Cozy Country Chalet Between Downtown & Ski Resort

Private, cozy and quaint, your chalet in the Animas Valley awaits. With its beautiful mountain views, proximity to downtown Durango and Purgatory Resort, it's the ideal location for your next getaway. This one bedroom plus loft home is perfect for a small family wanting to be close to all Durango has to offer or a couple looking for a romantic retreat. Sitting on 3 acres, there's plenty of room to play outdoor games. Smart TV and high speed internet. Kitchen is stocked with all essentials. There's also a free "library" of books.

This charming home boasts rustic furniture that has been hand crafted using the finest wood from the San Juan National Forest. Gorgeous mountain views right from the front porch. Keurig coffee maker with pods upon your arrival. There are books for people of all ages as well as board games. The kitchen is fully stocked as well. Let this be your home away from home.

Nestled between downtown Durango and Purgatory Ski Resort. Approximately 10 miles away from both. You'll find all that Southwest Colorado has to offer is conveniently located very closely to our location.

Staying in this home ensures a parking space for one passenger vehicle. If you need space for a 2nd vehicle, you just need to contact me in advance and I will make arrangements for you to be able to park that 2nd vehicle.

Anything other than a passenger vehicle (ie - trailer, camper, etc) must also be advised in advance. It can most likely be accommodated but in order to ensure a space, you must let me know in advance.

***Please contact me in advance of booking with pets. There will be an additional $25 pet fee required per dog. I'm sorry but there are no cats allowed. Dogs must be kenneled if kept inside the home alone.

***DO NOT FLUSH ANYTHING OTHER THAN TOILET PAPER IN OUR TOILETS. We have a sensitive septic system. Do not flush any wipes (baby wipes, flushable wipes etc) nor any feminine products in our toilets. Doing so will wreak havoc on our septic system and cause you to incur a $500 fine.

***All towles are to remain on site. They are not to be brought to the hot springs or on a hike or used to clean with. If the towels are stained, there will be an additional $25 charge for bath towels, $10 for hand towels, $5 for wash cloths.

***ABSOLUTELY NO PARTIES ALLOWED. Your reservation will be cancelled and you will be forced to leave immediately if this rule is not abided by.

***No smoking of any kind is allowed inside the home. Doing so will cause you to incur a $100 fine.

Mountain perfection

Couldn't have been happier with our VRBO and with the host. Nice and clean and full equipped for enjoyment. Super Deck looked out onto gorgeous Mountain scenery and access to Durango was great. I highly recommend this site and the host.

Great relaxing getaway - near Colorado Timberline Academy

We were bringing my kiddo back from Spring Break and decided to stay an extra night and found this cute little A-frame not even 1/2 mile down the road. Super convenient, easy to find and Vita was awesome with communication.

Cute property located in a very convenient area. It was an easy drive to Durango or venturing up the million dollar highway toward Ouray. Great communication with Vita. She was very accommodating. Sitting out on the front porch you had an amazing view of the mountains along with the wildlife. Great property for a Colorado getaway.

A-Frame Weekend in Durango

It was perfect for our short stay in the area. Comfortable bed and a kitchen with all the basics. Quiet with the sound of a creek off in the distance with horses grazing in view. Good value for the price. Easy drive also to Silverton & Ouray as a day trip.

Overall, very cute and cozy home! The beds were very comfortable. We even heard an elk call while we were there! It was very dark when we arrived late at night. Some outdoor lighting would have been helpful but we used our phone flashlights. The electrical outlet in the bathroom didn’t work but other than that, we really enjoyed the home. It was easy to find, had all amenities we needed and the owner was very responsive to our concerns. Thank you for sharing your home with us!

This was a great stay! Very close to downtown Durango. The property manager was very helpful, and all our questions were answered in a timely manner. Super host! We highly recommend the property to anyone interested in visiting this beautiful area of Colorado. Most properties do not accept dogs but in this property we were able to bring our service dog.

Quaint cabin

If you are looking for a rustic getaway, this is the place for you. I emplore you, please don't go in summer or early fall. We booked our trip I early Sept. When we arrived the spiders were everywhere and the temp in the cabin was over 90 degrees. There is no ac in this cabin. Management response was we can bring you some fans. We were there 2 hours and left. 4 day trip spent in a hotel, money was wasted due to cancelation policy. Be aware before you book

Cabin was sweltering, small air conditioner, no cross ventilation. We have stayed in cabins in CO before without air conditioning that had screens on windows and fans with no problem - this was not the case. Comforter smelled strongly of BO. 1/2 door from kitchen into bathroom. Electric in bathroom didn't work. stayed 1 night & checked out. Host won't refund money.

Ideally situated for Durango or Purgatory

This property is exactly as advertised. It is situated between Purgatory ski resort and Durango so is VERY accessible to both. If I were a skier, this place is perfect. It is right on the hwy so when outside you will hear the traffic, but you will also get to see the train-how cool is that?! The A frame we stayed in is small so even though it sleeps 4, it would be tough to hang out with 4 people if that is your intention. For the two of us, it was perfect. The host is the best communicator ever and will go out of her way to make sure your needs are met. She even took care of pet by leaving a blanket for her. The place was also so clean when we arrived. Thanks so much for everything.

Wonderful

Nice place and great location. Lots of recent upgrades to the property. Super responsive and friendly hosts. They really know the area and gave us lots of good insider tips like hiking trails and things to do. Highly recommend and I would like to go back in the winter.

Quiet, rustic cabins

This is my second time staying on this property. It is very dog friendly! They are doing a lot of landscaping and other improvements. Last time I stayed was in October, this time was in late May. As advertised, the A-frame cabin to get did get very very hot during the day. Just need to open windows and turn on a bunch of fans as soon as the sun sets and it’s not a big deal if you are out and about during the afternoon.
