House was ok but did feel a lack of privacy
Great house minus no AC. We did feel a lack of privacy with property manager and owner literally 10-15ft. Away staying in the house next door. Even though they didn’t bother us, it just felt like we had to tip toe around.
This property was nice, quiet and clean. We enjoyed our stay in Taos and at the property. We would rent it again.
We had a really nice time. The house is beautiful and very quiet.
Perfect getaway for couples or families!
Unfortunately we were traveling during COVID, so the town was shut down. However, it was just what we needed as a family! Friendly and informative owner, property manager on site to answer any questions, and the people in town were welcoming and friendly. We we just a drive away for many awesome day excursions and were terribly sad when our stay was over. Pictures do NOT do this home justice!! Thank you for a more than memorable experience!
Thank you for your comments. I will try to take better photos!
I'm sorry it was such a troublesome time when you came but I'm glad there was the upside. Please come again when our world is in a better place.
The house was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed for our family of four. We would love to stay there again on our next trip to Taos!
Two Hour Drive from Albuquerque Airport, 15 Min. from Taos) The ski valley for winter fun is 25 minutes away (Taos Ski Valley) and there are others in the area. The house is a nice base in the summer for people who want to hike, raft, walk, enjoy Taos Pueblo or excellent small museums and great restaurants.

About Sally Ooms
After a career as a print journalist, I wrote a non-fiction book at the casita on the property I now call home. The book is called Finding Home: How Americans Prevail. A native of Kansas City, I have lived in New Mexico for almost 25 years. I moved briefly to San Francisco in 2011, and then to the California Delta 2013, after an extensive book tour. I owned and ran an art gallery and store in Isleton, CA, for four years. Now, when my husband, dog and I are not at 30A Valerio Rd. North in Taos, we are traveling the country in our retro Winnebago Brave. At home and during travels, I am working on a novel, and sketching and painting the countryside we pass through.
Sally Ooms purchased this House in 2003
Why Sally Ooms chose El Prado
The mountains and quality of light found in and around Taos have become part of my soul. I love the organic feel of an adobe house. Plus I am a sucker for a view. That's why I chose my particular viewing spot. The sunrises and sunsets always delight. Watching the moon rise from the portal is magic.
