Kicking Horse Lodges at Granby Ranch are nestled in the secluded Fraser Valley at the heart of Grand County. The sparkling Fraser River meanders through it, the majestic peaks of Rocky Mountain National Park and the Indian Peaks Wilderness encircle it, and one of the largest Elk Preserves in Colorado inhabits it. The Ute and Arapahoe Indians, and President Eisenhower were known to favor this area, and it’s easy to see why, with its rolling grasslands, forested peaks, and trout-filled waters.

Located seventy miles northwest of Denver, Colorado via Interstate 70 west to exit 232 (Hwy 40). Located two miles from Granby, 15 miles north of Winter Park, less than 25 miles from Rocky Mountain National Park, and only 15 miles down the road from Grand Lake (Colorado’s largest natural body of water boasting 150 miles of shoreline!).

Welcome to the most family-friendly ski mountain you’ll find anywhere. Two separate yet interconnected mountains make this a skiing experience everyone can enjoy. While the East Mountain is a beginner and intermediate skier’s paradise, the West Mountain offers terrain to whet the appetite of more advanced skiers. Granby Ranch ski resort is the perfect place for kids and parents alike, as all runs lead to a single location at the base. The newly completed Base Camp Lodge, which houses a dining hall, Granby Ranch Grille, Higher Grounds Coffee Shop, also has an outdoor fire pit for gathering around at the end of the day.

For a change of pace, Granby Ranch offers 25km of maintained Nordic trails which sprawl across the beautiful Granby Ranch area. Maps for nearby Nordic trails are posted in the three ring binder available to guests. A short free shuttle ride takes you to the incredible Winter Park resort for ultimate Colorado fun!

With views of the Continental Divide to the west and the Granby Ranch Basin to the south, the scenery doesn’t get much better than what you’ll find at Headwaters golf coarse. Redesigned by the Jack Nicholas Design Group to become one of the finest golf venues in the Rocky Mountains, the course promises a challenging and enjoyable experience for all players. 18 hole par 72 golf course with driving range and three chipping/putting greens. This is truly a hidden gem! Other golf courses in the area include Grand Elk, Grand Lake and Pole Creek courses.

About Ryan

My husband and I met on a backpacking trip in the Colorado Mountains, and have been escaping together to the majestic beauty of the high country ever since. We never run out of places to explore and adventures share, which made Grand County the perfect location for us to invest in a place of our own. There are endless options of things to do and see here, all under the glorious Colorado sunshine! We hope that you’ll enjoy all that Granby Ranch/Grand County has to offer! Sarah and Ryan, Denver, CO.

Ryan purchased this condo in 2008

Why Ryan chose Granby

Almost from the moment we first explored Granby Ranch did we realize how comfortable and relaxed we felt. There's no comparison to the serenity and ease of life we enjoy while we're at our condo. The short drive from Denver, and the nearby grocery store and town, make Granby Ranch an easy, stress-free escape. And the people we've met here are friendly, down-to-earth folks enjoying a laid-back getaway with their families.

What makes this condo unique

We offer the guests access to the private heated pool area at the Ski Granby Ranch base area.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Great Condo

  • 5 of 5

Loved it! Beds we're comfortable. Ground floor so no hauling luggage up stairs. Condo was clean. Kitchen was well stocked with dishes and appliances. Nice to have extra space to relax.

Lovely condo

  • 3 of 5

We loved our stay in your beautiful Granby condo. Great location and perfect view! However, we could have used more bathroom and kitchen hand towels (only 1 of each for an entire week). Also in the condo description of the bedrooms, it mentioned a king size bed, a queen size bed, and bunk beds. However, there was no queen size bed in the condo.

Owner's Response: I apoologize about the lack of towels and will make sure our cleaning people make plenty avaliable for future rentals. As for the bed situation, I specifically emailed the guest to review the listing for beds which states that the pull out couch is a queen bed, which it was for the 5 day stay. There is also a washer and dryer avaliable in the condo..

Great summer rental

  • 5 of 5

We had a great week of summer Colorado fun in this cute rental. It was clean, well appointed, and the beds were super comfy. It was perfect for our family of four. Close to many of the trails we came to hike. Would stay here again! Thanks for sharing!

Nice place and a good central location

  • 5 of 5

The condo is up to date with granite counters and stained wood trim inside. The bed and pillows were comfortable and the area was quiet. Location is perfect for seeing the sites in the Rocky Mtn National Forest as well as Idaho Springs. There is also a grocery store across the highway which made it really convenient to pickup stuff on our way back from site seeing. The hosts were responsive and we enjoyed our stay; would stay again.

Nice Condo

  • 4 of 5

This is a nice condo conveniently located for sightseeing in RMNP. I was at Granby Ranch for a wedding and thoroughly enjoyed my small amount of down time. The beds were very comfortable which was wonderful after days of hiking!

The condo is nicely decorated, clean, and stocked with all you need for a home away from home.

The only reason I am not giving it 5 stars is because the view is limited. There was nothing bad about the condo itself!

The best family ski vacation

  • 5 of 5

From the minute we walked in the door we felt like we were at home. They have thought of everything for your stay. The ski runs were perfect for a family. Very short lines and extremely affordable. Ski school was priceless with wonderful teachers. We would also recommend fly fishing in Silverthorne, tubing and snowmobiling in Fraser. So much to do. We will be back. Thank you Ryan for making our vacation perfect.
