here to jump start your vacation. As most waterfront vacation properties are on strict Saturday-to-Saturday or Sunday-to-Sunday schedules, we wanted to be able to offer our incoming guests a refuge and opportunity to explore the area if their travel plans brought them to Cape Cod earlier than the check-in day. Cushman Place provides our incoming guests a place to rest, refresh, explore, and catch up with email.
We consider it an honor to be chosen as your vacation home, and we work diligently to see that your trust is rewarded beyond your expectations. If Cushman Place Residence is unavailable, please see our other FIVE STAR listings in the Plymouth area:

This is a spotlessly clean property with comfortable furnishings in a quiet prime location . Robin responded promptly to our messages making us feel welcome from the start.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Cushman Place, which is a beautiful, comfortable townhouse. The owners have thoughtfully curated the amenities of the house for the convenience and enjoyment of their guests.
We had a wonderful stay at Robin’s beautiful home in Plymouth! The house was spotless, cozy, and perfectly located—just a short walk to shops, restaurants, and the waterfront. Our two daughters (ages 7 and 13) loved it, and it was ideal for our family of four. Robin was a fantastic host with great communication throughout. We’d definitely come back and highly recommend it!

Thank you for your kind words! It was such a pleasure to have your delightful family stay at Cushman Place Residence. We hope you'll come again if you're in the Plymouth area and maybe try one of our other 5 star homes on the ocean. Thanks again for being great guests!
We were in town for wedding. The townhouse is awesome. Great communication with Robin. Loved the location. Near all the tourist sites, harbor, and wonderful restaurants. Townhouse has everything needed to make the stay so enjoyable.
Beautiful home, conveniently located in downtown Plymouth, just steps away from all the historic sites and restaurants. We greatly enjoyed our stay here. Robin, the host, was very accommodating all steps of the way. It was the most special and memorable Thanksgiving weekend. THANK YOU! WE LOVED IT!

Thank you M, for your beautiful review. It was such a pleasure to have you stay with us for Thanksgiving week. We are so happy people have discovered Plymouth getaways for the cooler season.I hope you got to see the sparkling white lights on Main Street where the town arborist gets in a bucket truck and decorates the lovely, lush trees lining the shopping/restaurant area, just a couple blocks from the Cushman Townhouse. (Travelers might not think of Plymouth/Cape Cod for vacation in the colder months, but the festivity, lights, and always-delightful ocean, along with antique shops and top-quality dining and drinking spots... it's so much fun.) So very glad you spent time with us. Hope to see you again. Our sincere thanks! - Robin
Fantastic stay! Perfect location, clean with up-to-date appliances and everything you could need. Really appreciated the cleanliness and friendly, prompt communication by Robyn. Would recommend it! And would stay there again :)

Thanks so much, Jamie. Yes, I really believe in having top-quality appliances to make the stay a little more special. We have a beautiful Sub Zero refrigerator with two freezer drawers with an ice maker, the best refrigerator design (in my opinion!) that Sub Zero has ever made. Also, the top-quality Miele dishwasher and Miele cooktop are considered by many as the very top-of-the-line. There's a new Breville speed oven, Cuisinart food processor, Keurig multi coffee maker (drip and pod options) microwave, immersion blender, beaker blender, and so much more. It's what we'd want if we chose a vacation home, so it's what we want to do for you. - Robin (owner)

Great House - Great Location
This house was the perfect! You felt like you were in period time visiting one of the birthplaces of our country. Very clean and comfortable. The kitchen was a delight to cook in. Beds comfortable. Walking distance to waterfront with restaurants and all historical activities. I would highly recommend this great vacation spot. Thanks Robin!
This house is in a central location about 2 blocks away from the harbor and also the town restaurants and stores. The house is a charming 2BR that has been lovingly cleaned, decorated, and upgraded (modern appliances throughout) for your stay. All of the little things (dishes, towels, condiments, etc.) were there. It is even one of the rare VRBOs that had seemingly new stainless steel and non-stick pans. Even though I didn't cook, that was refreshing. Robin was monitoring messages for my arrival and questions during my stay. Recommended!

It was a pleasure to welcome you. We have several 5-star homes in Plymouth and Sagamore Beach on VRBO, and we try to make sure our guests are thrilled that they have chosen our special "Pleasant Places." We focus on high end appliances like Sub Zero refrigerators with icemakers as well as an amply provisioned kitchen with spices, condiments and a full array of kitchen, dining amenities, soaps and nice linens, cleaning supplies, everything you might need. Wireless Internet and cable tv (but everybody has that!) Most special is the outstanding architectural detail of this property, built by a wealthy business man named Mabbett, who owned the luxury textile "mill" on the Plymouth waterfront back in 1915. A grand residence for a prosperous merchant in the heart of downtown Plymouth. Enjoy the history! - Robin
My husband and I were celebrating our 14th anniversary.
So, we wanted a nice cozy, homey place to stay while in Plymouth.
That is exactly what we found. The home is beautiful, nicely furnished, and the kitchen was stocked with everything imaginable for making a meal.
It was very close to everything, and Robin was a very good host. I called her to say we would be there soon, and she left us some snacks, and a bottle of wine. Awesome, because we were starving, and the wine hit the spot.
If we ever go back to Plymouth, we will definitely stay there again. Thank you Robin
This townhouse is amazing! The photos do not do it justice. From the beautiful millwork and decor, to the well equipped kitchen-- you will have everything you need for your time in Plymouth. Robin is also lovely and a great communicator.
The beautiful kitchen is decked out with a SubZero fridge, Miele appliances and more. There are plenty of dishes, cookware and even stemware if you like. Everything was so tidy! Even though we ended up not using it, the laundry room is beautiful and spacious.
You also cannot beat the convenience of location. Walk to all of the restaurants, the Plymouth Rock, and everything Plymouth has to offer. We will definitely stay again if we are down that way!

Disappointed with Plymouth area hotels for your wedding?
After our engagement my fiancé and I selected Indian Pond in Kingston as our spring wedding venue. We were thrilled with every aspect except the lack of nice (even so-so) hotels in the Plymouth Harbor area. Even though I was not thrilled, I booked two suites at the Radisson for three nights thinking that we could use them for my bridal party preparations and they would be good enough. Luckily, I checked them out in advance and they were TERRIBLE....stunk like chlorine, expensive, and had really old and tired decor - not really what I had in mind. My mother suggested that we check out rental houses/condos in the area and I happened upon Cushman Place in Plymouth! Robin was a pleasure to work with and I booked based upon the photos online. It actually ended up being less expensive to have more room at Cushman Place so it seemed like a no brainer. When we arrived we were blown away! I knew my wedding photos in the main bedroom would be amazing and everything else was a bonus. The whole place was ready for a photo shoot. Robin has great attention to detail with decor and the place was immaculate. We could tell this place was more than a just a rental for her -- she loved it! We were so happy to have a full kitchen and plenty of places to hang out as we got ready for the big day. Our makeup artists came and did seven rounds of makeup in front of the gorgeous front windows. My photographer had so many amazing photo locations to pick from it was hard to choose.... the fireplace, the beautiful staircase, the dining room, the main bedroom, and on the front steps of the condo (also beautifully decorated!) If you like old, classic houses with a luxurious feel Cushman Place is for you! Every inch of space is used perfectly. The kitchen and bathrooms are on the smaller side, but you don't miss the extra room. Even if you are not getting married you cannot beat the location! You can easily walk to the water and Plymouth Center.
My family and I can't say enough about how much we loved this place! Thanks again to Robin!
We thoroughly enjoyed staying in this beautiful home for the week. We loved everything about it! Not only is it gorgeous inside and out, it is in a perfect location - just a short walk to the harbor, shops, parks, and restaurants. So glad that we found this property - and that it was available the week we requested!!

Great place !
I would like to express our pleasure with your property and our stay. The location is perfect. We had never been to Plymouth before. The location is close enough to walk to town, but far enough from the noise. There must be over 50 resturant's within walking distance. The town was fairly quite and easy to dine in during the week, but things picked up on the weekend. Plenty to do in town and within and hours drive of many other places like Boston, and Provincetown, Martha's Vineyard. The place was beautiful! It was almost too nice. The white couch in the family room was a bit scary . The pictures are acurate. The kitchen was high end and completely stacked. The owners were only a phone call, or a knock on the door away, but otherwise absent in a good way. The only small suggestion I would make is that the window coverings in the bedrooms let in the nice natural light which is great, except at 5:30 am on a vacation day. Something more substantive would have made it easier to sleep in.
All in all, a great place that I would easily recommend, and return to.

You won't believe how spectacular this place is until you're there!
So my wife and I wanted to get away for a long weekend with her sister, sister's husband, and nephew. We decided to go to Plymouth because we really love the town and have some good friends there that we always like to see when we can. After looking at hotels in the area and not being overly impressed, I decided to see if there were any alternative rentals in town that we could pursue. I see a listing for this beautiful townhouse that is within walking distance of downtown and decide to contact the owner on a whim because I honestly didn't think that it would be available or that it would be far too expensive. I couldn't have been more wrong. Not only was the owner really nice and easy-going, but the place was available and actually less expensive than the hotel that we stayed in the last time we were down in Plymouth! Needless to say, we booked it and waited eagerly for the arrival of our getaway weekend.
When we arrived at the townhouse, we were very pleased with just how close to downtown it actually was, with the added bonus that there was a Dunkin Donuts in between! We walked into the place and were speechless at how stunning the townhouse actually was; the pictures, though beautiful, don't do it justice. The decor was luxury/vintage/fancy; the wainscoting and crown molding were immaculately done and really contrasted well with the color of the walls and all of the furniture and decorations had an antique, but not dusty/old feel to them (if that makes any sense). Everything 'popped' in the place and there were many focal points and views to enjoy throughout the townhouse. However, the place - amazingly - had a very homelike feel to it. We had no problem fully relaxing even though we were immersed in such opulent surroundings. We found ourselves lounging around the townhouse 'like we owned the place' because that was the type of feel that it emanated. And we certainly made very good use of the fireplace and full kitchen, which made for some cozy nights and saved us money on food because we didn't have to go out to eat 3 meals a day. We were sad when we had to leave the townhouse, but it is certainly a place that we would stay again in a heartbeat if the chance to do so arrives! If you want a weekend away, we HIGHLY recommend this property and it's owner as a magnificent alternative to your typical hotel accommodations.

Labor Day Weekend Escape
We loved the house and everything that came with it. Robin had everything perfectly ready for our arrival including some extra goodies that she left for us in the refrigerator.
The house is very comfortable and very nicely decorated. The beds were exceptional and we slept well.
The location of the house could not be beat. Walking distance to the dowtown area and the waterfront. My only wish is that we were able to stay longer because we enjoyed this trip so much.
Thank you Robin for sharing your home with us and we hope to be able to make the trip up to Plymouth again next yeay.
About the host
Hosted by Robin
Dear prospective Cushman Place Residence guests:
To me, creating the perfect getaway home is an art form. My past career had been as art director, designing publications, and later as an illustrator, creating magazine illustrations (google 'robin jareaux' to see some examples) and painting expressionistic works on canvas. My first waterfront home was 'SandyToes' vrbo 14418 -- I fell in love with SandyToes, and as perfect as it seemed, I expanded and improved it and brought out even more of its wonderful qualities with gardens, balconies, skylights, ponds and paths, drama and comfort. At that time, I was still illustrating, doing software box artwork for 'Norton Utilities' and 'C++' from my studio at SandyToes. When another cottage became available for renovation (Timberframe Cottage number 25445 ) I discovered this would become my work and my passion. Working in two dimensions was challenging and rewarding, but creating vacation homes are 'works of art' in 3D and at considerable scale. My goal with my homes, as with my work before, is to provide a setting that exceeds your expectations, and in turn, your patronage lets me continue my art form a few more years. Please read the guest comments to see the generous and enthusiastic compliments received. Please look at 'all my rental listings' to see what I've been doing (yes, it has been a huge amount of endless expensive work!) to make unique and extra-special vacation getaways. It is a labor of love... for you.
Why they chose this property
When Cushman Place came on the market, we were awed. The glorious architectural detail, impressive fireplaces, high ceilings with elaborate crown mouldings, glowing wood floors, boxwood maze in the back yard, servants quarters, master's chambers, charming rooms, the great condition of the home, the tree lined street, the short walk to the waterfront and restaurants...what a fun place to be! We embarked on the improvements of the Townhouse portion of this little 6000 sq foot mansion on Cushman Street and called it Cushman Place Residence. Why? well, it reminded us of the interesting townhouses we stayed in London, Knightsbridge and Kensington. The improvements took effort, for sure, and obviously, this was the first Sub Zero ever installed in its dignified lifetime. Years ago, servants scurried all over the house, serving the Master and Mistress, and how they might have wished for the 21st century, where they'd be able to withdraw to a sleek and stylin' kitchen or state of the art laundry. For two decades, the larger portion of the mansion was 'The Mabbett House' Bed and Breakfast. It may be again some day. But we believe that modern travellers prefer privacy, first-class amenities, serenity – and may I repeat, PRIVACY? Our idea is that you enter your own luxurious private space, no need to chuckle up the Innkeeper or mingle with strangers over that first good cup of coffee. But if you ever need help, we are just a quick phone call or email away.
What makes this property unique
Ideal downtown location next to waterfront. Walk to everything. Luxury, quality, beauty, convenience. You will feel like you rented the British Ambassador's residence.
