About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms + Den, 2.5 Baths, (Sleeps 8 - 10)

A little slice of heaven - where you can clean out your cluttered mind. Amazing ocean views from every room.

Are you seeking a lasting coastal memory? Windwhistle lends itself to families and couples looking for a get-away. It's an ideal retreat for your reunion, book club, hiking club, gourmet cooking group.

An open beach lies between the bookends of Haystack Rock & Hug point and stretches for miles in either direction. Relax on an extra large southern facing deck for private sunbathing, playing games, or having breakfast in the sun. Play Bocci or badmitton in the large backyard with a forested buffer, have evening bonfires on the beach right in front of the house. Body surf, and jump the waves.

Close enough to walk to Cannon Beach (about 1 1/2 miles) to enjoy all the amenities (live theater, fully stocked grocery stores, a great fresh seafood store, wonderful gourmet restaurants, lots of coffee shops)and yet far enough away to enjoy the peace off the touristy beaten path. It's at the end of a dead end lane and has a grassy front & backyards.

There are 2 extra large 2nd floor ocean view bedrooms each with 1 double & 2 single beds. The main floor master has a queen bed and a master bath with an old fachioned soaking tub in addition to a seperate shower with a seat and a huge mirrored counter with 2 sinks.

The kitchen dining space has a wonderful antique harvest table that seats 8-10 and a kitchen bar that seats 3. There is a well stocked pantry with cooking/baking staples including an extensive spice/herb drawer. All the basics you need to create your own gourmet meal.

A cozy den off the kitchen has a 40 inch flat screen TV (cable connected) & a DVD player. There is also WIFI & high speed internet.

The views are unparalleled, stretching from Haystack Rock to the north and Hug Point and Arch Cape to the south.

Family trip

  • 5 of 5

We spent a long weekend ON the beach. We had the whole family, 7 adults and 3 pre/teens, and the home accommodated us very well. The kids loved the TV room, and the adults found ourselves in front of the fire, looking out at the ocean, much of the time. Stores and restaurants were very close, but the well stocked kitchen accommodated our multiple home made meals too. There was not a single thing that we had hoped was different.

All Round Terrific Location!

  • 4 of 5

Three generations spent Christmas 2016 at Windwhistle and had a great time. Not only is access to the beach and the view of the ocean and sunsets spectacular, but getting to the amenities of Cannon Beach is very quick and easy. The owners are lovely to work with and the house has a charming beach feel, while providing upgraded bathrooms and a well stocked kitchen. I would give it five stars but my husband and I found the master bed to be a little small. In Cannon Beach, The Lazy Susan Cafe is our favorite breakfast haunt and the cozy Sweet Basil at the N. end of town is our favorite wine and dinner place. Bistro also at the N.end had a brand new owner when we were there - we look forward to another visit to access our enthusiasm. Our family will hopefully get to go back to Windwhistle in the summer so that the younger members can fully enjoy the beach.

Location Location

  • 4 of 5

A late review, but wanted to say thank you to the owner for an easy arrangement and so great to work with. We can't say enough about the location! Right on the water on a beautiful stretch of beach. The beds were comfy and roomy, as were the baths. The kitchen was perfect for the many meals we prepared. There was plenty of towels, dishes, and supplies. Everything was clean and neat. We didn't miss having a television at all, as the TV den was much too small for 8 ladies. We enjoyed the beautiful view, watching the stormy weather from the expansive windows in the living room. With as many sleeping arrangements available, the only miss with either photos or discription, was the lack of comfyer and more seating in the livingroom. The photo of the living room was well cropped. We were there in the latter part of October and missed the late summer weather by one weekend. Thus, we stayed indoors more than not, talked, read, played games, and worked on projects, but there was not enough comfortable seating for 8. The kitchen table, raised on blocks, worried us when we needed to move it away from the windows to seat the 8 of us, and one needed to move the table because, when left away from the windows, it blocked the front door. I gave the rating 4 stars for the seating and the kitchen table. With better seating and stable table and chairs, this would be a perfect, charming, delightful 5+ stars!

The Magic of Windshistle

  • 5 of 5

We have been experiencing the magic of Windwhistle for over 25 years. Every summer we have a "girls gathering" for the women in our family. It began when our daughters were babies, and now the next generation of little ones are joining us as well. It is hard to imagine our history as a family without those 2 magical weeks - walks on the beach, coffee in front of the stone fireplace, naps, good books, laughter, and lingering conversations over dinner. Every year - come what may - we all do what it takes to make our way back to Windwhistle for yet another week of new memories and shared history.

The owners are wonderful to work with, and make you feel like you are part of the family.

We are already talking about our upcoming time there this year, and needless to say... We can't wait!!
