Nice little flat in nice little village
The flat felt fairly spacious and was spotlessly clean. The kitchen/dining area was large enough for several people to use at the same time and had everything that you need to cook a proper meal. The lounge area was perfectly adequate but, as I often find in holiday properties, none of the chairs or sofas had good lumbar support so I had to rig up a couple of cushions. The mattresses were reasonably firm. It was cold overnight (in March) and we found that the single duvet supplied was sometimes not enough, so we borrowed the ones from the twin-bedded room. With the shutters closed, the blackout in the bedrooms was good. The rainhead shower had good power but got a bit tepid by the time the last person used it. The heating worked well. The owner was friendly and extremely quick to respond to messages.
Lauris is a proper small Provencal village that still has a life outside the tourist season. We loved walking around the historic part and admiring the view over the Durance valley from the castle terraced gardens. The deli had lots of fresh fruit and vegetables, some of them organic, plus local wines and conserves. We also went to the Panier du Moulin organic shop a few kilometers away in Puyvert, which stocked everything you would expect in a health food shop, so we never needed to go to the supermarket.
Lots of other attractive villages in the surrounding area to explore: Lourmarin, Vaugines, Cucuron, La Roque d'Antheron. We also did a couple of walks in the forest at Merindol and up on the Luberon ridge near Bonnieux. One day we drove to the nearest park-n-ride and took a bus into Aix centre, which was very good value and dead easy. The nearby restaurants were very good; we particularly enjoyed MatCha in Cucuron and Le P'tit Resto in Vaugines, both run by husband-and-wife teams, with the wife in the kitchen. However, we found Lou Pebre d'Ai, the restaurant in the village and only a stone's throw away, no more than average, although the service was friendly.
Very clean and comfortable house with a wonderful terrace!
We had a wonderful experience at this property! Patricia welcomed us when we arrived and was so hospitable and helpful to us in feeling settled, both in the house and in the area. We felt right at home in the meticulously clean, well equipped, and comfortable house! One of our best memories of our Provence vacation has to be sitting on the terrace in the quiet, fresh air of morning with a cup of coffee, or enjoying the sunset and the sounds of the town with glass of wine in the evening. The location was an ideal home base for daily excursions around Provence, and we also enjoyed those times that we just took a walk around the lovely town of Lauris. We and our 3 teen and 'tween children give it our highest recommendation!
Well kitted out and modern holiday apartment. Quiet location just off market square.
Patricia was very welcoming, full of helpful information and quick to respond when internet went down briefly. Lauris is a great little village in the Luberon with many interesting sites of its own and close to other places of interest which Patricia gave us good information on. The ground floor apartment with three bedrooms was ideal for us as a family with two late teenage daughters. Being able to park the car off the road within the gated grounds was much appreciated.
Modern spacious apartment in a Louris with a lovely sunny terrace
We could not have been more delighted with our wonderful apartment in Louris in the Luberon. The apartment was very spacious and fitted out with everything we needed. From this recently renovated apartment we were within walking distance to everything we needed ie coffee and baguettes! The village itself is not too far away from many well known villages in the Luberon and our host Patricia was able to give us some great tips regarding paces to visit and the local restaurants. We certainly would love to return one day.
Authentic Provençal Location
We had a memorable stay at this house. Everything was exactly as described, clean, comfortable, spacious, pretty good-sized washing machine (according to French standard). Patricia was very nice and accommodating, giving good advices about the region. If you are looking for a place to stay within the proximity of the most charming villages in the South of Luberon such as Lourmarin, Ansouis, Bonneux ...but less touristy, and this is it! Lauris itself is a lovely reserved village with its own "chateau", " jardin", picturesque medieval stony houses and narrow alleys. We woke up early one morning, wandering the village and its chateau while waiting for the stores to open; at that moment, I felt like we were living back in time of Belle- the Beauty in the Disney's movie "Beauty and The Beast". While staying there, try the pizza at Pizza Dou Luberon just few steps away, attend different marchés provençal at different villages in the region, and do visit Sault/Aurel for magnificent lavender fields scenery. The more than one-hour drive across the mountainous terrain to Sault was intimidating ( by aggressive French drivers) but well worth it.
Many beautiful villages in a radius of 30 km: Lourmarin, Gordes, Ansouis, Bonnieux, Roussillon, Fontaine de Vaucluse ...
Provencal towns within 1 hour drive: Marseille, Avignon, Aix-En-Provence, Manosque, Salon de Provence, Sainte Marie de la Mer in the Camargue (1:30) ....
Walks and cycling in the Luberon ...
