About Bert Baker

Tammy and I grew up in Mississsippi, we moved to Charlotte in 2006. We have always gone to Gatlinburg for New Years. We hoped that one day we could spend more time in the mountains and when we moved to Charlotte we started thinking about a place in Gatlinburg.

Bert Baker purchased this chalet in 2013

Why Bert Baker chose Gatlinburg

In early January of 2013, we were checking out from our New Years stay and ran into the owner. We struck up a conversation, she was so nice. She mentioned that they may sell it one day. We had admired this house for over 15 years, great veiws, 5 bedrooms, two lots, easy parking, and a great location. So...... we made an offer on the place. We are so glad we did.

What makes this chalet unique

The views from this house are amazing, easy parking for 5+ cars, great location

Guestbook comments from the owner

I took my family for our Hollidays and wish we could have stayed.

We didn't want to go home.

My kids had a wonderful time at the ski lodge and playing at all the arcades in town. We had the best steak ever downtown and saw all the fireworks and parade for the New Years.

We loved it so much we are coming back in a few weeks. There is nothing like having coffe on the decks watching the skies over the mountains.

My wife and I celebrated our family 50th Anniversary Celebration the week of November 20-26th 2016. Much time was spent just picking the right Chalet for our family to gather. Our children and grandchildren came from Missouri and Tennessee to honor us. When we saw The 'HEAVEN BOUND" PROPERTY WAS JUST PERFECT. It had three stories of living space. Two wrap around spacious decks. It even had a usable back yard. We took all our family pictures in the yard space. Also had a wonderful Hot Tub. When we saw the property we stopped looking.

"HEAVEN BOUND" had the most wonderful view off the top balcony that looked down on the city of Gatlinberg- Looked like a fairy land at night. We especially enjoyed the Tram which goes up to the top of the mountain from downtown Gatlinberg. We spent much time sitting on the deck chairs waving to our friends on the tram.

There were 5 bedrooms and three baths. We have a grandson who loves video games. We brought our PS3 and hooked it up in the lower level television. Both of our gransons spent many hours enjoying the video games-p They had total privacy in the lower level which had a fireplace with gas logs, seating area, and a full regulation billiard table. That was where I spent much of my time!

We were hoping to see a black bear transverse the back yard but did not see any during our dtay. We did however see a bobcat walking across the back yard- Got lots of pictures of him.

We loved that "Heaven Bound" was fully stocked with supplies. (ie dishes, cooking pots and pans) that we needed. We couldn't believe that the Chalet even had a clothing dryer and washer. The large windows looking out on Gatlin were absolutely beautiful with wood carvings of wild life. In fact there were wonderful carvings of black bears in front of the Chalet. The electric range had a full sized oven

We will be back! One of the greatest surprises was the close relationship with Bert and Tammy Baker, the Chalet owners Days before our trip we had a million questions. Bert was so gracious answer our questions. I felt like we were part of his family. That closeness with the owners took any fear and anxiety from our spirit since we have never rented a chalet before. What a great experience we had. I am so grateful that The Heaven Bound Chalet was spared in the horrible wild fire that blew through Gatlinberg. "Heaven Bound" was wonderful source for creating memories

Great View!

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed in several cabins throughout Galtinburg and Pigeon Forge over the years and Heaven Bound ranks near the top! The view overlooking Galtinburg was priceless! And though the house itself felt a little smaller than I initially thought, it served well for 10 of us, 3 generations of our family. There were plenty of amenities in the house and though the cabin has its own quirks, you can tell the owners have thought of everything that will help make the cabin feel like home during your stay. The owner(s) were very responsive and ensured you felt comfortable reaching out to them if there were any issues or questions. Overall a wonderful weekend with family and a great cabin!!!

An outstanding cabin with beautiful balcony views

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was spacious, well-stocked, and clean. Furthermore, the woodworking and craftsmanship were amazing.

While we all enjoyed the cabin itself, we spent a lot of time sitting on the balconies, enjoying the views (mountains, downtown Gatlinburg, and the Ober Ski Resort Tram passing overhead).

Thank you so much for sharing your home with us and making our vacation experience so enjoyable . We hope to return soon!

Because of the cabin's location, it is one of the first places on the mountain to have the snow cleared off of the road by the snow plow.
