The Ardella Cottage is an oasis near Zion National Park. The family home of Ardella Heiner. Ardella's home was a family gathering spot since 1947. At her passing at 98 years of age, her great-niece purchased the home and the acre it sits on. The home has been beautifully restored and updated. The yard and gardens are also meticulously kept, like Ardella did even in the final years of her life. The Ardella Cottage is unlike any other vacation home! It is an experience, not just a house. It has all of the charm and sentiment you would want from a historic cottage, with every modern convenience and lots of space to escape from it all.

Great Stay

This house and location are amazing. You feel like you are in an entirely different place. So close to Zion and the hosts were extremely helpful. Great history to the house as well. Overall, it was a great experience and look forward to going back.

Amazing home!

As soon as I came across this property I knew I wanted to stay here! Not only is it stunning and cozy but it is fully stocked with everything you would ever need in a home. There were so many fun things for the kids to do and so many cozy spots for adults to relax. I didn’t want to leave. We will plan another Zion trip specifically to stay here again!

Peaceful and so fun

We could have stayed at the house the entire trip-and almost did. There was so much to explore on the property and in the house that we never wanted to leave. From the hidden garden, water slide, outdoor games, indoor games, movies, gourmet kitchen, and more. I could stay here for three weeks easily and enjoy every second.

Beautiful Welcoming Home

This home is absolutely gorgeous. Every detail of this home is inviting and beautiful. Every nook in the house has a relaxing appeal to sit and relax. Rooms for everyone to relax. Bedrooms are beautiful and very large. Bathrooms are stunning. After many days of hiking, coming home was so enjoyable. Sitting in the hot tub to help the muscles was AMAZING! The outside seating was peaceful and so enjoyable. I think we enjoyed the outside as much as the inside. Family time at its finest. Breakfast in the beautiful kitchen where everyone had a seat at the table and outside at the end of the day talking about the experience and enjoying the atmosphere and the beautiful Utah Weather. Thank you for the warm hospitality and the basket of goodies, fruit, yummy bread and delicious coffee. That coffee is now our favorite and we will be purchasing some for home. Thank you for helping us create fond family memories that will last a lifetime.

The Ardella Cottage is not just a place to rest your head. This beautiful home was thoughtfully restored with great attention to detail and a love of hosting in mind. We hosted a small bachelorette weekend here... our only regret was that we weren't able to share it with more people. We made an effort to have each meal in a new spot (there are 5 different dining tables!!) and to fully enjoy all of the nooks and crannies that you will find throughout the cottage. Pro tip - make sure to enjoy your morning coffee in the front room. The sunlight spills in and makes it the perfect spot to curl up with a book. Each bedroom had premium linens and duvets, the kitchen was stocked with everything you could possibly need (think food processor, kitchen aid stand mixer..!). There were truly no corners cut here. This cottage was an amazing place to celebrate our friend and make memories that will be reflected upon fondly for years to come. Thank you, Jean! You were a fantastic host and have a beautiful home. We all hope to bring our families to visit La Verkin someday soon.

Wagner Family Zion Vacation

The Ardella Cottage is a beautiful treasure of a home hidden away in an unassuming neighborhood. When you're driving up the street towards the property, there is a moment of "Umm.. did I make a mistake renting here?" But then you find the house and turn into the little driveway and get off the street and you're transported to a secret haven with so much tranquility and attention to detail that you realize you hit the jackpot of vacation rentals. The home is decorated perfectly with tons of soft couches to sink into with gorgeous throw pillows and cozy throw blankets everywhere. The kitchen is big and lovely, with room for many cooks and it is the most well-equipped kitchen--there is nothing lacking to prepare the most gourmet meals. The bedrooms are sweet as you can see in the pictures--but even better in person as the bed linens are all top quality and the beds wonderfully comfortable. The outdoor spaces are just as inviting as the inside with a trampoline, hot tub, large barbecue, fire pit, games like horseshoes and corn hole and a wonderful upstairs covered patio that was a favorite for morning coffee and evening wine. Our group was made up of six adults: me, my three adult children and one of their significant others and one of their BFFs. We balanced our time exploring Zion and Red Cliffs Recreation area with lots of time spent at the Ardella Cottage enjoying corn hole tournaments, abundant family meals, and wonderful relaxation. I hope that my family has the opportunity to stay in this wonderful home again in the future.

The rental was fabulous..... almost felt like we were staying in a home from a décor magazine. And the surprise basket with tasty goodies was another great surprise. My only regret (if I may say) was the sink counter in the master bath upstairs. Was too high for most of us - seems like it is built for taller folks. That apart we couldn't stop raving about the rental. Will surely be making visits in the future Thanks Jean, loved it!

Overall a great stay. The location of the cottage was right near the road leading to Zion national park which was the main part of our family vacation. The cottage definitely comfortable and cozy. Of all our travels, this was one of the coolest places we've stayed. Every design element has been thought out. So many places to relax after a long day of hiking. Top notch kitchen appliances and cookware. Everything was perfect! Couldn't have asked for a better place to stay the week.

This place wasn't just a place to stay, this was a place with a soul. From all the decorations and comfy linens, to the thoughtful q-tips and cotton balls in the bathrooms to the tea kettle and tea cups to the beautiful backyard, tvs in every room, to the swing, fire pit and hot tub, this home was magical. Jean was the best hostess and was do sweet and responsive when we had a question. My kids and I never wanted to leave. We will be back.

The Ardella Cottage is a perfect place for rest and relaxation in between all the outdoor adventure Southern Utah has to offer. The host has created a magical experience through beautiful home interiors, well appointed kitchen and comfortable bedrooms. Highly encourage guests to PLAN time at the cottage - you will want to spend time enjoying all the amenities...huge backyard, lovely patio, fire pit, outdoor grill, hot tub. There are also several comfie nooks to curl up with a good book or even do some yoga (recommend the alcove off the upstairs bedroom facing the backyard...heaven). Great for families or girls trip!

Beautiful house that is great for small kids

This property was absolutely amazing and perfect for my family. We brought along two small children (1y and 3y) and they had a blast on the trampoline and playing in the yard. The house is well stocked with plenty of games and books and kids activities. There was a high chair, a pack n play, and all of the utensils that we could need. Upstairs there is even a tiny little kid's play nook that is so much fun for small kids. The property was beautiful and extremely clean. Jean was a great host and always very responsive to my communication. Check in and check out went smoothly. There are lots of great hikes in the area, plus Zion of course. The only slight downside was the neighborhood. It's not a bad neighborhood, but this property definitely stands out with how pristine and clean it is. Luckily the property is large enough and surrounded by trees and bushes so you don't really see the couch sitting on the neighbor's lawn unless you're coming and going.

I grew up in the small Southern Utah town of LaVerkin and loved my childhood in beautiful Southern Utah. I'm the great-niece of Ardella Heiner, one of the daughters of Henry and Susanna Gubler, who were the original settlers of LaVerkin, Utah. Ardella built and lived in The Ardella Cottage from the time of its creation in the 1940s until her death a couple of years ago. I grew up in LaVerkin and have the fondest memories of this town and especially spending time at the cottage as a child. Because of my love of Southern Utah, my sweetheart and I were excited when we got the opportunity to own, remodel, and share this special place with you. Turning this into a vacation retreat has been a labor of love and we are so excited for you to feel all the love that has gone into it.

We love Southern Utah! I worked at Zion National Park through my teen years. My parents got engaged there. Zion and the surrounding areas are very special to my family and we are excited for you to experience the majesty of it for yourselves.

We love movies, yummy grub, good people, good conversation, hiking, horses. We love family and consider our guests to be an extension of our family!

Why they chose this property

There is no where else on Earth like this cottage. It was built by my grandfather, designed by my Grandmother and added on to over time, creating a unique floorplan with plenty of nooks and crannies. It has been meticulously re-designed to have every modern convenience and comfort while keeping the charm and cozy feel of an old cottage. It is surprisingly big and can accommodate many guests comfortably. Look for surprises for the children to discover through out the upstairs and the gardens. We have outdoor games and so many things to do at the property that you may never want to leave, but our proximity to Zion National Park and other exciting outdoor destinations make the cottage a great base for Southern Utah adventurers.

What makes this property unique

The yard is like a park and includes a fire pit and outdoor cooking. Each room has a tv and streaming services, plus its own climate control. Walls are thick, so you can stay with a large crowd and still have privacy.
