Beautiful with serenity-gracious hosts

This was our favorite of any place we have been! Nicely renovated, wonderful history, all comforts in place set in trees by ocean, hosts kind and gracious in sharing their space! Very touched by being here, plan to return.

Wonderful stay at Little Red

Little Red was clean, comfortable and in the perfect spot for exploring IAH. Sue and Stew go over the top to make your stay enjoyable with use of their car, bicycles and kayaks. Could not have asked for a better place for a relaxing vacation.

The little red schoolhouse is an amazing place to see Isle Au Haut. Sue and Stu were the best hosts: helping us get from the dock to the property, telling us about things we could do on the island, even assisting our child to learn to kayak in the calm waters right off the house.The house was very comfortable for three of us, with a child sleeping on a pull out couch. The kitchen is one of the best stocked I have seen in years renting apartments.There isn’t much rental supply on Isle Au Haut, and we went in without too much expectation: this property way exceeded anything we hoped for.Do read the hosts communications and the house specifications/guide. Getting to Isle Au Haut requires coordination with Sue and Stu. We were extremely glad we did as the three days we spent there were some of the best of our vacation.

This is a comfortable, well equipped cottage on a water front property with a spectacular view. Everything is kept in very good order. Stew and Sue are excellent hosts, friendly, informative, and sincerely dedicated to making the stay the best possible experience. Isle Au Haut is beautiful and interesting. We highly recommend a stay at Turner Cove.

Isle au Haut magic

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this delightful former schoolhouse. It was very clean and comfortable, felt roomy even with two kids, and our hosts were incredibly generous and responsive to our every need. It was a “remote” vacation made so easy - and the hiking, kayaking and exploring are out of this world. We highly recommend!!

We had a wonderful stay at Little Red. Sue and Stew were amazing hosts and available for anything we needed. Having access to their car and bikes opened up the whole island for exploration. Little Red is charming, well equipped, and has a very comfortable bed. The Refuge really adds to the overall experience with gorgeous views of Turner Cove. The hiking trails in Acadia National Park were stunning. Isle Au Haut and Little Red are perfect for a relaxing getaway. Highly recommend!

A magical place.

Sue and Stu were amazing hosts in every way and provided for all our needs. Staying on Isle au Haut for three nights was an experience we will never forget. The school house is a charming place and Sue and Stu have thought of everything to make the stay comfortable. Highly recommend.

Little Red

Turner Cove and Little Red were the perfect home base for seeing the quieter side of Acadia. Sue and Stew went above and beyond, providing transportation and giving us a tour of the island pointing out highlights along the way. They even provided a "locals" map which added more great hiking trails and spots of interest not shown on the park service map. Can't wait to go back!

Great place to stay for our family of four. Sue and Stu are excellent hosts. They were there waiting for us when our ferry arrived and assisted with our luggage. Little Red was very comfortable and cozy. The kitchen was well stocked for cooking. Bikes, kayaks, and a car were available for our use. What a great value! I cannot say enough great things about our experience in Little Red. Will come again!

4th of July to Remember

We had an awesome stay at Little Red. Sue and Stew are amazing hosts! They picked us up and dropped us off at the ferry landing, and invited us to join their family celebration for the 4th of July (and a special birthday!). We brought our own bikes to cruise around the island, but they had a car/bikes/kayaks all available for us to use, and the Little Red cabin was perfect! Clean with all the amenities.

Incredible stay!

We took the mail boat out to the Isle au Haut town dock where we were met by Sue and Stew. They brought us up to Little Red which we absolutely loved. There was plenty of room for myself, my wife and two daughters. Just a one minute walk away is the Refuge located right on the ocean where we enjoyed gorgeous sunrises each day. Stew also coordinated picking up fresh lobster from the dock which was incredible. Sue and Stew are incredible hosts and we would definitley stay again!

Relax and explore on Isle au Haut

Our hosts met us at the boat when we arrived. The hosts were great about letting us know about getting around the island and accessing trails, roads, kayaks, bikes and other ways to explore. The cottage is rustic, but supplied with all needed amenities. An experience best for those who enjoy being outside and relaxing in a simpler way of life. We also were able to connect and visit with the few island residents whom we already knew.

I have been wanting to visit the Isle au Haut for years and I finally made it happen this summer. We couldn't have been happier with Sue and Stew's "Little Red". There is so much history and character. In addition, the property sits on 12 acres with a beautiful view and access to the cove. The house has all the amenities that you would need to cook. The photos do not do the porch justice. The porch is a great place to sit and very airy because of the many windows. Our teenage daughter slept on the pullout couch and was able to close the door for privacy. On the property, there is also seating to relax by the water and a beautiful tiny house of "refuge". In addition, Sue and Stew are so kind and giving. They have a fleet of bikes for guests to use on the island, kayaks to explore the rocky shore and they even allowed us to use one of their cars. We rode our bikes to town and to the trailheads. We stayed 4 nights and thoroughly enjoyed this unique and magical island.

We stayed with Sue and Stew for a week this summer with our two children. We had a wonderful time at Turner Cove. Sue and Stew have a magical property and were so open to us and the kids running around picking blueberries, kayaking, and biking. I felt at ease knowing that they could help us with anything we might need given that we were in a more remote area. It made the trip very relaxing and easy. Thanks for all the tips and for being so sweet with the kids. We really enjoyed meeting you both and look forward to next time!!

Delightful experience!

I and my daughter could not have asked for a better experience. The place is wonderful with an additional lovely small cabin right by the coast; perfect for reading, writing or just resting. Our hosts were most generous and kind. They met us upon arrival at Isle au Haut harbor half a day earlier to make it more convenient for us, taught my disable daughter to kayak independently, lend us their car so we could explore the island, showed us how to cook lobster properly and more. Cannot wait to come back.

Wonderful and Adventurous

Sue and Stew were fantastic hosts. Very helpful and accommodating. House is adorable and has all the basics for cooking. Hiking was excellent with more trails than you could possibly cover in just a few days. Little buggy so bring lots of spray and just keep moving! General store has just the basics, we planned out our meals and brought little baggies/jars of any spices or ingredients we needed. We plan to go back in the future!

Our six day stay was absolutely wonderful. Isle au Haut offers a beautifully personal and quiet experience compared to the Maine mainland. We spent our days kayaking and exploring the stunning southern coast of the island in Acadia National Park, A massive thank you to our hosts, Sue and Stew. They were incredibly helpful, and without their hospitality, this island adventure wouldn't have been possible!
