Overview

About the property

2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4-5)

Hello Travelers, We have just had a 4 week cancelation for the four weeks beginning August 12 through September 18. We have a beautiful two bedroom apartment in the Maine woods. Please read the reviews that our guests have written. For the last three summers we have been 85-90% full through June, July, August and most of September.

Our "apartment in the Maine woods' was built 2005 to attract our sons and their families to visit. We have 2 daughters in law to please so you know it is extra nice. It is pine paneled, has 2 bedrooms, a medium size living area, a single bath with a stall shower, a full kitchen and a deck overlooking Crockett Brook as it babbles by. Guests seem to love it. We provide all linen, most condiments, paper goods and most other thing you might need. We even supply tooth paste See our web site with a video of the apartment

OUR PHONE IS 813-417-3751.

It is 300 yard hike to Penobscot Bay. We frequently see raccoons, fox, porcupines and occasionally see deer, moose and skunks. Today we saw two fawns on our property.

All that and lobster too.

Our property is very kid friendly. Much for them to do here and in the area, sailing, water skiing, hiking, mountain climbing, rock climbing, biking, kayaking on Lake Megunticook and on the Penobscot Bay and more. Also many toys for toddlers plus a Pack N' Play.

Our guests like to go to Acadia National Park, Baxter State Park, Freeport (LL Bean plus outlet stores), Camden Hills State Park and Camden Harbor, which is 15 minutes away. Windjammer sailing rides and charter sailboat rides with Coast Guard licensed sailboat Captain Nancy Rowe are available in Camden. It is a beautiful (calender picture) area. There are many art galleries in the area including the Farnsworth Museum which features many works of the Wyeths.

Our rent for July, August and the first two weeks in September are $600.00 per week. May, June, the last 2 weeks of September and the month of October are $500 /week. Please call for current availability. We have just learned of a 3 week cancellation, Sept 3 through Sept 24. It is the best month for temps, bugs and light traffic.

We have LARGE SCREEN HDTV, WIFI, VCR, DIRECT TV, STEREO AND A BIG LIBRARY OF BOOKS AND DVDS. WE ALSO HAVE QUIET DAYS AND NIGHTS, GREAT READING OPPORTUNITIES AND "NAPPING". We aren't professional inn keepers but we do our best to make your Maine experience so MEMORABLE you will want to come back.

Thank you for your consideration.

About Judy and Skip Moore

We are retired. We love Maine. We've been here every summer since 1972. Our winter home is in the Tampa area in Florida. Judy was a Special Education teacher and now directs Tennis For Fun, a free weekly tennis clinic for Special Needs athletes. Awarded the United States Tennis Association's "Adaptive Tennis National Community Service Award for 2011". She does a Tennis For Fun Clinic here in Belfast for the summer and fall.

Judy and Skip Moore purchased this apartment in 1985

Why Judy and Skip Moore chose Camden

I spent half of my school days summers with my grand mother at Duck Trap. I fell in love with Maine. Maine is magic! We built this garage and apartment with the eye to availability for our sons and families. It has impressed our guests, many of our bookings are repeat guests. They have described the place as peaceful, serene, private, like home and one 'really cute'.

What makes this apartment unique

Privacy, serenity, extraordinarily nice accommodations for this price. Very helpful and friendly owners 75 feet away. Please read reviews written by our guests on this site. Thank you.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We enjoyed our month so much that we came back in '09. And we are coming back again for August 2010. Maine is MAGIC! We enjoyed the woods, the brook and the quiet. We enjoyed the walks with Judy and her blueberry muffins. The apartment was perfect for us.

Great location! Wonderful Hosts!!

  • 5 of 5

We loved our week at the Judy and Skip's cabin in the woods! Judy's blueberry muffins and chocolate mint brownies were a wonderful surprise. The cabin is fully stocked and very comfortable.

Although it's not located in The town of Camden, we were about 15 minutes north in North Port, Maine, it was no problem😊

We will defiantly be back!!!

Owner's Response: As we usually find, we get the nicest people here to enjoy our apartment in the Maine woods. They seem to enjoy the peacefulness of woods as much as anything. We hope Diane will 'definitely' be back. It is our goal to give you a vacation that you will want to repeat. Thank you. Skip and Judy Moore

We loved Mr. Skip and Mrs. Judy's place

  • 5 of 5

Our family of six stayed here. Three of the older children shared the bunk beds and we also had an infant use a pack and play that was provided. The place is very child friendly. You need not travel with toys as there are bins with toys for the kids. The apartment was very clean. The apartment truly has everything you need. They also provided beach items like toys and chairs. Mrs. Judy baked twice for our family. We really fell in love with Mrs. Judy and Mr. Skip as much as we did with their apartment. They were truly accommodating, friendly and just lovely people. We felt like they struck just the right balance with accommodating their guests and giving privacy to their guests. Lobster night in the apartment with Judy's help was memorable and a day on Megunticook lake with Skip who let all the children drive the boat was another. We loved that we could easily get to Camden, Belfast, Owls Head and Rockport. We will be back next year.

Wonderfully kept property that excexceeded our expectations!

  • 5 of 5

Skip and Judy made our stay in Maine effortless. They greeted us with brownies and left the light on because we arrived late at night. They had our beds made up and toiletries ready for us. The wood work in the apartment is beautiful and smells great. Everything was maintained nicely. The instruction book on things to do town and how to cook a lobster were very helpful! Plus Judy helped us get our lobsters. Skip took us on a fun boat ride and provided a nice tour and background of the lake. We absolutely loved our stay here and would recommend it to anyone who asked us. We would love to come back one day!

Just like family!

  • 5 of 5

This little apartment is adorable and comfortable, but what makes it truly special are the hosts. Skip and Judy will treat you like family. They know the area very well, point out little-known points of interest, recommend restaurants, and all the usual host-like duties. But here's the amazing bit: Judy will bake for you. Skip will take you out on his boat. They might even offer to let you use their laundry facilities! I happened to visit the week of my birthday and got homemade brownies, TWICE plus a birthday cake!! There were also fresh, warm blueberry muffins, cinnamon rolls, balloons, and singing! I cannot recommend this place enough, and my mother even asked at one point, "How do y'all get anyone to leave?!" It is an honest sentiment, I did not want to leave when our week was over and am already planning for our next trip. Plan to pack light, because Judy stocks the apartment with everything you'll need, even down to extra toothbrushes if you forget one. There were razors, shampoo, conditioner, soap, lotion, kids bath stuff, even a hair dryer. Plus, the fridge and kitchen had all the essentials, condiments, paper goods, even an ironing board and iron, even though I can't imagine anyone wanting to do that on vacation. There were sodas, water, eggs, coffee, way more than I expected. And I haven't even mentioned the actual location. So easy and centrally located, almost exactly halfway between Camden and Belfast, with a gorgeous stream running right behind the apartment, and an amazing deck to enjoy morning coffee. It was easy to get anywhere we needed to go, and there is a literal book full of great information compiled by our hosts and their former guests. Judy even gave us grocery store sale ads to help with grocery shopping. I can't say enough good things about this place and its owners. There were five of us, three adults and two rowdy kids, and we never felt crowded. There were toys for the kids, books, movies, reliable internet, cable TV, you name it. I cried the day we had to leave, and cannot wait to go back.

Owner's Response: Vanessa, we get the nicest guests. Your family and many like them seem to find our place and we love to show you our best. Most of the people who have stayed with us seem to be so much like us that it is easy to get to know you, to share the Maine we love and to treat you, ":just like family.". We hope you come back. It was fun having you here. Thanks for picking our apartment in the Maine woods.

Excellent!

  • 5 of 5

The apartment was comfortable, quiet, very clean and well maintained. I noticed that the carpet was a better quality than you see in most vacation rentals. The hosts are very nice people who go the extra mile to make sure their guests have the best possible stay. We were there Oct. 4-10, a great time to explore the beautiful Mid-coast area after many of the tourists have left.
