About the property

4 Bedrooms, 3 Bathrooms, Private Home

Please note the home directly to the West of Cardinal Sanctuary was recently completed and there will be some landscape work this spring/summer. It is possible during daytime hours that you may hear some of this activity.

Picture-perfect views of Lone Peak, forest, and creek, and close proximity to the Mountain Village and base area, make this stunning haven in the pines the perfect starting point any time of year for all your Big Sky adventures. Located in a serene wooded setting with a mountain stream tumbling down, you may even catch a glimpse of a friendly fox or resident moose, or perhaps the occasional bear. Well-suited for families, groups of friends/colleagues, or up to 4 vacationing couples, this 3,000 sq. foot custom built log home provides plenty of space to gather, or spread out, in style. Combining rustic elegance with modern amenities, no detail has been overlooked. There's even an indoor sauna to melt the stress away. On the beautiful decks outside, take it all in from the porch swing; go for a starlit soak in the hot tub; or just kick back and catch up around the fire pit. Let the good times roll! Minutes from Lone Mountain, and only 45 scenic miles from West Yellowstone, Cardinal Sanctuary is your home away from home for Montana-made memories and fun.

Beautifully Serene

  • 5 of 5

This home is centrally located between the Big Sky ski slopes and Yellowstone National Park. It can be used for family reunions (sleeps 14) or small weddings on the balcony overlooking the mountain. We were there for spring break and witnessed the first few days of spring and an beautiful snow fall which made the skiers happy. At night we went into Big Sky for some wonderful meals and finished up in the huge covered hot tub looking out on the starry sky. The home's large glass windows look out on the mountain and a small stream where you can often see moose. It has every amenity that you could want including an outdoor gas grill and fire pit. We highly recommend this property and will definitely return.

Beautiful cabin~Wonderful time

  • 5 of 5

We were super happy with this beautiful home. The house was perfectly set up for a group of most any size. We had 10 in our party and had teenage children and younger ones as well. All were very happy with the house and had plenty of room. They really enjoyed the pool table and hot tub. The bedrooms were nicely decorated and spacious. We loved the deck and the view. We enjoyed a day of zip lining and whitewater rafting both within minutes of the cabin. 3 other days we made the trip to Yellowstone to take in all of the parks beauty as well. On our last day we were pleasantly surprised to wake up to moose in the front yard next to the beaver pond. We would love a return visit some day.

A little slice of heaven

  • 4 of 5

We were seeking a place which could accomodate a large family and also had a beautiful view. We found it here. In fact, no one wanted to leave. The cabin had everything we needed for our stay. We awoke every morning with a spectacular view of the mountains. We were able to see some wildlife but, the kids wished there were more. Of course, there were some things that need to be fixed and hopefully these will get addressed but this is to be expected. I would not recommend this cabin for anyone with a disability or who requires assistance to walk. The cabin sits down off of the street which requires one to go down multiple stairs to reach the entrance. Unfortunately, we did feel misinformed regarding what was offered along with our stay. We were informed that we would reciece a free entrance to Yellowstone unfortunately, once we got there we were informed that they stopped doing this in the Spring. If you are looking for a place to relax with your family and have breathtaking scenery this place is for you.

Owner's Response: Dear Family Vacation, It is a pleasure to hear that you found the cabin to be such a great fit for your group and we agree that is a lovely spot in the summer. The views are spectacular and we too often see wildlife around the home. I'm sure your comments about accessibility will be appreciated by others and we too would never suggest this property for someone with a physical disability because of the short flight of stairs down to the house. These are great questions to ask when booking a vacation home! We have already ordered the part for the downstairs tub handle that was difficult to turn and I'm sure you found our maintenance team's prompt response helpful during your stay. I am very sorry you felt misinformed about the Yellowstone Park Pass. We certainly would have still honored this $35 value if you qualified for the special...even if we weren't including on new bookings because of better offers. As we explained, the reason for not honoring the park pass special was because you only booked for 5 nights and the park pass special was only offered on bookings of 7 nights or more. We are glad you were able to take advantage of our FREE cleaning offer which was a value of $395. Again, many thanks for staying with us and hope you will consider Big Sky Vacation Rentals for any future visits. Best, Kirsten King, Owner

Perfect in every way!

  • 5 of 5

This property has it all! Stunning views of Lone Mountain, a meadow, and a beaver pond from both the upper and lower decks. A porch swing, barbecue, outdoor gas fire pit for making s'mores, hot tub, and sauna. The bedrooms are nicely decorated and the beds super comfortable. The bathrooms spacious with beautiful tile work. The house and property have several different areas to play games or visit so you can gather all together or find a place to just be by yourself for a bit if you want to. Plenty of TV's if you just can't resist your favorite show, but we didn't watch any when we were there because there is so much else to do. The kitchen is well supplied for cooking up your favorite meal if you want to eat in. Too warm for us to have one, but there is also indoor fireplaces with all the needed supplies to have a lovely fire inside when it is chilly.

We took advantage of several of the local hikes, as well as white water rafting and zip lining. The wildflowers were blooming everywhere, and so many streams and rivers are in the area to enjoy.

It was an easy 50 minute drive to Yellowstone-we went two different days and saw most of the park. Bozeman is also not far, and we want to visit some of the cute small towns in the area when we visit next time.

Wonderful Family Experience!!

  • 5 of 5

What a beautiful place!! We couldn't have asked for a better 'fit' for our vacation needs... this cabin truly has it all: beautiful kitchen, 2 fireplaces, 2-story deck, sauna, hot tub, pool table, dart board, board games, and a GREAT mountain view!! It is a very short drive (probably 2 min.) to Big Sky Resort. The kitchen is even stocked with some necessities! The kitchen/dining/living room were all open - which is perfect for a large group gathering & meal sharing. We wanted to take our little guys sledding... which there is not a real spot for at the resort... BUT all we had to do was walk out our front door. The cabin is built into the side of a hill/mountain, so we were able to sled right at the cabin. There is also a groomed trail a little ways down the road, that apparently takes you to the mountain for skiing. We had 9 people staying - could easily have accommodated 4-5 more people. There is a loft upstairs with a queen size bed & futon (not a lot of privacy). On the main level there is a master bedroom (w/ king size bed) & it's own bathroom. There is also a 2nd bedroom with a queen size bed & a main bath. Downstairs, there is a bedroom with a queen size bed & a 2nd bedroom with 2 sets of bunk beds & there is a separate bathroom (with sauna). WONDERFUL experience - would definitely do it again!!
