YOUR HOSTS: Tim in Theresa found this hidden gem while looking for a lake front property in NH and ME to unplug from the craziness of the world around us. We fell in love with the home as soon as we saw it because of the serene surroundings and the restful feeling of being away from it all. We live and work in Massachusetts and love that we can shoot up to this lovely home in a little over an hour. We have 3 busy, youngish girls and a dog named Ozzy. We hope you will find your stay peaceful and relaxing and you will leave with many fond memories of your time with loved ones.

About the host
Hosted by Tim Smith
Just your standard working folks with youngish children and a dog. If you look hard you'll find a picture of Ozwald, our 'sort-of' lake dog who is afraid of the water (but getting better!)
Why they chose this property
Having lived in and then maintained a property in Boston after we moved north, we were looking for something at the other end of the 'city living' spectrum. We had scoured Maine and New Hampshire (and VT a little bit) when we came across this little gem. Province Lake never came up on the radar in our prior searches but when we saw it we loved the out of the way vibe it offered relative to some of the larger lakes. At approx. 1000 acers Province Lake is by no means small, but it seems light years away from the hustle and bustle often found on ‘big’ lakes.
What makes this property unique
From Rt. 16 it takes a 25 minute drive down a relatively rustic but very well maintained road (153) to get to the property. You won't find a big-box store or suburban sprawl anywhere near Province Lake. We like the fact that the home is really not a classic camp, but a sturdy, 4 season home that allows for full enjoyment of the fall and winter seasons. In the warmer months the shallow, sandy-bottomed area provides a fun and safe environment for younger children, while those looking for a little more adventure can paddle out to deeper waters. The golf course is challenging yet forgiving and virtually right around the corner! The well-regarded restaurant at the course (Carriage House and Bistro) is open year-round and the property is popular with cross-country skiers in the winter months (though not formally groomed)... Speaking of winter activities, both the King Pines Ski Area in Madison and the Abenaki Ski Area in scenic Wolfeboro are less than 30min. away. Cranmore in ever-popular North Conway is approx. 50 minutes away. The location is also in close proximity to the 'route 19' snow-mobile corridor which allows access to the North East's extensive primary trail system. Or just sit back, read a book and try to spot the eagle.
