Durango getaway

My husband & I found this fabulous rental months ago to escape the Las Vegas heat. This home is perfect! Flo's photos online were enough to capture our hearts, but when we arrived, it was even more inviting & comfortable, and the views of the mountains were stunning! The neighborhood was quiet, clean, the neighbors were friendly. The home had everything you could need & then some. The kitchen was well equipped for those that like to cook like me & my husband. We also loved sitting on the front patio in the morning with our coffee/tea, and taking in our moments of "awe" at the mountains in the distance. The backyard patio was very comfortable, and we enjoyed eating our evening meals outside, and every so often, an occasional deer would walk through the high part of the yard. There are many hiking and biking trails nearby; it is also a short drive, bike ride, or even walk to downtown Durango for a bite to eat or a walk or bike ride along the Animas River. We loved this home! Flo was very responsive to our questions, and we appreciate that she opened her home to be a rental. We had a wonderful month in Durango!

Great house with views in Durango

Great house with great owners! The house is beautiful with views of the mountains looking West and BLM forest in the backyard. Simply amazing!

Durango stay

Property is nice, beautiful home with modern appliances, comfortable furniture, etc. Particularly good porch and outdoor area. Friendly neighborhood and neighbors. However, owners tried to charge us additional money for supposed extra cleaning, despite us spending a few hours cleaning everything before leaving - and definitely leaving it at or above the standard of most VRBO homes. Complaints came from very small details (e.g. few grease spots left on stove hood). Would be very wary of renting here again given those unreasonable expectations.

Despite the fact that the renters claim to have cleaned for hours before leaving, the stove and the hood were covered in cooking grease (hood filter was dripping of grease). I also found tater tots on the floor. And I am not picky (I have been a landlord for years). Every kitchen cabinet door/drawer had drip marks of food and grease. I don't get my own kitchen THAT dirty in a year and they were there for only 45 days. The stove top had burned grease that could not even be removed by the cleaning person. I also had to throw away 2 pans that had burned grease that could not be cleaned. My fault was not to charge enough for cleaning in the first place (it is my second time renting my place and the first set of renters left the place in normal standard level of use - normal "dirt"). These renters also made a dent in our stainless steel fridge door that I have to look at every day because it could not be fixed. They also broke a clothes dry rack. That is not what I consider "at or above standard" of most VRBO homes. So, I would not rent to these renters again.
