Overview

About the property

Cabin, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4)

Gorgeous, cozy little cabin overlooking majestic Lake Superior. 80 foot cliff offers a very rare view of the lake. Fire pit on the edge of the cliff makes for magical evenings and gorgeous views of the moon rising and the sunrise (don't forget your own firewood)! The screened in porch is a perfect spot for breakfast, lunch, dinner or just relaxing with a good book. The private outdoor shower with a view of the lake provides a unique experience you won't soon forget (and yes there is an indoor shower as well)!! There are 4 bicycles available for you to enjoy. An easy and fun 3 mile ride into town or the 1.5 mile ride to the beach at Grants Point. As you can see this small cabin's decor is warm and charming. The big soft leather couch makes for a great place to take that afternoon nap with a view of the lake right at your feet. Inside the cabin is a quaint little propane fireplace to remove the chill of a cool evening. There is one queen size bed and a comfy trundle bed which makes into two singles or a full when pushed together. It is a well maintained and well loved little cabin. Perfect for romantic getaways, small families, two couple retreats or small gathering of friends.

Nestled in the forest there is routinely deer in the yard, bald eagles soaring overhead and families of ducks swimming by. The glider on the cliff makes for a great place to meet for that morning cup of coffee!

Please note - to help with meal planning - this cabin does not have an oven. There is a microwave, stove, coffee pot, toaster, under counter refrigerator and of course a charcoal grill! Kitchen is well stocked with utensils, cutlery, pots and pans and dishware.

Why Tracy Swirk chose La Pointe

While traveling north from Kansas City one summer to escape the heat we were fortunate to happen upon the magic of Madeline Island. With no intention of buying a vacation home we fell in love with the island and were lucky to have found this charming cabin. In our opinion it's the center of the universe!!

Perfect little getaway to unplug and recharge!

  • 5 of 5

Wow! Our expectations were far surpassed with this beautiful little cabin. We thought we’d be a week late for the fall colors but the view did not disappoint no matter what direction you looked. Waking up to catch the sunrise on the cliff was so peaceful (and beautiful). Even with a cold, rainy Saturday we were able to spend the day exploring the Fall Festival in La Pointe and Big Bay State Park. It was wonderful to come “home” to a warm fireplace to cozy up to.

We like to take weekend getaways around our anniversary to different spots in MN or WI. This is definitely at the top of our lists! We hope to visit again soon!

Thank you Brian and Tracy!

Better than we dreamed of.....

  • 5 of 5

This cabin was like magic to us. We walked in and it was warm and cozy. We had everything we needed and didn't have to pack any of it. Woke up at 5 a.m. and build a fire and watched the sun come up......was a beautiful memory.

Thank you again for allowing us to stay at your piece of heaven.

Thoughtfully-appointed and well-cared-for cabin

  • 5 of 5

I spent five nights at Blue Diamond in mid-October. The lovely weather and gorgeous fall colors were a matter of good luck and good timing, but the comfort and beauty of the cabin can only be attributed to the care and attention of its owners. Thoughtful touches like plenty of indoor, screened-porch and outdoor seating, lots of small lamps and a well-equipped kitchen complement good quality fixtures like the hardwood floor and the cheerful, efficient, Franklin stove-like heater. The views of the lake, the rising sun and the night-time sky are magnificent.

Would go back again

We had a wonderful time. The place was what we wanted for a relaxing time on the Island. The view overlooking the lake was spectacular. We were able to watch a couple of sunrises. Beautiful......We had a few days with rain and the cottage was a perfect place to hang out.

A perfect vacation spot

  • 5 of 5

My top ten favorite things about our Blue Diamond vacation:

1.) Sunrise breakfasts overlooking Lake Superior, bald eagles included.

2.) The night sky filled with more stars than I could imagine. I could see the Milky Way.

3.) The fire pit. Burgers and corn cooked over an open fire are beyond yummy.

4.) New Glarus Raspberry Tart beer.

5.) Wildlife. We saw deer and turkeys and bald eagles and king fishers and common mergansers. And thought we heard loons.

6.) The cabin. We had everything we needed to cook and eat and sleep and relax. We especially loved the Bose speaker for blasting Amazon music from our phones. Okay, it was blasting for senior citizens, but music serenaded us every night by the fire.

7.) Madeline Island Museum. A great little museum that explores the history of the island. The current display, "The Women of Madeline Island" was especially interesting.

8.) Big Bay State Park. We hiked and climbed on rocks and thoroughly enjoyed our time there.

9.) Mussels in cream sauce from The Pub. No need to say anything more.

10) Tom's Burned Down Café. Full of friendly locals, friendlier dogs, good beer and the most unique people on the Island.

Ten reasons does not capture the wonder of the Blue Diamond cabin and Madeline Island. You should experience it yourself. Just be sure to leave a week for me.

Quiet weekend away from the city

  • 5 of 5

The cabin had all the amenities needed for the weekend packed into a mighty little parcel. We didn't want for anything and loved the outdoor fire pit and indoor gas fireplace in the evenings. It provided a relaxing base from which to explore the rest of this lovely island and oh yes, what a view! (Especially at daybreak with a cup of coffee!).
