You will think you’re in Italy! This beautiful Mediterranean-style waterfront home and guesthouse with gorgeous 180-degree water views offer you a tranquil retreat on the Kitsap Peninsula -- only one hour from Seattle but a world away from noise and stress. We are located ten minutes from the Kingston-Edmonds ferry on Gamble Bay, near Hood Canal and Port Gamble, just 20 minutes from Poulsbo.
Relax on the large front lawn and watch the eagles and osprey soaring overhead. Listen for the cry of the blue heron, admire the deer that wander through the yard, watch the fish leaping in the bay. The house sits on 1 3/4 acres and is very private and quiet - the houses on either side can't be seen. It overlooks a sheltered inlet on Puget Sound that is great for beachcombing, swimming, and kayaking. Walk down the stairs to explore our private beach and gather your own clams and oysters for dinner. A gas grill and a picnic table make outdoor dining easy. Later you can watch the sun set on the bay and use the firepit to make s’mores. At night, go outside and wonder at the stars – far more than you’ll ever see in the city. Watch a DVD on our 32' flatscreen, read a book by the fire, or listen to music from our CD collection.
Built in 1949 by a master craftsman, the house is completely modernized but retains its original charm with lovely hardwood floors, beautiful architectural lines and exquisite stone masonry. The fully-equipped kitchen includes a range, microwave, refrigerator, dishwasher, two waffle irons and fine culinary tools (I love to cook!) The master bedroom has a king bed, a private bath with walk-in shower, and French doors that open onto a sunny terazzo terrace. Carpeted stairs lead to a mezzanine which has a king bed and double bed in two rooms with a shared closet. There are floor length blinds for privacy. A full bath with bathtub is at the foot of the stairs. The living room features a vaulted ceiling which gives an open feeling, and has a sofa that makes into a queen bed. Two dining room tables easily seat 12. Curl up with a good book in the sunny corner window. Play one of our many board games. Or just be still and appreciate the amazing silence. The charming guesthouse has a queen bed, a sofa that makes into a queen bed, and a private bath with shower, making it a perfect separate space for members of your group.
There are lovely walks and hikes right from our front door. A large grocery store is six minutes away. Twenty minutes brings you to the charming Scandinavian town of Poulsbo, forty minutes to historic Port Townsend with its antique galleries and fabulous restaurants, and seventy minutes to Port Angeles where you will find quick ferry access to Victoria, Canada, plus incredible mountain scenery at Hurricane Ridge in the Olympic National Forest. Nearby Bainbridge Island offers excellent golf, restaurants, galleries, and cultural events year-round. A notebook with extensive recommendations for day trips, events, local restaurants and fun excursions is on the table when you arrive.
This is a perfect place for a quiet retreat, a family gathering, or a romantic second honeymoon. Our level entry and master bedroom/bath with walk in shower on the ground floor make it very accessible. Summers are truly beautiful here and last well into October. Puget Sound winters are generally mild (although somewhat damp) but the misty days are perfect for catching up on your reading or finally writing that novel.
Come experience the most relaxing getaway you have ever had. You will feel the calm energy as soon as you arrive.

About Cathy Ross
I'm a northwest native, a retired school administrator, and now an educational consultant. My husband and I live mainly in Seattle, but escape to our Kingston waterfront home whenever we can. We hope you love it as much as we do!
Cathy Ross purchased this House in 1993
Why Cathy Ross chose Kingston
It is peaceful and beautiful, yet it's only an hour away from Seattle - one ferry ride puts you in another world.
What makes this House unique
We love just sitting and looking at the view, gathering oysters on the beach, watching the deer wander through the yard, and toasting marshmallows by the fire. Plus, it's a perfect base for visiting other fun places in the area, such as Poulsbo, Port Townsend, and Sequim - even Victoria, Canada is easy to get to by way of Port Angeles.

We reserved this house for three days to put us close to a wedding in Port Gamble. 5 adults and 2 small children had more than enough room. The large yard worked perfectly for the young kids to run around barefoot. We made the climb down to the beach at low tide and harvested a dinner of oysters one night. Quite an adventure! Fortunately, the weather was perfect for the three days. Easy to find, as long as you follow Cathy's instructions! Very conveniently located to an Albertson's grocery store and coffee shops. We will definite try this again!!
Thanks Jim - glad you all had a good time! Hope to see you and your family again next year!
This was a fabulous place for our family to gather. In total, 6 adults and 6 children had a wonderful time. The house and guest house were very comfortable. We had everything we needed.
The front yard was a place for family games, soccer, races, bocce etc. Great space for the kids to run around.
Thank you for all the arrangements made for our arrival. We had a great time.
Cheaper than a hotel and WAY better
My family was traveling from out-of-state for a family wedding and decided to check out our options when the hotel prices seemed high. This was a GREAT match for us! It had needed cookware/dishes for famiyl style eating, the yard was shockingly beautiful (we saw a bald eagle), and allowed all of the different families to stay together creating more actual time together:) Especially nice after the kids were down and the adults could all still be centrally located. We would stay again if we returned to the area- THANKS!
Summer stay recommended
This home is spacious and homey but I would definitely not recommend a winter visit. The electricity went out on us during our stay and we were without heat the whole last day of our visit. We ended up going to a hotel, adding to expenses. The owner never followed up with us which was disappointing. We didn't like food left in refrigerator by former guests and personal items in drawers left by owners. The overall cleanliness was not up to standards.
We regret that the power went out the last day you were at our house. We did speak with you on the phone about the situation, which of course was beyond our control. It's true that late November can bring stormy weather and because of your experience we've decided to no longer rent our house in the winter months. We hope you will come again during our sunny season - March through October. -Cathy
Came here with four friends for a weekend away. Great place - amazing view, comfortable beds, nice bathrooms, and a well-equipped kitchen. We also enjoyed going to the nearby town of Poulsbo for shopping. Hope we all will be able to come back again next year!
Nice getaway home!
This cottage like home is in the perfect location for anyone wanting to get away from the city. We had a family reunion here and we all had a blast. The back yard view is just simply breath taking.
We caught oysters, clams and mussels on the bay down the stairway at the back of the home. We used the outdoor grill to charbroil the oysters and it was delicious. The kitchen was fully equipped with pots, pans, coffee machine, spices, dishes, dish washer etc etc. Also, the home was equipped with a washer and dryer, games for little ones and outdoor games such as volleyball and badminton. The guest house is small and cute w/ 1 bed and 1 pull out sofa, also has it's own bathroom and a small/narrow stand up shower.
We had a large group and this home was a bit small for us. There is only 1 private bedroom on the first floor in the main house. The upstairs has 2 beds separated by a small closet, which has an opening to the first floor. The wifi is very slow.
Overall, we had a great time making memories at this home.
Hi Traci - glad you and your family all had a great time - and how about those fresh oysters? Thanks for letting us know about the slow wi-fi - we contacted our carrier and they say they will fix it! -Cathy
We are close to Poulsbo, Winslow, Port Townsend, Sequim, and Port Angeles - all lovely small towns with many tourist attractions.
