Overview

About the property

Townhome, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-3)

Special offers are in effect for this summer, which you will hear details about only if you call 978-761-3149 prior to booking. This also includes some reductions in your cost depending on the week and current vacancies.

This charming, romantic one bedroom townhouse is located in a quiet, seaside neighborhood on the desirable Rocky Neck in Gloucester Harbor. It has water views and boating access and is just steps away from the water. Water/small beach access is around the corner. Rocky Neck is a fun, festive art colony with many active music-filled restaurants and art galleries. There is a nearby theater company. This house is on a very private street which ends at the water and so has no thru traffic.

The living room and bedroom both have a little water view.

You can relax and eat outside on the pretty sun deck off the living room, or gravel terrace below, with patio furniture and flower boxes, and landscaping.

Gas Grill

King sized bed upstairs

Bathroom is upstairs, with stand up shower and small tub

Easily sleeps two, but can accommodate 3-4 with full-size sleep sofa

High quality linens for bed and bath.

There are a few antique furnishings in the bedroom and living room.

There is a bedroom ceiling fan and AC (usually not needed) is on both floors. Sea breezes right off the Atlantic often create a lovely freshness to the place.

There is plenty of storage space.

The kitchen is amply-sized and has all the modern conveniences, including a new Keurig and also large appliances which are new within the last 5-6 years. It also has been updated with lovely, new white quartz and maple counters, as well as granite sink .

There are laundry facilities in the basement for your use.

There is private parking for your car. (I recently enlarged the driveway/parking area due to having to take down a large tree back there).

This is a safe and friendly area where people often don't even lock doors! But it's probably a good idea to lock anyway and we have security cameras, for your added security and comfort.

If you don't bring your car, you can get around by cab, bus, water taxi or bikes (but beware of local drivers!). I do recommend a car to take full and easy advantage of the area and region, however.

It is a great getaway for a couple or single person to enjoy the summer in this lovely area. Gloucester and Cape Ann abound with many cultural and recreational activities, such as in Gloucester: whale watching, large sailboat cruises and many cultural activities and events from Saint Peter's Fiesta in late June to the Tall Ships Parade and Mayor's Cup Race over Labor Day. Also, in Rockport you can find Kayak and bike rentals (and you can schmooze around Bear Skin Neck in Rockport while you're there),

This is available for:

before June 15 and after September 15th: $850 week,

June 15-Sept 15th $900/week,

plus $50 cleaning fees, depending on dates and duration of stay.

Plus VRBO fees if you reserve on line.

About Elizabeth Lewis

I'm a physical therapist who is currently working full time. I love this area for all it's charm, natural beauty, availability of outdoor recreation, it's culture and it's quirky, artsy people! Photo was taken at the Beauport Museum yard, (Beauport is close by on Eastern Point and was the home of an arts/antiques collector from the 20's-30's). When I'm not working, I sometimes go kayaking or in the ocean, take long walks on or along the beach with friends, hike in the woods or enjoy many of the cultural opportunities in the area. I look forward meeting my summer guests and giving tips on great places to go or to eat, if you'd like to know!

Elizabeth Lewis purchased this townhome in 1991

Why Elizabeth Lewis chose North of Boston & Greater Merrimack Valley

I decided to buy a vacation rental in this location because I wanted to spend time on Cape Ann, especially Rocky Neck, which is a beautiful and unique place, year round. I love to go hear the music 'on the Neck' on summer evenings or even taking a walk around Rocky Neck anytime. It's an easy trip to the water to paddle a boat or go for a swim.

What makes this townhome unique

Staying at this property is wonderful. As described in the listing, there are water views from the property and beautiful views all around, just steps away. You will find that the place is quiet, clean and charming and as many artists have said, the light is unique on Rocky Neck (and Cape Ann), which is why it attracts many artists. Almost any road on Rocky Neck has some kind of view of the water, so you can see great beauty from dawn to dusk and then there's the night sky....!

There are lots of fun things to do just an easy walk away from the property on Rocky Neck in the summer, as it's still a flourishing 'art colony'.

You will enjoy taking walks to several beaches, from here. It's just great!

Car: recommended

There is a wonderful live theater company which you can walk to in 7 minutes! There is usually a water taxi to connect to Ten Pound Island and also downtown without a car. I do recommend a car to most easily take advantage of this wonderful area. There is a Maritime Heritage Center downtown, with kid friendly exhibits including an outdoor tide pool aquarium. There is a movie theater downtown with art films and couches and you can bring your own food and wine or order in. There are so many cultural and fun in or outdoor activities to do here.....I could go on and on!!!

A cozy, tranquil retreat on lovely Rocky Neck

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I just spent 2 weeks at this delightful apartment.

It is just as shown in the photos, very well equipped and stocked and has a very comfortable king size bed. We particularly enjoyed the small deck with table, umbrella and chairs just off the living room where we ate breakfast and other meals. There was always a delightful breeze off the water which is in view of the deck.

Rocky Neck is a perfect location, surrounded by water, a bit off the busier main area of Gloucester and there was a small quiet beach a very short stroll from the apartment. Elizabeth was a lovely host and we are looking forward to returning in the summer of 2018.

Cozy, charming apartment for two in the heart of Rocky Neck

  • 4 of 5

Perfectly located on a quiet back street of picturesque Rocky Neck, this homey apartment has real beach-holiday flavor. Step around the corner for a breath-taking morning swim or sunset on the beach. Enjoy the galleries, restaurants, café and ice cream shop less than 5 minutes on foot. Elizabeth is an attentive but discrete hostess who has thought of everything!

Cozy retreat...close to everything. Art Galleries, beaches "Last Stop"

  • 5 of 5

A hideaway built for two in a historic home in Rocky Neck, the oldest art colony in the US. Galleries, walkable to several beaches, a professional theatre with world class productions, and a charming deli/country store "The Last Stop". Check out their baked goods especially the muffins and sandwiches. Short drive to downtown Gloucester and the historic Harbor Loop just a water taxi or trolley ride away. Gloucester's restaurants and seafood are legendary. The circular staircase is a definite plus! Owner, Elizabeth, is extremely helpful and friendly. Our annual destination for 4th of July week.

Great location in Gloucester, close enough to easily get to attractions and amenities, but removed enough within a quiet neighborhood to feel like a getaway. Artists galleries, terrific seafood restaurant and a cool little breakfast/lunch joint, all within easy walking distance. The place feels cozy without feeling cramped. The kitchen is well laid out, and the up-the-spiral staircase bedroom is a wonderful refuge in of itself. The huge extra wide bed was paradise for a couple who really like to spread out. The side porch was a favorite place for outdoor meals and hanging out. Tons of quality tourist things to do nearby, as plenty of opportunities to commune with nature on land or sea. Owner Elizabeth got us quickly oriented and up to speed with the local scene right away and was super easy to coordinate with. She and her place afforded us a much needed and appreciated respite.

Very Relaxing

  • 5 of 5

Exactly what I needed! Wonderful location, quiet street, close to EVERYTHING Gloucester has to offer and walking distance to great food on Rocky Neck. Beautiful Cove with little beach at low tide, lots of shelling and able to put in a paddle board and off you go around the Gloucester harbors. Clean and highly recommend. Will go back again for sure! Thank you Elizabeth.

A Wonderful September Week

  • 5 of 5

"Rocky Neck Hideaway" is aptly named. We were thrilled to find this moderately priced, clean, well-equipped rental. Although small, it's nicely laid out, and the two levels make it feel larger. We enjoyed fun walks around Rocky Neck, with its art galleries, restaurants, and interesting houses; a walk of less than a mile to Niles Beach; a walk of less than 2 miles to Good Harbor Beach; and a kayaking trip. The Last Stop Variety, also in walking distance, was great for forgotten items AND delicious muffins. It was easy to drive to downtown Gloucester and elsewhere on Cape Ann. The owner, Elizabeth, is friendly and helpful. We'll definitely consider a return trip!
