About this property

The Swift Bear Base-INN - Big Sky Resort - Easy Ski Access!

Welcome to The Swift Bear Base-INN!

This 4-bedroom + bunk room, 3.5-bathroom custom built log home sits on Cascade Ridge overlooking all of Big Sky Resort. Surrounded by rich forest terrain, this home offers easy ski access during the Winter months; the home is also hike in/out & mountain bike in/out. The home boasts in-floor radiant heat, two separate living rooms, an air hockey table, bar area, private hot tub, and large deck overlooking Big Sky Resort. The home is under a mile from the world-famous Beehive Basin trailhead, this is the ultimate mountain home base for your Big Sky adventure. Enjoy staying in a true Montana mountain home under the Big Sky!

In Winter, find yourself nestled into a true Winter wonderland. The legendary Big Sky Resort is just a stones throw away from the home. Big Sky Resort or, "The American Alps," grants you access to some the BIGGEST skiing in North America. The home grants you easy ski access to the main base at Big Sky. Easily catch the groomed residential ski route to make your way to the main base, this route is weather permitting and may not be the best for beginners or young children. Additionally, drive 2-miuntes to park at the free skier lot at either the main Big Sky base or the Madison base area. For the Nordic skiers, the world-famous Lone Mountain Ranch is just an 5-mile drive from the home. Find yourself exploring a what seems to be endless wonderland of groomed Nordic trails and snowshoeing. Other close by Winter adventures include snowmobile tours, sleigh-ride dinners, snow-coach tours of Yellowstone National Park, guided ski tours in Yellowstone, dog-sledding tours, and more!

Ski In/Out Information- Access is weather permitting, the groomed residential trail is maintained by Big Sky Resort. Additionally, please note Big Sky Resort has 6000+ acres of skiable terrain. Using the ski in/out access trails from this home can take you 20-30 minutes to get to and from the main base area. We recommend this ski access for a more experienced skier. Young children and beginners may struggle.

Ski Out- We recommend walking to the bottom of the driveway then catching the groomed trail there. The groomed trail starts at the end of the driveway across the road. This groomed trail will lead you to the White Otter Lift. From White Otter you will partially ski down the Lower Morning Star run, then make your way to the Big Sky base area.

Ski In- Find your way to the Cascade Lift (residential access lift). You will need to side step or skate ski a short distance uphill to get onto the Cascade lift. Once off the Cascade lift you will need to walk up a set of stairs to get back onto the groomed trail. You will make your way down trail (B) to get back to the house. This trail is best for skiers, snowboarders will need to keep up their speed.

In Summer, escape from the hustle and bustle to truly escape from it all. This home boasts an impressive landscape. Adventure the impressive explorable terrain to include nature landscaping surrounding the home, an expansive deck overlooking the wooded forest with Lone Peak towering above granting amazing views to be seen from the home, and a private hot tub. Great House
Our group really enjoyed the house (intermediate to expert skiers). The house is beautiful, spacious, spotless, and has an amazing view of the summit. Communication with the property manager was easy. Everything worked in the house as advertised and expected. The hot tub was fantastic, but note that it took the entire first night to heat up. Would be nice if the management had the tub heated upon arrival. The mud room and garage were convenient and there is a boot warmer/dryer in the garage also places for boards and skis. The bedrooms are fair sizes and a really nice master bath with heated floors. Ski out is possible but skiing back in can be tricky. I would not recommend it for snowboarders. There is a groomed traverse path in front of the house. However it was very thin snow for us. With proper snowfall the ski out could be much easier. We found the best option was an easy drive to Maddison Base where parking was much easier. Overall had a great time and would stay again.

Big Sky Family Vacation
Overall the house was very comfortable. For a summer stay the house location is next to a very busy road with endless construction traffic and therefore the house was noisy. Since windows needed to be open in the morning and evening to enjoy cool air the traffic noise was unavoidable as the house does not have air conditioning.

Great Vacation
We were so fortunate to have found this wonderful place in Big Sky for our family vacation!! It is a great house and we (4 adults and 2 teenagers) were so comfortable there. Everything was so clean and the whole house was very well equipped with all we needed. I highly recommend The Swift Bear. You will not be disappointed.

Mostly great stay.
The property is beautiful and easy to access. Big shortfall was the expectation that it was ski in/out. It definitely isn't and consumed a big chunk of our first day there. It requires a great deal of traversing and some had to take their skis off at points. It's only a short distance to either lodge by car, but it should not be advertised as ski in and out. In addition the gas fireplace in the main living room did not work. The management company responded to our calls but told us it needed to be replaced at the end of the season and couldn't be repaired. The kitchen is well appointed but there is no space for any food items, we had to use the laundry room as a pantry. Overall the house is very nice and we loved the radiant heated floors. We would rent it again with managed expectations
