Welcome to historic Cedar Point, Hancock, Maine located on over three waterfront acres between Acadia National Park and its sister Park Schoodic. Tides flow East and West to the waters that surround the Park. The sun rises through the pines and sets over Taunton Bay ablaze with color. Cross the bluestone patio that surrounds the house and enter to view a towering granite fireplace. The house is all on one floor and is furnished comfortably and imaginatively with collectibles and antiques.

An oversized island provides relaxed seating around a chef’s kitchen. A table for six with water views on three sides is great for eating or gaming. The media center looks over the indoor fireplace (gas logs) and features a 65” television.

Enjoy the large hot tub with ocean views, and sun on the patio in Zero-Gravity chaises and rockers.

The house has a king suite with private bathroom. Two queen bedrooms share a bathroom. Both tile baths have glass showers with granite seats, rain showers and steam. Sleep comfortably on Casper, Purple and Magniflex matresses with premium pillows and linens. Each bedroom opens out to its own patio and water view. Enjoy sleeping with windows wide open for the ocean breeze.

The patio fire pit supplied with wood will warm you as you star gaze.

Hancock has offered hospitality since the early 1800’s when a railway brought guests to the Downeast Maine Coast and its famed hotels. Come explore our natural beauty in Acadia National Park and the Islands. Enjoy the cultural richness of music, the arts and outstanding seafood.

Hike Acadia, bike Schoodic, kayak, sail, lobster and whale watch. Enjoy concerts in Hancock at the Monteux School for Conductors and Orchestra Musicians, and on Mount Dessert Island at the Bar Harbor Bach Festival, Kneisel Hall Chamber Concerts, and performances at the Criterion Theatre. Eat out at the many fabulous local restaurants (several favorites just down the road).

House at Cedar Point

David and Joy were fantastic hosts! We all had the most relaxing and enjoyable vacation. Maine did not disappoint at all. Between the beautiful home and the beautiful surroundings this was our best vacation to date. The fall foliage at Acadia and on the property at Cedar Point was breathtaking!!! We will definitely be back.

Relaxing Location

We enjoyed the area. Loved having a location close to Acadia and also Bangor but not being right in the middle of the tourist areas. Location was close enough to Ellsworth to get to the store. Something to note is property manager lives on site in the garage next to the home. However, she was respectful of our privacy.

Great Family Vacation in Acadia National Park

Great location, right in the middle between both islands, Mount Desert and Schoodic. Great way to get out of the touristy hustle and bustle of Bar Harbor. House is very well maintained and very quiet. Equipped with everything you need. This is definitely a great place to stay when you are traveling with a large group. Hosts are wonderful and accommodating to all needs.

Gorgeous, spacious home and amazing hosts!!!

We stayed in this beautiful Hancock home for our week trip to Acadia NP. The accommodations could not have been nicer and the hosts Joy and David are very kind and have left no detail unattended. The home was spotless with a beautiful view of Tauton Bay. Do not miss an opportunity to stay at this high-end yet comfortable home. If I could rate this property higher than 10/10 I would.

Stay away! Absolutely not worth it. You can get scammed..

We were shocked to receive a $1K charge with no justification 12 days after we left the property. Still trying to recover the money… If you decide to rent the place, you will find two pages of rules and multiple reminders in the kitchen and bathrooms of what you can and cannot do, some of them were honestly annoying and some - puzzling. You’ll be walking on eggshells instead of relaxing. But we followed all the rules! None of the five star hotels and rental properties we stayed at in the past had anything similar. Beware that the host will charge you if you leave stains on the sheets, no matter how tiny they are ( never experienced anything like that before!) The place has no air conditioning and it got really hot when we stayed there. Considering the price they charge, AC should absolutely be there. At night you won’t be able to relax in a good company outside because the host won’t tolerate any noise after 10pm. Note that the place is quite far from its neighbours (only host’s house is close to it) The place is not that close to Acadia. We had to do quite a bit of driving. Not worth it.

One of our best vacations ever!

We recently stayed here and instantly felt at home. The hosts were incredibly helpful but respected our privacy, making our stay even more enjoyable. The beds and pillows were very comfortable, ensuring a restful night's sleep. Each evening, we looked forward to relaxing by the fire and soaking in the hot tub, which became a nightly ritual. We spent a lot of time at the water's edge, admiring the breathtaking views and watching eagles soar overhead. The property's proximity to Ellsworth made it easy to stock up on provisions and groceries, while being only 30-40 minutes away from Acadia National Park meant we could enjoy the park's beauty without dealing with the hustle and bustle of Bar Harbor. The lovely drive to Acadia was part of the charm, and we were there almost every day. Returning to such a beautiful house and view at the end of each day was a highlight of our trip. The views from the house were so stunning that we chose to eat almost every meal there, making the most of the well-equipped kitchen. This home provided a perfect blend of comfort, convenience, and natural beauty. We can't wait to return

This is the ONE!

If you are planning to visit Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park this is the place to stay. A fantastic Maine setting on the water with a house that will meet all your needs while also making you feel like you are on vacation, this place is the answer. Joy is a fabulous host and gave us so many great recommendations. Highly recommend booking this house. You will be so glad you did.

Perfect, again

This was our 2nd stay at the House on Cedar Point. We again enjoyed the serene location, as quiet and private as we remembered from October 2022. The kitchen is truly designed for cooks, and we took full advantage. Enjoying sunset through the many beautiful trees on the property while lounging in the hot tub was a great way to wind down after busy days of sightseeing The master bed is THE most comfortable one we've ever slept in in any hotel or vacation rental. The built-in Sonos sound system was easy to pair with our iPhone's Spotify app, so we enjoyed having "our" music providing a relaxing soundtrack to evenings reading in front of the fire . It's an easy 30-40 min drive to so many fine restaurants (Havana in Bar Harbor, Copita in Northeast Harbor, Red Sky in Southwest Harbor), and such a pleasure to return to such an elegant, inviting home away from the tourist crowds at the end of the day. Joy and David were perfect hosts--friendly, responsive, and clearly eager to do anything they could to make our stay as relaxing and satisfying as possible. We cannot wait to go back.

Honeymoon in Heaven

My daughter and her new husband stayed at this amazing house for their honeymoon and said it was incredible!! The host (Joy) and her husband were fantastic!! The house and grounds were perfect along with the hot tub. They will definitely return for an anniversary!!

Pics doesn’t do justice to how nice this home is

The house was spotless! We came up during a hurricane weekend but owners had everything covered as home has a full home generator. The home is beautiful, private and warmly decorated. One of the best amenities is a closet where you get to select the type of pillows for your bed (jell, down, firm, soft). This was amazing! Property is stunning and truly waterfront at end of expansive lush back yard. Views of the sunrise and sunset from your private beach are spectacular. Kitchen is stocked with all the cookware needed and we cooked at home several nights. Host are delightful, on the property in another structure which allows for privacy. They had a great list of suggestions for food, etc. We will be back! This place is very special.

Wonderful Stay in Hancock, Maine

Our stay in Hancock was superb!!!! Joy was a gracious host and gave us many ideas on explorations around the area. The home was immaculate and even better than the pictures show!! Our location was just a little over half an hour drive to Bar Harbor and next to many restaurants and attractions that we might not have seen if we had stayed down on the island. Acadia national park on the mainland was just a few minutes drive from the house!! We definitely plan to return soon!!! Many Thanks to the hosts at the Hancock House!!

Maine Escape

This is a beautiful home on the bay that has high end finishes and kitchen. So many options to sit outside and enjoy the view and beauty. We loved the hot tub and outdoor fire place. You are about 45 minutes from Acadia National Park where there is so much to see and do. Highly recommend Sail Acadia out of Northeast Harbor, this was a highlight of the week. The kitchen did not come with normal cooking spices or oil, just FYI. We would recommend Joy and her house!

Beautiful home on gorgeous property

The pictures on the site don’t do this home justice. It’s beautifully appointed and very comfortable. The extras like the fireplace, hot tub and fire pit add to the relaxed atmosphere. In the area are some nice towns for dining and shopping like Bar Harbor (of course), Belfast and Stonington. Joy was a terrific host and highly responsive, while also giving us good suggestions for day trips in the area. Overall we had a relaxing vacation in a stunning area in Maine. We highly recommend this property.

Outstanding house and property

Lovely well appointed house. Everything was intentionaly designed with the house and property. All we can say is wow. The property and view are so good you will debate wheter to visit acadia and the sourding area or sit outside and take in the view. Great restaurants in the area.

Beautiful Getaway

We absolutely loved our stay at this home. The pictures are fabulous but when you drive up, they don't do it justice. It is simply a breathtaking piece of property! It was a great home base to see the sights of Maine but also to just unwind when we needed to. Joy was there to greet us on arrival and give us all the details we needed. If we ever needed anything, she was a text away. We loved playing in the expansive, well-kept backyard, making S'mores on the firepit, and exploring the bay right in the back. House had everything we needed. Very comfortable beds, tons of pillow-options, a fireplace, huge kitchen to cook in, and fantastic showers. It is right off US Route 1 so we could easily head to towns and villages both North and South (loved Camden). Also, Bar Harbor and Acadia were about 20 minutes away. If this home is available for the days you want to vacation, book immediately! If not, change your vacation days :)!

Private, relaxing elegance

Best rental property we've ever stayed in. The house and setting are even more beautiful than the pictures. We took full advantage of the cook's kitchen and the hot tub, and spent hours just relaxing and reading in front of the gas fireplace. The location was ideal for easily getting to the Schoodic Peninsula and to Bar Harbor/Acadia. Our hosts could not have been more gracious and helpful. Hoping to return next year.

All Expectations Met in this Beautiful Home

From the first approach down the secluded driveway to the last day pulling away, this beautiful home contributed to making lasting memories of our long overdue family vacation with our adult children! The home was breathtaking, and the pictures, were spot on! Joy was available and made sure all our needs were met with clean spa towels, to household necessities, and literature to help us around the area. We had many things on our agenda that kept us quite busy, however, we were so excited to be able to wind down in this beautiful home with a beautiful view. The Spa was a hit every night as we relaxed gazing at the stars and enjoying the evening. I would highly recommend Joy and her home to anyone wanting to visit the Bar Harbor/Frenchman Bay area. Thank you Joy!
