About the host
Hosted by Beth
I grew up on a farm in Northern Michigan, but have been fortunate to have opportunities to go to graduate school in Connecticut, live and work in London, England and New York City. I love the energy and character of massive cities as much as the open fields, beaches and trails of the country.
In addition to pouring my heart and soul into our own AirBnB, in my professional life, I am a researcher for the automotive industry. I enjoy learning about how people use products and services and how to improve upon them. I call myself the CEO of our cottage "Chief Experience Officer".
I love running, yoga, hiking, spending time with my co-host/husband, our three kiddos, eating all sorts of food and drinking craft beer.

Why they chose this property
The location cannot be beat! Nestled in a quaint neighborhood, but between the most popular beaches and the adorable downtown area of Holland. No need to sacrifice privacy though. This estate is away from the busy Ottawa Beach Road traffic. Your kiddos can bike around the neighborhood, and you can easily get to the beaches or the many restaurants and boutique shopping of downtown Holland. Also, there is a year round market just four miles away. This property is also behind the fair grounds so you can use the skate park, or walk the property. A lovely coffee shop called, Kin, is nearby as is Itty Bitty bar. Don't let the dive bar look fool you. The food is some of the best this side of Grand Rapids! You can also walk in less than five minutes to Lake Macatawa which has less waves and is great for SUP, kayaks or other small watercraft. The barely used access point is just a few houses away.
What makes this property unique
This grand estate sits atop a small hill and the property is covered in gorgeous old beech trees. You will be in a neighborhood, but feel the privacy of the large property. Sit on the back screened in porch and watch the deer walk through the yard, or put up a hammock and enjoy the birdsong. The large backyard patio is also lovely for bonfires, or large family al fresco dinners. It is super easy to have meals out there using the Weber grill or simply walking out the kitchen which overlooks the backyard. The kitchen has everything you need to prepare a fabulous meal (minus the food). We have a fully stocked kitchen with pans, silverware, glass and plastic ware, dishes, toaster, coffee pots, kettles, and most recently added per one demanding guest - three ways to mash your potatoes. :-) We aim to please. We personally stay in our homes before we open them to guests to ensure all the comforts we enjoy will be there for you. This home has three living spaces (a large TV and sofas in the basement adjacent the game room which has a pool table and foosball), a more formal living room and a den with a large fireplace and down-filled furniture. There is one full bath and one half bath on the main floor, plus one queen bedroom. There is also a twin bed in the spacious laundry room after many guests asked for a bed in that room. On the second floor there are another two full - very large bathrooms and four more bedrooms. Come spread out and find your own space inside and out of this lovely estate.
