About this property
TAHOE LAKEFRONT + Walk to Tahoe City + Pier w/Buoys/Pool/Tennis/Pickleball
Our Tavern Shores townhome is perfect for families and gatherings. We have set it up for the sole purpose of having fun and relaxation.
Enjoy views of Lake Tahoe during your days, walk to some great restaurants at night, and when you wake up to go skiing the snow will be removed for you. Right in the heart of Tahoe City, this 4 bedroom, 2.5 bathroom Lakefront Townhouse is located in the Tavern Shores Development on the West Shore of Lake Tahoe! You can walk out the back sliding glass doors of this home, cross the lawn, then slip into Lake Tahoe, or view it from the pier. The large lawn is a great place for your kids to play games and sports year-round, while you enjoy a drink on the back porch and watch the alpenglow on the mountains across the lake.
It is within easy walking distance of all shops and restaurants in Tahoe City. Tesla Supercharging Station is also a 5 minute walk away across the street from Safeway.
Truckee River Raft trips begin across the street. There are some great bike trails that go along the Truckee River, and West Shore. Tahoe Rim Trail access is across the street for mountain biking or hiking. One of our favorite hikes is a small trail that goes along the south side of the Truckee River (good for fishing too). All summer water toys (kayaks, canoes, paddle boards, etc.) can be rented at the public beach in Tahoe City (less than 10 minutes walk) and paddled back to our pier. Palisades Tahoe (Alpine Meadows and Squaw Valley) Ski Resorts are a short 10-15 minute drive from the townhouse. Homewood Ski Area is less than 10 minutes away. Tahoe City Transit Center is within walking distance and you can pick up free local shuttles to nearby towns and Palisades Tahoe.
You can play tennis or pickleball on one of the courts and swim in the heated swimming pool during the summer. Your kids can ride their scooters and bikes on paved trails throughout the development or play games on the huge lawn. Your whole family will love hanging out at the private beach and pier, swimming, playing volleyball on the sand court next to the water or catching crawdads from the end of the pier. In the winter, step out of the back of the house and enjoy snow play or cross country skiing.
This is a fully furnished 2 story town home (there are 4 town homes in our pod) that has great mountain/lake views from the living room, master bedroom, and guest bedroom. It has 4 bedrooms, and two and a half baths, fully equipped kitchen, dining room (big dining table with room for everyone), living room with gas fireplace, wooden upper level balcony, and back patio. The kitchen and all bathrooms are modern. The kitchen has Caesarstone counters and stainless steel appliances. The kitchen, living room and dining room are opened to one another, allowing a large space for gathering. A half bath is also downstairs. All 4 bedrooms and laundry room are upstairs. Two bedrooms face Lake Tahoe - the master bedroom has a California king sized bed, and the guest bedroom has a queen bed. Of the other two bedrooms, one bedroom has another queen bed while the 4th bedroom has 4 built in bunk beds. The house sleeps 10 people in all. Your rental will be inclusive of all bed linens and towels. There is a gas barbecue on the back patio, as well as a table and chairs for your outdoor dining pleasure amid the backdrop of the alpenglow at sunset. There is a flat screen smart TV in the living room and another flat screen TV with Roku streaming in the master bedroom. High capacity washing and drying machines are available for your use. There is plenty of parking steps from the townhouse. Guests are not allowed to bring pets (homeowners association rule). During boating season, you can tie your motorboat to the buoy, and can come and go from the pier with help from the pier attendant. The HOA will charge renters a mooring fee and we can help you reserve a buoy beforehand. There is a local phone line and high speed cable internet WIFI throughout the house. Cell phones with all major carriers work well.
Dining: There are numerous restaurants and coffee houses within easy walking distance of the house, including: River Grill & Bridgetender (both about a 3 minute walk), Jakes on the Lake, Tahoe House Bakery, Rosie's, Wolfdale’s, Sand Bar, Christy Hill, Sylva and more.

This was a great place to stay! Great location and clean! We didn’t use all the beach chairs, pickleball equipment, and board games—but it’s got that kind of gear for your family stay! Can’t beat the pier—we spent most of our time out there. It’s truly as pictured!
I grew up going to Tavern Shores and have such incredible memories. We wanted to share this experience with our kids and their friends. It was just an incredible vacation. So much for the kids to do. The place is lovely. Perfect for teens. The house was an absolutely perfect setting. We loved it and will definitely be back!
Super well stocked kitchen and house! Clean and accommodating with gorgeous views of the lake. Communication was great. Very central location. Would recommend staying here and would come back!
Nice unit. Terrific property. Very convenient to village. Responsive management. Beautiful lake with plenty of play area outside. We enjoyed our time. Would definitely return !
We greatly enjoyed our stay. The home was clean, spacious and had everything I needed. The view of the lake was beautiful and the grounds cared for. We liked to sit on the pier and take in the beauty of Lake Tahoe!
We had the pleasure of staying at Tavern Shores this summer and Jane’s place is absolutely perfect. The townhouse is nicely updated, has lots of room for family groups and the location is unbeatable. We will definitely be staying here again next summer. 5-stars.
We had an awesome three nights at the house, super clean and well equipped with kitchen supplies. Its location is super convenient right next to a pier. Kids enjoyed the beach volleyball court and the easy access to the beach. Overall everyone had a great time.
The home was just what we wanted for our Family Thanksgiving this year. It was truly walking distance from town, even with the snow from the weekend before, an easy walk.
The house was roomy & equipped with all the amenities that we would want. From the kitchen to the big screen TV to the board games!
We will definitely want to come back here again!
Our stay was absolutely perfect. This home is so special!! The design of the main floor is so well thought out for gathering with friends and family. The space is open and the views from the kitchen to the lake are superb.
We all loved this home and would return often.
5 stars all around! We will definitely be back. The home is stocked with everything you could want for a vacation to Lake Tahoe, and the view is amazing. The home is in a perfect location, you can walk to the shops and dining in Tahoe City. One of the best VRBO homes we have ever rented. Check in/out was easy, and communication was wonderful. Thanks Jane, for a wonderful stay!
We really enjoyed our stay. Jane was easy to deal with, allowed early check-in and check-out which was nice. Nicely furnished and comfortable place, loved the pier and the pickleball courts. Location was wonderful with access to bike trails and close to stores. Only downside was a lack of storage, especially in the kitchen.
Through the years, eight or more of my family members have gathered somewhere in the North Tahoe area for a reunion week of fun and adventure. Currently we are ages 14 and up. We have stayed in multiple different locations including Tahoe Donner, Dollar Point, Tahoe City and Incline among other places. Out of the numerous places we have rented, we all agreed this was the best on multiple levels.
When booking, we were a bit skeptical there would be enough room for the nine people in our party this to spread out, but the layout and efficiency of the townhome easily fulfilled our needs. Plus there was plenty of WiFi bandwidth to support multiple people taking summer school classes and working online. Not only was the townhome comfortable, it was quiet, well maintained and well appointed. From a well stocked kitchen to nice linens to beach towels, outdoor equipment and board games, we were not left wanting.
Best of all was the facility and location. Every morning we would awaken to our view of the sun rising over the lake from across a park-like common area. It was an easy walk across the grass to stroll along the private pier or to access the lake itself. We were able to have paddle boards delivered for the week by Tahoe Paddleboard and then take them out whenever we wanted. We also rented some kayaks for a day from a rental facility a short paddle distance away from our pier. In the afternoon we could enjoy the heated pool and then barbecue on the patio. To cap it off we would watch the distant hills across the lake light up from our living room as the sun went down.
It is hard to believe the serenity of the unit given it is only a stones throw away from the intersection of 89 and 23. Being so close to downtown Tahoe City definitely has its advantages. We could easily walk to the store or to restaurants in the downtown area. We could also easily walk 15 minutes south on 89 to Tahoe House Bakery & Gourmet, a fantastic bakery with an amazing assortment of freshly baked croissants and other goodies.
Most other places we have stayed required hopping in a car to do anything outside of being in our rented cabin or walking around an isolated neighborhood. it was definitely worth paying a little more to create so many different walkable options for different people at a moment’s notice. We will definitely stay here again. I’m not sure we would want to stay anywhere else now.

Tom - Thank you for your review and sharing the same reasons why we LOVE our place so much - the abundance of activities, the prime location without needing a car, the comfort & practical setup of our home, and, of course, the VIEW OF THE LAKE & MOUNTAINS. We are so glad to have been able to share all of this with your family. Please come back soon! - Best, Jane
TLDR: This vacation rental is everything you want and more so jump on it.
The listing images, location and reviews ultimately led me to book this rental for our family end-of-summer trip. We were a group of adults, teens and little kids and so access to activities and space to get away from each other were top of the list priorities. Right away, the communication from Jane was so thorough and thoughtful, I felt confident in making our 10+ hour drive to Lake Tahoe. Getting into the rental was a breeze and it was pleasant and clean, waiting for our arrival. The house is so comfortable! Both in it's layout and ample beds/bedrooms but also in how well appointed it was. The hosts really thought of everything a person would need during their stay - from the fully stocked kitchen to the ample towels and linens, the games and even rafting tubes! The home sits just across a lush lawn from the lake with private dock access and across the street from the Truckee river access. Walking to the grocery store, restaurants, and cafes is quick and easy and with parking next to the unit, loading in and out is a breeze. Don't hesitate and you won't be disappointed, promise.
Tahoe city is a perfect location for a family to enjoy outdoor activities. The lawn between the property and the pier is awesome for playing bocci ball or just hanging out. There is a pickle ball court within 200 yards of the back patio. We loved our stay. We had to wait a bit to check in because it was a busy time of year and the house cleaners were backed up, but otherwise it was awesome for our family.
Place was great and location was great! 15ft of snow and being stuck in the house was not! It was roomy enough for all of us and we had a great Christmas!
The accomodations were great but a fair amount of road noise from road construction on the street side of the home.
Perhaps this is only temporary.
Otherwise all was good.
Thank you

Wonderful family home to enjoy the ski slopes and explore Lake Tahoe!
We stayed for 8 nights over Christmas and New Year. Only 10 minutes drive from Squaw Valley. The facilities of Tahoe City are all within an easy walk, plus there are loads of other things to keep the kids entertained such as sledding and tree adventures. I highly recommend this as a base for any family or group of friends to visit the Tahoe area!! Couldn't have been better!

Wonderful family vacation home
The home was perfectly set up for a family. The bathrooms were newly remodeled and spacious. The bedrooms were very comfortable and the kitchen had everything we needed to cook great meals. Also the location of the property is spectacular. Great views of the lake, an easy walk to rent kayaks and paddle boards, and into town. We also were just a few minutes from some beautiful hikes. All in all a great vacation home!
