Puma Hills River Ranch is a 3rd generation working ranch producing hay, grass fed
beef. The ranch includes 2.4 miles of the Tarryall River that meanders along the beautiful Tarryall Valley. The ranch is peaceful and secluded, yet with many services and adventures just minutes away. The guest house is nestled in the Puma Hills bordered by Pike National Forest overlooking the Tarryall River. From the picture window is a beautiful view of the river, our hay meadows and the mountains beyond.
Our guests can enjoy private fly fishing on the Tarryall River, hiking and biking and scenic views from every direction. There is a horseshoe pit and a campfire ring for warming your toes by the fire and viewing the endless array of stars. The guest house is clean, fully equipped and easily accessible.
In the evenings, guests like to relax on the patio with a refreshing drink while watching the river flow. On occasion a herd of elk or mule deer and a small group of big horn sheep will graze in the meadows below. Eagles, blue heron and many other birds hunt, feed or raise their young in the riparian areas, and some evenings the coyotes will sing to each other.
Bring your horse and ride the beautiful trails, bring your family for an unforgettable vacation or spend your honeymoon under the stars! Come and experience YOUR OWN PRIVATE PARADISE!
Puma Hills River Ranch is located on paved County Rd. 77. Just 7 miles northwest of Lake George, 50 miles northwest of Colorado Springs and 85 miles west of Denver.
We also have space for yoga and meditation retreats.

About Steve Allard
My grandparents bought this ranch in 1960. As a young boy, I worked on the ranch, fished the river and explored the mountains beyond. Through the years I have kept the ranch alive, continuing to enjoy and protect the land. Some years ago, I decided to open the ranch to travelers and share this unique and beautiful land with others. We hope you enjoy this peaceful place as much as we do!

A Wonderful Getaway
It was so good to get out of the city and be out in nature. Our 2 and 4 year olds loved exploring the property, both inside and out, and we did get to see some wildlife both on the property and in Pike National Forest. The house was amazingly clean as well, and we all loved watching the cows from the windows. We would definitely recommend this wonderful getaway!
Thank you for visiting and we'd love to have you come back! We'd love to see your young family again!
Quite and realxing
The owner Steve was great. We really felt at home while on vacation. looking forward to going back when we can do some fishing. Saw deer on the property. And took some pretty good Deep space pictures with the telescope. The drive to the town of Decker down road 211 had some of the best scenery Colorado has to offer.
We would be glad to have you visit anytime! Thanks so much for staying!
What an amazing stay!
We loved every second of our time on the Puma Ranch! It is such a beautiful property with increadble views. Steve was a wonderful host! Our mornings were spent relaxing and sipping coffee on the front pourch, while watching the steam rise off of the river! Our afternoons were filled with adventure of the local area - fishing, four-wheeling and more. Our 3-year-old was so sad to leave and so were we! We can't wait for the chance to come back and make more memories!
Rest on the river
It was great to step back in time at the Puma Hills Ranch! Peaceful and adventure are combined to create a wonderful getaway. Steve was very eager to ensure our stay exceeded expectations. We will be back!
Unplug from the world
My wife and I stayed 5 wonderful nights at Puma Hills River Ranch. The scenery is incredible and the property is very private. We spent days just sitting by the water, exploring the land, relaxing on the front porch and star gazing around the fire ring at night. During our stay we saw elk, mule deer, a beaver, a coyote and a very loving barn cat. We also learned to fly fish...Steve hooked us up with Tayloe, who was a great fishing guide and teacher.
While secluded, there is a lot to do within a 30 to 45 minute drive. Drove to Cripple Creek and Victor, where we found a great dirt road that wound around through the mountains for almost two hours. The drive was a great adventure that dumped us out near Canon City.
The house itself is very clean and well kept and provides everything you will need. But be prepared to be cut off from the rest of the world...which for us was great!
We had an amazing stay. The home is perfect and the property is fantastic. We were planning on spending 2 days on Pikes Peak, but made an entire day of hiking and exploring Steve and Jennifer's property and driving the trails of the Pike National Forest accessed from their place instead. We will definitely be coming back here.
