Great view and family place
The wide porch with the view was the family gathering place and great for bear watching. The kitchen was well appointed, plenty of pots, pans and utensils. The upstairs loft was nice as a resting place and you were still able to be part of the conversations. We had a great trip!
Loved the cabin and the view from the back deck.
This was my very first time visiting Gatlinburg and just WOW the cabin was amazing , and Bert was awesome very attentive and communication was awesome. Definetely will be back.
Perfect for our family!
My family of 6, plus our babysitter, absolutely loved this cabin! Having the option for the kids to be “in a yard” in the mountains was so great, too. The views at Heaven Bound were breathtaking, especially when we saw 2 rainbows! My kids, even my 1 yr old, enjoyed hollering at the tram every time it passed by, but aside from the yelling from my kids, it was super quiet and did not interrupt anything about the view or peacefulness.
During our week there, we also saw a mama bear and 4 cubs who were trash hunting, so be sure to lock up the trash and your vehicle doors. I was surprised how well they tolerated us being so close (the mama bear was near the trash bins at the end of the driveway, we were on the porch!), so definitely be on the lookout!
In terms of the cabin, like the other reviewers said, it was a well stocked kitchen! My only recommendation for kitchen items would be more storage containers and some plastic (read as: kid friendly) bowls. The cabin could also definitely use another actual bathtub. Our son didn’t complain too much about the shower, but we had to crash our babysitter’s space (basement was perfect for her!) just to be able to bathe our girls easily. A bathroom modification upstairs would be the only bathroom where an expansion could happen without too much problems. That would be on my to-do list for sure if I stayed there regularly.
Bert was super helpful when it came to checkin, and his cleaner was nice enough to come to the cabin to get some baby gates and the pack and play out of the locked storage for us. Having those items there were huge for us since we didn’t have to pack them in our already very full van. In terms of toddler safety, the only recommendation I’d make is that some sort of swinging gates (similar to what’s on the porch) be mounted on all stair entries. That way they can be fully open for those families who don’t want to be bothered by gates, but they would offer peace of mind for those families with young kids.
Overall, Heaven abound was the PERFECT cabin for us. We LOVED sitting on the huge deck just soaking in the views and the mountain air. And the proximity to the park was amazing (10 mins)! We also spent one afternoon at Ober Gatlinburg, which was 3 minutes away. We had so much fun and will definitely return when we visit Gatlinburg again!
Ober Gatlinburg Ski Lodge is located approx. 1/2 mile from the cabin. Try one of their challenging slopes or learn from one of the their friendly instructors. Ober Gatlinburg also has an indoor ice skating rink, snowboarding, snow tubing, bob sled, black bear habitat, video arcade, restaurants, lounge and much more. Take a round trip ride on the aerial tramway to downtown Gatlinburg.
About Bert Baker
Tammy and I grew up in Mississsippi, we moved to Charlotte in 2006. We have always gone to Gatlinburg for New Years. We hoped that one day we could spend more time in the mountains and when we moved to Charlotte we started thinking about a place in Gatlinburg.
Bert Baker purchased this Chalet in 2013
Why Bert Baker chose Chalet Village
In early January of 2013, we were checking out from our New Years stay and ran into the owner. We struck up a conversation, she was so nice. She mentioned that they may sell it one day. We had admired this house for over 15 years, great veiws, 5 bedrooms, two lots, easy parking, and a great location. So...... we made an offer on the place. We are so glad we did.
What makes this Chalet unique
The views from this house are amazing, easy parking for 5+ cars, great location
