Overview

About the property

2 bedrooms, loft, 1 full bathroom, 1 half bathroom, sleeps 6

This lovely home we call Stonehaven is serene, secluded, scenic, sunny, spacious and situated on a one acre wooded lot - only steps away from the shoreline. As you walk in, you will be greeted by the spectacular ocean view. On the first floor there is a master bedroom with a king size bed and a petite / private room with a twin bed.

Walk into the living area and there is a cathedral ceiling with windows from top to bottom and a futon that comfortably sleeps one. Go upstairs to the spacious loft with two twin beds, one with a pull out twin bed. There’s plenty of room to sit and watch a movie. During high tide, look out to the ocean and you will feel as if you are on a cruise liner…. without the sway of course.

Discover the beauty of Maine in this quiet community!

Acadia National Park's Schoodic Point offers hiking/biking trails, kayaking, and magnificent scenery; quaint villages, shops, studio galleries, restaurants, yacht club, golf course, and working lobster harbors, whale watching, cruises and lobster & clam bakes; all along quiet byways of the Peninsula. Home to the world-renowned Schoodic Arts Festival, International Sculpture Symposium, and Hammond Hall performing arts center. There’s even a ferry to Bar Harbor (when you are there please say Bah Hahbah otherwise people will think you’re from the South) if you feel you must leave the peace of Schoodic.

Find out about the festivals, farmer's markets and community activities at the Schoodic Chamber of Commerce. Visit their website.

We recommend you go to the Schoodic Acadia Magic website and move the cursor over an area, click and you will be led to a site that explains that area in detail. It’s a great site to learn and discover all there is to do on the peninsula.

Lovely Cottage on the Bay

  • 5 of 5

My family of five visited Maine for the first time and it was made special with this cottage on the Bay. The cottage had a great location and all of the amenities needed to steam lobsters. I had a great time with the family and would come back to this cottage if I visit Maine again.

Tranquil spot with amazing views in beautiful home

  • 5 of 5

We loved "Stonehaven". In fact, the only negative thing I can write is that we wished we had time for a longer stay. The location on the Schoodic Peninsula is tranquil but close to lovely hikes and bike trails in Acadia NP. The house is in immaculate condition with comfortable beds and common areas. We were two couples and a baby and the layout (with a mezzanine bedroom and two bedrooms downstairs) was perfect. The kitchen is well stocked with pots and pans and basic grocery items. The views are second to none and we very much enjoyed sitting on the rocks near the fire pit enjoying a glass of wine in the evening. Communication with host, Tom, was very easy and his suggestions excellent. Highly recommended - we would stay again without hesitation.

Little oasis by the sea - Fantastic location, clean, relaxing and comfortable

  • 5 of 5

We’ve been coming to Downeast for many years and this is by far the best rental we’ve encountered --- it’s really close to the shore, very clean, private and has all the amenities if you are inclined to cook your meals. Tom wasn’t kidding when he said the property is only steps from the shore --- during high tide the views from the porch are dramatic and from the inside you have the feeling you are on a cruise ship. Tom was quick to answer all of our questions and provided detailed information on the area. The house is only 10 minutes away from the Visitor’s Center for Schoodic Peninsula --- part of Acadia National Park. We plan to return in the fall and highly recommend this property. Great location and fantastic value!

Marvelous place!

  • 5 of 5

This house is so quiet, so peaceful, so filled with light, and very, very comfortable. The owner couldn't have been nicer; he was a pleasure to deal with. Definitely want to go back -- and spend longer next time.

A great return trip to Schoodic

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I have vacationed in this area of the Schoodic peninsula multiple times as this is our favorite place on earth! This is the 3rd home we have rented and agreed that the view and location was the best yet. Every morning was spent either on the deck or in the living room drinking coffee and watching the amazing sunrises and in the evenings , we savored the last lingering light of day while we anticipated when we would see the light at Petit Manan lighthouse first begin to flash. Not enough can be said about how relaxing and restoring this piece of heaven is.

The home is open and light, clean and well supplied with all your needs. We prepared alot of our own meals just so that we didn't have to leave each day! Tom provided us with the most complete info that we have ever received in advance to prepare us for our stay . As we were familiar with the area, we did not require it as much, but to a first time visitor to Maine or Schoodic , it would be invaluable. We especially enjoyed the guide to pronounciations! Having lived in the mid coast area of Maine ( moved from the midwest), we could have used that when we first arrived!

We hope to return again and highly recommend this property. Thanks Tom and Anna

Quite, relaxing getaway

  • 5 of 5

If you’re looking for a quiet, relaxing Maine getaway I would highly recommend Stonehaven. The place was exactly as expected and well-maintained. The property sits right on the ocean, so close that you can fall asleep to the waves crashing against the rocks and wake up to the lobster boats checking their traps. It’s only a few miles away to the Schoodic Point portion of Acadia where you can enjoy the same picturesque views in Acadia while avoiding the crowds that flock to Mt. Desert Island and Bar Harbor. If you are not too picky, there is a 9 hole golf course about 10 minutes away (Grindstone) that we played twice and had the place to ourselves on both days. There are about 150 people selling lobsters in a 3 mile radius and there is a large lobsterpot in the garage that makes cooking easy. The Pickled Wrinkle is a great option for dinner out. We also had a nice breakfast at J.M. Gerrish and would recommend that as well! Enjoy!
