PERFECTION!!!!!!

  • 5 of 5

This was our very first visit to Maine and it was simply outstanding. We were traveling with myself, my husband and our two sons (9 and 12 years old). The house was simply perfect, the boys had their privacy upstairs, the location was amazing and the view was exceptional!!! We loved just having morning coffee on the rocks and letting the boys explore the rocks.

We loved the location of the house because it was "off the beaten path" it was about a 45 minute easy drive to Bar Harbor and you enjoy the less congestion and more "true" Maine environment.

We hiked in Acadia, did the horse drawn carriage ride, whale watching tour, visited Quoddy Head, ME, relaxed at the house, went to antique stores. You have to go to Schoodic Point, it was amazing.

We always like to try local restaurant on vacation and we found some wonderful spots, our favorites were: Fisherman's Galley (casual but wonderful food, we went here a few times), The Pickled Wrinkle (Bar type food, but might have been our favorite place) Bunker's Wharf was wonderful too!!!!

You won't regret renting this house, it has everything you might need, quite and relaxing location, and easy to find. Sally was a peach to work with, everything was extremely smooth and easy.

Owner's Response: Thanks very much for your feedback. The area can truly be a wondrous adventure and I'm so glad your family was able to experience it. Schoodic is indeed spectacular, especially if you go there during a storm. The Pickled Wrinkle is relatively new, just been around a couple years, and they have become one of my favorites as well. You can usually see whales from the land at Quoddy Head, I hope you saw them too. We hope to see you again in the future.

Lovely home with a dramatic view!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful week in this home at Prospect Harbor! The interior was very comfortable and we especially enjoyed the picture windows that allowed us to get views of the water at all times. There was also a library of useful information that helped us plan our hiking, sightseeing, shopping, and eating in Acadia and vicinity. Owners were always responsive and generous in this hospitality. There is nothing that we would want or do differently! Lisa

Perfect Maine Stay- again and again!

  • 5 of 5

This was our third summer staying in this lovely, peaceful house - and we will likely be back for summer number four! The first summer we came with our immediate family (two adults and two young children), and the second and third we shared the home and Maine with our parents.

The home is always clean and ready for our arrival. We were again greeted by a bottle of wine and a delicious loaf of friendship bread. The home is decorated to reflect the surrounding nature, and each year we arrive to updates to the home and decor.

We spent hours climbing on the rocks and watching soaring eagles. The sunrises and sunsets are stunning from the rocks and the perfect background for morning coffee or evening wine. This year we took advantage of the outside sitting area and built a fire for s'mores.

The home is close to Schoodic for adventures and an easy, scenic drive to Bar Harbor and Acadia. We absolutely love this home, and it has helped us create cherished family memories! I can't think of a better place to enjoy Maine!

Unbelievable! Superlative; a perfect solution to our dream vacation in Maine. Located in an area surrounded by secluded harbor towns with NO traffic lights! One hour by car to travel to Bar Harbor and Acadia. The view from the house of the cove at sunrise, the ocean at dusk...and stars in the sky at night are breathtaking. The house is off the road and surrounded by mature trees at the edge of the typical rocky coast. The interior decorations, layout are as described and you feel you are "down East". The housekeeping is immaculate, clean and fresh . The decor is detailed with appointments, are picture perfect and yet homey...yet like visiting family. The welcome with wine and the friendship bread was a pleasant surprise. Hanging out, relaxing in the Adirondack chairs, sipping wine...and having time to converse or just read a book...lounge in the hammock and nap...all with a breeze and scent of salty air! Thankful to be away from it all. The desktop photo on my computer now is the photo of the ocean and rocky shore from the house! Views for everywhere are keepers. And what is a vacation without special food adventures? At the house, the kitchen featured CuisinArt, cast iron and a gigantic lobster pot and is well stocked, great for steamed lobster dinners in; or for that occasional special romantic evening dining in. We found lobster available fresh off the boats in the harbor at reduced prices only found in Maine. We had our Boxer/Lab dog along and enjoyed local restaurants for breakfast on occasion, lunches on the wharf, and dinners on the patio...pet friendly as well. The location provides opportunities to play tourist at Acadia and Bar Harbor, or just enjoy watching the activity of the lobster boats in the harbors, a visit to U.S. Bell...for a dinner bell or quilt? How about lunch on the wharf at Corea Harbor? The locals are friendly and very helpful. Sally is a superb hostess; we travel often and she is outstanding in her professional yet personal manner in providing responsive, timely support and recommendations. We plan to return...the greatest complement we can offer. Thank you for the perfect, memorable vacation location.

Best Maine Vacation Spot

  • 5 of 5

This was like a home away from home with your own private coastline. You could easily stay at the house all week and wake up to the water lapping on the rocks and relax all day long or you could explore the Maine Coast Line. The house made you feel like you were in an Architectural Digest photo shoot with a quaint kitchen, spacious dining and living areas with vaulted ceilings, views of the water from the deck, and relaxing private bedroom locations for quiet time. For anyone that does not like stairs, this house has a comfortable main level bedroom and full bath. We all had fun walking on the rocks and being mesmerized by the water and sunrise views.

The Coast Line offers State Parks with all levels of hiking and beautiful views; small unexpected eateries off the beaten path in addition to well know excellent faire locations; galleries, "rock farms", antique stores and other unique Maine finds. The Owners have a fantastic Welcome Book, Local Guide Books, and Maps near the Foyer for you to use during your stay. The fun part is also finding new locations too. The drive to Schoodic Peninsula, Bar Harbor, and Acadia National Park are all quick and easy to access. Bar Harbor is the largest town which offers Lighthouse Tours on a Boat, fantastic views, and a lot of shops & restuarants. Acadia had trails for all levels of hikers and educational areas for children. Schoodic Point is not to be missed for the views, sunrises, and sunsets.

We stayed for one week, but we really would like to make it two weeks on our next trip to Maine. Since we found the perfect house and location, we would rent the same house again and definitely recommend it to all our friends.

The Perfect Vacation

  • 5 of 5

Wow!! If you are trying to decide on a place to stay in Maine, look no further. The house was impeccable and the view - STUNNING. Everything was perfect. The details and thoughtfulness were unbelievable. I felt like I was visiting an old friend who put every thought into our visit. We have two teens and a nine year old. It was perfect for our family. It was so private and every time were in the back on the hammock, in the adirondack chairs or on the rocks by the ocean, we were in absolute awe that that was our backyard for the week. The breeze and the scents of pine and sea are fantastic. I completed reading books that I started a year ago, and even got to read one from the owner's extensive library. We were able to RELAX and let the real world disappear for a while. The town and people were amazing. You have to go eat at J.M. Gerrish for breakfast and visit the 5 and 10 store across the street. Take the ferry over to Bar Harbor for the ride alone. The town is also so fun to just walk around, or sit on their grassy hill and watch the boats go in and out of the harbor. Acadia Park and Schoodic are gorgeous. Waking up for the sunrise is worth it, and watching the sun set every night was part of our day. The Farmer's Market every Tuesday is fun and the antique shops are fun to stroll through as well. You also have to go see the cottages in Winter Harbor. We really hated to leave. This was a perfect family vacation!
