Bucking Mule Guest House is a clean modern 500 sf. studio located in Durango Colorado. Only six blocks from Downtown Durango, and one block from the Horse Gulch trail system, our guesthouse is in the perfect location if you like to walk or bike around town. Our guesthouse has an 800 sf. private courtyard with patio furnishings, BBQ, and beautiful outdoor eating table. Securely fenced it is ideal for pets and children. Fully landscaped and very private. There is also a locked shed for bike storage available for your use.

The guest house has a Japanese soaking tub with custom spa 'bath room'; walk-in travertine shower. In the Japanese bath tradition, the toilet room is separate from the bath room. There are bath sheets and robes provided.

Stained concrete floors have in-floor heat for cozy winter comfort . Contemporary design with a western flair, we call our decorating style zen cowboy. There is a super comfortable Tempurpedic style bed complete with Ralph Lauren linens and a down comforter. Also, in the same room, is a very comfortable queen sized leather pull out couch.

Durango Natural Foods, our local natural foods store is just across the street. Walk to breakfast at College Drive Cafe (the best breakfast in town) or Durango Joes coffee house, both located within a block of our guest house. Home Slice Pizza, Raider Ridge Cafe, CJ's Diner and 8th Ave Tavern are all within a block or two.

This is a green built studio with a Solar electric power system. Feel good about staying here and reducing your carbon footprint while relaxing.

Flat screen TV with DVD and free WiFi making it ideal for business travelers. Pets and children are welcome.

The guest house is located next to the best trail system in Durango: Horse Gulch Trails. If you hike or bike you will be in Georgia O'Keefe heaven.

Convenient and Cozy

  • 5 of 5

We used it for our home base for a couple of days around Durango. We found the location great- it was close to everything and yet much quieter than Main Street. The patio was nice to enjoy a evening drink on. The decor was nice and yet clean. It was a perfect spot to relax.

Our only negative was that the doorless shower tended to make a mess in the bathroom.

WE would definitely stay again.

Comfortable, conveniently located, dog-friendly studio

  • 4 of 5

Very comfortable, clean, and convenient for walking to restaurants and downtown. Only drawback to that is the busy road it's located on which means lots of traffic noise. Owner was very responsive, had the place well-stocked, and gave great restaurant recommendations. Beautiful bathroom! Fenced in courtyard was great for our little dog. Really enjoyed our stay!

Lovely retreat

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I wanted to take a Colorado road trip to get away from the everyday hustle and bustle. Having not been to Durango in many years, Durango became our choice. When I saw the photos of Bucking Mule, I thought it was cute and would fit our needs. Once we arrived I saw that it was all that and more. This place is so well appointed and very comfortable. It has lots of little extras, like robes, etc.. Bucking Mule was our perfect retreat and Holly was available with any questions we had.

Perfect for our Needs- Pet Friendly!

  • 5 of 5

We were just going to be in Durango for a few nights and needed a place to lay our heads after our days of exploring. It sure fit these needs!

This is a darling place- close to DT (We did not walk to DT from here, did not want to cross this intersection with our pup- but that is just us!), but enough away from the busyness of DT.

It is exactly like the description of the rooms, separate bathroom and toilet, shared washer and dryer, and outside patio and grill. The fenced in area was perfect to let our pup out to do her thing. As she mentions, still watch your dog because all fences could have escape places.

It was very quiet too! I was expecting some road noise from the location but we did not hear a thing!

This had to be one of the best VRBOs I have stayed at in the way of cooking supplies, kitchen items and amenities in the bathroom. I was impressed with all the special touches. The soaking tub was so fun! The shower was gorgeous! It does splash a bit, but nothing the floor mat can not adsorb.

If we ever make it back to Durango we would for sure check out this place again! Or even the house in front. It might be too big for our needs though!

P.S. Look at the Leather Binder right when you get there! I did not look at it until we were on our way out. :( It has great suggestions for dinner and tons of helpful advice.

Thanks for opening up the Bucking Mule- we loved it.

Sweet Outdoor Space!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the Bucking Mule Studio for 4 nights and enjoyed every minute! It was clean, modern, bed was comfy, and all small necessities were provided - even washer & dryer access. We walked to main street each night. Our favorite feature, though, was the patio. We loved sitting out there in the evenings & even grilled one night. Perfect space for our dog, too. Highly recommend!
