Bedrooms 2
Property type townhome
Minimum Stay 3 nights

About the property

Townhome, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 4-5)

The Florida Keys are considered the American Caribbean and feature swaying palm trees and turquoise waters, world class fishing, scuba diving, snorkeling, boating, sailing and kayaking. Our Villa is perfectly located in middle keys known as “the heart of the Florida keys”. Duck Key is home to the destination resort areas of Hawks Cay Resort and The Village at Hawks Cay and a beautiful residential development.

Our villa did not sustain any damage from Hurricane Irma and we are open for business! Clean up in the Keys is well underway and the majority of the restaurants and business are operating under normal business conditions and the water is clear and blue as always!. We look forward to a great holiday season and 2018!

Our Villa is located within the Village at Hawks Cay on Sunset Village Drive. Come and enjoy the spectacular ocean views of Tom’s Harbor from our villa.

The Villa is a two story town home featuring 2 bedrooms, one with a queen bed and a TV, DVD player in the master, and one with twins and a flat screen TV and 2 baths and laundry upstairs. Downstairs there is a full kitchen, with cookware, dishes and utensils. The dining room and living room is decorated with a tropical décor. The living room has a large flat screen TV and DVD player and over looks a spacious lanai with views of Tom’s Harbor. Enjoy the Sunset Views from spacious lanai’s located downstairs and off the master bedroom upstairs.

Our backyard faces the beautiful shoreline of Tom’s Harbor, a secluded cove with calm waters and beach pockets. Fish from the shoreline; launch your kayak or Jet Ski. Anchorage for boats near the shoreline is possible. Boat dockage may be available at request.

Resort attractions include a marina offering Boat dockage and rentals, Jet Ski and Kayak rentals, boat charters, sailboat trips, scuba diving, snorkeling, a well stocked marina store and the Waters Edge Restaurant within walking distance of the Villa.

Drive ten minutes to the town of Marathon and you will have your choice of many restaurants, and bars along with fishing charters and dive operations. Have breakfast at the “Pig”, maybe lunch at the “Keys Fishery”. Try a happy hour at “Sparkeys Landing” and meet the locals. Just don’t dress up, they’ll look at you funny. Enjoy the casual lifestyle…you’re in the Keys!

The Florida Keys also boasts some of the best fishing in the states. If your preference is to fish offshore on the reef for sailfish, mahi, or grouper, just take the channel out of Duck Key and you are only five miles away. For those who like the challenge of stalking the flats for bonefish, you have come to the right place. A short ten minute boat ride out of Tom’s Harbor will bring you to some of the best flats fishing in the Middle Keys.

Bring your fly rod or light tackle and be prepared for a good time. But don’t stop there. Head on out to the gulf side to the “Back country” and fish the “white spots” for snapper. Bring your own boat, rent a boat, hire a guide, wade fish, or fish off the bank; it’s all available at The Village at Hawks Cay.

Scuba Diving in the Florida Keys offers the best diving in continental United States. Many dive sites are located within easy reach of Duck Key, including the very popular Sombrero Reef and Coffin’s Patch. Dive trips, snorkeling, and snuba are available at the marina, and in nearby Marathon.

Need more to do? Spend an afternoon at one of the many nearby state parks for nature walks, birding, and beach combing. Long Key State Park, Bahia Honda State Park, Crane Hammock, and Anne’s Beach are all within an easy drive from Duck Key. Take a walk in Duck Key which has many great walking paths and views, or stop by at any one of many marinas around 3:00 pm and see the charter boats bring in their catch.

Take a walk on the wild side. Enjoy the Keys on your hands and knees! Key West is an hour’s drive south to mile marker 0, 90 miles from Cuba. Enjoy the many restaurants, bars, music, shopping, and of course, the sunset.

Great spot, clean. and affordable

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay. The pool and the water's edge of Tom's Harbor were feet from our back door. We kept our boat anchored right behind the house where we could see it from the porch. The resort amenities were a 5-10 minute walk away. The property was great and clean. Everyone in the area was very friendly. Thank you Laura! And thanks for ordering up the beautiful weather.

Great Experience

  • 5 of 5

Great experience staying at this location. Driving south on Highway 1, you'll start to see ocean on both sides before arriving at Duck Key - it's an awesome view. We were a young family of four from Boston and the condo suited our needs perfectly. The kitchen is ideal for nights in. The second bedroom contains two twin beds - ideal for our little ones. A heated pool is a short walk from the back deck. The space is well kept and clean. There are a few kid friendly eating-out options in Hawks Cay and several more in nearby Marathon or Islamorada. The owner was extremely responsive to answering any questions we had leading up to the trip. This was our first visit to the Keys and one that goes to the top our list.

Absolutely lovely

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful home just outside the pool area. The resort was gorgeous & the villa gives you the privacy you want with the amenities of home. Spacious & clean. I highly recommend. Please note they don't participate in the resort program but we were still able to use the facilities but had to bring our own towels to the resort pool. A little frustrating but not a huge deal.

Just so-so

  • 2 of 5

First off, let me start by saying that the owner was SO nice of the help me out when we landed in Fort Lauderdale and realized we booked the wrong date and needed to stay there that night - she got back to me quickly and we were able to go straight there (I had booked for the next night). When we got there though, it just really didn't seem clean. The carpet on the stairs is filthy. Seeing the carpet like that made me not want to touch anything else there with fabric the couch, the bedspreads - I just imagined them being not clean. Then little things, like there was one teeny tiny sample size bottle of shampoo - for 5 people to use for 4 nights (had to make a special trip to the store). You're supposed to wash the pool towels before you go but there was maybe a drop of laundry detergent - we had to fill the bottle with water to get every last bit of detergent (how clean are those towels now?? yuck!). Barely any dish soap either. We went to use the gym at the resort and were told that the unit has no resort privileges. We stay in a lot of VRBOs and most really feel like home - this one is not one of those, more like an empty furnished apartment. Not bad, but not great either.

Owner's Response: Elicia, I apologize about the condition of the carpet on the stairs and I appreciate your feedback. The carpet is being cleaned prior to the next guest and I am making plans to replace it as well. Housekeeping usually leaves shampoo, conditioner, soap, toilet paper in each bathroom as well as items such as dish soap, laundry and dishwasher tabs, trash can liners, paper towels under the kitchen sink. Coffee filters are usually in the cabinet above the coffee pot. My personal contact information and my housekeeping contact information is shared with each guest in the book in the unit. If either of us were aware we would have made arrangements to have these items delivered if not available. Thank you for sharing and I apologize for any inconvenience that you may have had.
