About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms + 2 Dens, sunporch, deck overlooking water, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 6)

Enjoy the best of all worlds in this newly renovated waterfront seven room home.

Just 4 miles from the Bourne Bridge and Cape Cod Canal … without the traffic! Located on the shores of Ezekiel Pond in South Plymouth (by the Bourne and Wareham town lines), the home features three bedrooms, kitchen, two dens (you can enjoy one Den while the kids enjoy the other), sunroom, one bathroom, and large deck overlooking the water and dock just 15 feet away. Hardwood floors upstairs, ceramic tile downstairs, new kitchen, bright open floor plan with plenty of windows. Central Air, gas grill, free WiFi. Deck is unbelievable--just a 12 feet from the water, the deck is 26 feet long with incredible water views. Home is located on a quiet road.

The peaceful 36-acre, 24-foot deep lake is great for swimming, kayaking, fishing and is the third cleanest body of water in Massachusetts. Only an occasional power boat. Gradually sloping sandy lake bottom is great for children. Crystal clear water. If you prefer the ocean, Scusset Beach State Reservation in Bourne is just a 15 minute drive. This home comes complete with a canoe and two kayaks. There is a hammock hanging just 4 feet from the water.

Plenty of stores just ten minutes away, and a country store just a half mile from our home.

Perfect Golf Vacation: several courses in the area including Atlantic Country Club which is 2 miles from away.

Enjoy the beautiful sunsets while relaxing on the deck! (Rentals are from Saturday to Saturday. Discount given on two week rental or more.) I'm willing to take a check direct from you so you don't have to pay the VRBO/HomeAway fee. My email is my first initial (m) then my last name (tougias) at comcast dot net.

About Michael Tougias

I'm an author of several travel books and several true stories of survival and adventure. It was my dream to buy a house on a lake near the ocean so that I could enjoy the best of both worlds. My idea of a great day is to take a morning bike ride, go to one of the nearby beaches to body surf the waves or fish for striped bass, and then return to the Plymouth house for a swim in the crystal clear waters of the lake. And of course, this is all capped off with drinks on the deck while watching the sun set on the lake and a dinner cooked on the outdoor gas grill.

Michael Tougias purchased this house in 2008

Why Michael Tougias chose Plymouth

While I love Cape Cod, I can't stand it's traffic. So from my Plymouth house I can avoid the Cape during high traffic periods (weekends when people are going to rentals is the worst), yet I can drive to the Cape in just 10 -15 minutes from my lake home at a time that is convenient for me. (There is so much to do near my house, I find that many family members and guests only go to the Cape for a couple brief visits during a week's stay, and instead spend most of their time on the lake or doing an activity in Plymouth or Wareham.) And for those folks that want to go into Boston, our location has easy access to the highway and the trip is much shorter than if you left from the Cape. We give discounts for extended stays.

What makes this house unique

The road our house is on is extremely quiet, and the lake (Ezekial Pond) is peaceful. It is a good size at 36 acres (and 26 feet deep), but their are only a couple power boats on the lake because power boaters prefer the huge lakes or ocean nearby. This makes Ezekial Pond pefect for kayaking, canoeing, swimming and fishing (great largemouth and smallmouth bass fishing). I also like the fact that while you feel like you are way out in the country, a ten minute drive brings you to Route 25/6 which has every store and restaurant imaginable on it. This roadway also has activities for the kids such as mini golf, go-carts, a waterpark etc. At the house I've put together an entire booklet of some of my favorite places and few secret spots with maps and phone numbers. I want guests to have a week that has a mixture of fun, discovery, and relaxation. My whole approach is that when renters love their vacation at my lake house we all win -- those same people will want to return in future years, and each year they find new things to do and learn their own favorite places.

Total retreat

  • 5 of 5

We had an amazing week at this well-equipped lakefront home. I enjoyed the spacious layout of the kitchen and the large deck that overlooks Ezekiel Pond. No need for reservations when you have lakefront dining at your back doorstep. The dirt paths around the neighborhood were great for biking. We caught quite a few largemouth and smallmouth bass in the pond from the canoes that were provided and from the dock. We are a family of 5+ we had two extra college students that came to stay for a few nights and the sleeping quarters were perfect. We did a daytrip to the beach, which was only about 15 minutes by car. Perfect location if your looking to sightsee or just relax. This home exceeded our expectations. We were just looking for a place to stay while visiting our son who was studying over the summer in Buzzards Bay. It was a total retreat for my husband and myself and a quiet comfortable place for our son to study. We hope to return in the spring.

Property is nice but needs work

  • 1 of 5

My wife and I enjoyed our time at this cottage, but, it is a little run down and not exactly as pictures show. Now unfortunately the owner decided not to refund our damage deposit because his couch, which is a fake leather is pealing from wear and tear, and I guess we weren't supposed to sit on it.The material on the seats are extremely thin and pealing. Not sure why we have to pay for this.

If you decide to rent , just be aware that you may not get your deposit back.

And one other thing ,it was just the wife and I, both of us are 60 plus year olds..We surely didn't deliberately damage his worn out couch.

Owner's Response: We have had over 60 renters in the past few years and I've always returned full security deposit. All the renters were great and respected out home. This was the first time I've ever had serious damage.

Perfect location

  • 5 of 5

Spent four weeks in this cozy, comfortable cottage. Had everything we needed at our fingertips. The deck was the best for eating outside or just reading a book. Beautiful sunsets for sure. Close to restaurants and shops like the listing states. Perfect for just relaxing in peaceful setting also. Best of both worlds! Any questions or requests Mike was right on it! Wonderful and enjoyable vacation!

Lakeside Perfection

  • 5 of 5

My two children and I had a great time at this beautiful lake side home in Plymouth! Having swam and kayaked the pond extensively I'm pretty sure it's the premier location on the lake. The Lake itself is varied and full of fish with both deep locations and shallow. The deck is paradise, and I loved snoozing on the hammock, as much as I enjoyed jogging along the dirt roads around the lake and neighboring lakes. It's off the beaten path but not too far from civilization that we were able to go to a waterpark and a Walmart, a Wendy's and a Subway, some batting cages, as well as fishing in the Cape Cod Canal and biking along it too. We even had an excursion one day to the Cape Cod National Seashore and did an evening whale watch out of Barnstable Harbor (not too far away either). The kids caught lots fish from the dock, did a lot of swimming, and then enjoyed coming inside and spacing out in front of the TV. Plenty of room for us. The owners, Mike and Alison, thought of everything and were very kind and considerate. We'll be back!

Best of many worlds!

  • 5 of 5

I've been to this house more than once. If you like a serene view of a lake from what feels like a very private perch on a deck directly over a lake, you can stay in your whole vacation and have a wonderful time. If you would rather fish at the canal, go mountain or road biking, or explore historic Plymouth these options are all readily available. Another huge plus is that you don't have to drive over the canal to get there. Nice house, great location, get ready to have a nice vacation.

Pick your adventure!

  • 5 of 5

Had a great time here with my daughters! What a wonderful, cozy place to stay. The house was optimal as kids had their own space downstairs with television and lots of room to spread out while adults enjoyed a quiet evening on the porch with drinks, watching the sunset. We ate outside most of the time as the porch was so inviting and private. The water was perfectly clear for swimming. We also ventured out on some trails that abut the neighborhood for an invigorating hike. The house was well furnished, with washer/dryer a plus. Great location for a family vacation!
