This home offers the best of what a vacation should be: Gentian Cottage is sunny, clean and welcoming, the location is stunning with gorgeous views, and there is easy access by car to all the best Ireland has to offer! In addition, Ann is a uniquely kind and generous owner who will make sure your stay is perfect.

A great place with a great host

  • 5 of 5

Three couples ages 60 thru 68 thouroughly enjoyed their 4 day stay at Ann''s Gentian Cottage in March of 2016. It provided beautiful views from sunny rooms and was a fine base from which to explore he sights and sounds of County Clare. The taxi-van service to Doolin for a late, driving free, night out was ideal. Would go back in a heartbeat if only there weren't so many more parts of the world to explore.

Happy Honeymoon!

  • 5 of 5

We spent a week of our honeymoon at Ann O'Callaghan's Gentian Cottage overlooking the Galway Bay and Aran Islands. We could have spent the entire week inside the cottage enjoying the beautiful views and reading on the cheery sun porch. But Gentian is so perfectly located close to the music of Doolin and Lisdovarna, the Cliffs of Moher, the Burren, the Aran Islands, and Galway that one week is not enough. My wife especially enjoyed walking the country roads with the walking stick provided in the cottage. Ann graciously gave us a tour of the family castle next door and build us a peat fire in the cozy living room. We felt completely at home and can't wait to return.

What a wonderful vacation. There were three couples and we were very comfortable in Gentian Cottage. We enjoyed the spaciousness of it - never felt crowded with six adults. Breathtaking views from every window. Saw many vivid rainbows. Sun didn't set until 10. Cows were a nice touch!!! Ann was lovely - made us feel welcome. Enjoyed the castle tour along with its resident white horse - Neat seeing Betsy on a mountaintop while driving to the cottage- worth the short trip.

The most perfect trip to Doolin

  • 5 of 5

We spent a week at the O'Callaghan's Gentian Cottage in Doolin this July and it was perfect. We come to Ireland every summer and usually rent a cottage for part of our stay. Both the Gentian Cottage and its location made this summer’s stay the absolute best. We picked it because it was close to Doolin (Irish music !!) and very near to Lahinch (our favorite course in Ireland).

The kitchen is a very easy space to work in, fully equipped and with a table to enjoy meals at, the adjacent sunroom was nice for reading and enjoying the spectacular views. At night we often ate in and built a peat fire in the sitting area. All three bedrooms had great beds, and private bathrooms, plus an additional bathroom on the first floor.

Ann O'Callaghan was a wonderful hostess with a great personality, she even provided breakfast supplies as we arrived (eggs, milk, butter, soda bread, and orange juice). Do not miss her offer to provide a private tour of Ballinalacken Castle which is close to the cottage and dates to the 14th century.

This stay was perfect and I can’t recommend Gentian Cottage any more highly !!

Cottage with the comforts of home

  • 5 of 5

We couldn't have asked for a more comfortable cottage to call home for a week. It was an easy drive to many of the villages, the Burren and the Cliffs. We enjoyed the fireplace on a rainy, windy Monday and took walks up the winding roads when the sun was shining. The cows are perfect neighbors! Thanks Ann for the castle tour and your hospitality throughout the week.
