About The Owner

We are Minnesotans who love to escape the harsh northern winters. We chose Maui as our vacation/ retirement home because it has great, dependable weather, exotic scenery and the constant sound of surf, no matter how calm the sea. Every time we arrive on Maui we are filled with the wonderment of an 8 year old arriving at Disney World. That feeling absolutely never fades, no matter how many times we return to the island! We feel homesick when we leave and count down our "DTMs" (days 'til Maui) when we can return.

Unlike many condo owners, who have the misfortune of only visiting their condos once or twice per year, we are blessed to be able to stay at the condo approximately every 3-4months. While we are there, we completely re-stock the condo and make sure that all appliances and amenities are in perfect condition. From the well-stocked spices, kitchen staples, paper supplies, soaps, detergents, cleaners, dishes, high-end cookware, kitchen appliances and gadgets, to the ample beach chairs, umbrellas, tent, mats, coolers, beach towels, boogie boards, hair dryers, DVD's, board games, high-end linens, etc, we are confident that you will not find a more fully-stocked or better-maintained condo anywhere on Maui! Our goal is that our guests will not feel they are staying in a rental unit, but rather, in the home of good friends, which many of our guests become! We are delighted to be able to share our home-away-from-home with you, and would like to count you among the many guests who have become new friends and who return year after year.

Why The Owner chose Kihei

Kihei is nearly alway sunny, has spectacular sunsets with lovely views of neighboring islands, a ringside seat for watching humpback whales from December to April, and is close to virtually anything a person would want to do on Maui. The Royal Mauian is a well-maintained property, with friendly, attentive staff, and is one of the few places on Maui where one can fall asleep and awaken to the sound of the surf just outside one's bedroom window... (I'm homesick just writing this.) Unlike The Royal Mauian, most other vacation properties on Maui are across a busy street or even further away from the ocean.

What makes this condo unique

Enjoy walking the gorgeous sandy beaches -- they extend from about a mile north of the Royal Mauian to over 5 miles south. Along that stretch to the south, is a beach-front bar/restaurant called the 5 Palms, where a person can sit on the beach and enjoy a cold drink or a nibble while contemplating the goodness of life. There is an excellent deli/ organic food store, several excellent restaurants, and a multitude of other shops and services just across S. Kihei Road. Anything requiring a car is generally no more than a 10-20 minute drive, but you could truly have a wonderful vacation without ever getting behind the wheel. The ocean, the beaches, and lounging on the lanai are the focal points of this experience.

Glass block, Italian marble showers in each bath, double sinks in master bath, 3 HD TV's with cable & DVD's, built-in entertainment center with Bose 3-2-1 sound system, 2 Bose bluetooth Soundtouch 10's, stainless steel KitchenAid appliances, in-unit washer/dryer, 3 separately-regulated air-conditioning units, and free high speed WiFi. The condo features a collection of Hawaiian art, including an original Giclee by Walfrido and Edgardo Garcia II, entitled 'Home is Where the Heart Is' depicting the Hawaiian seacoast with its creatures, in amazingly vibrant colors. This condo is our home every 3 months; therefore, it is maintained and stocked as you would expect in the home of friends. The condo is our pride and joy, and we are happy to be able to share it with our guests.

Car: not necessary

Without leaving the lanai enjoy a ringside seat for viewing mother whales teaching their babies how to breech (December through April), as well as families of sea turtles and schools of dolphins directly in front of the condo year round. Also enjoy excellent snorkeling directly in front of the condo year round. The lanai features the sought after '5 island view' and some of the most breath-taking sunsets anywhere!
