Enjoy the summer breezes at this quaint cottage with views of Bogue Sound and close access to all the amenities the Crystal Coast has to offer.
Upon arriving, you'll notice the charm of this 3 BR, 2 BA home. As you proceed thru the front door, you will notice the generous living area with plenty of seating for everyone and your first view of the waterway with Palm Trees swaying in the breeze.
Heading down the hallway, you first arrive at a bedroom which will remind you of cruise ships and days gone by. Hop on the full size bed and just relax. On your left is a full bathroom. Going a little further down the hall, you pass another bedroom on your right with a comfy Queen size bed. It has a fresh airy feel, with crisp sheeting. On your left is a full service laundry area. Continuing directly down the hall and your last stop is the Master Retreat with a King Sized Bed and a Super-Sized shower with Dual Shower Heads. Let me also mention that linens and a generous amount of towels are included with each rental.
Returning back to the Living Room and to your left is the Kitchen with all the items you will need to make your stay comfortable. As you peer over the bar, you see another view of the canal.
Continue heading through the kitchen you come out on the Carolina room which has accommodations for another 2 guests and a couch to read that novel you've been waiting to get to. A great place for the kids to hang out as well.
Coming around the sun porch you head back into the Dining Area where you'll notice the Dining Room Table that is made of reclaimed wood.
As you proceed outside, the porch invites you for morning coffee or a late afternoon cocktail. An outdoor sofa and chairs will let you enjoy the warmth of the sunshine. A nice grassy yard allows the kids to play while the adults kick back and relax.
A trip down the stairs and towards the dock, you land on a paver patio and have a view of the sound that will cause you to immediately relax. Drop a fishing line, cast net or crab pot in the water and you just might have something for dinner.
You also have the option of dropping your boat in the water a few miles away at a nearby marina and your ready to take off for a day of fishing or boating. Plenty of sand bars encompass the area and with Shackelford Banks and Cape Lookout nearby you'll have plenty to do. Bring the boat back to the deep water dock (canal 4' deep) and you can unload all the goodies you've found throughout the day.
Whether a large family or small, you'll enjoy kicking back and relaxing at this home that feels just like yours.

I purchased this home as my job took me away from the coast. I frequently visit the home, but had many requests from friends and family to rent the cottage. I'm an avid boater and enjoy anything about the water and sand.
Lynette Schehr purchased this house in 2004
I selected this home as my vacation home because of it's location both on and off the water. With easy access to Morehead City, Atlantic Beach & Beaufort, I can enjoy all the charm those towns have to offer. On the water, there is easy access to either Bogue or Beaufort Inlet for some offshore fishing and the easy access to Shackleford Banks and Cape Lookout when I want to relax. It's the best of both worlds.
Most certainly you will enjoy the comforts of home, but my favorite part is the paved patio area down near the dock. We enjoy the views of the sound and breezes coming up the canal and waving to boaters passing by. A very friendly community.
This home was a delight for our three generation family gathering. The beds are comfortable, the kitchen well equipped, and coffee on the porch overlooking the canal and dock was a delight! It is in a quiet neighborhood with many birds, including an owl and an egret. The one story floorplan worked easily for our elderly mother who uses a cane and wheelchair.
I was mistaken in thinking the Carolina room is a screen porch. This is the room with two twin beds. I was happy to find it was a fully air conditioned sunroom room off the kitchen.
The dock is very high above the water, over 3 feet even at high tide. We were able to get in and out of our kayak and hobie cat just to the side of the boat lift by a beam that runs closer to the water. The children delighted in swimming from a locked boat ramp within about half a block.
The canal runs into the sound and the intercoastal waterway. We had delightful hours sailing and kayaking both.
We were easily able to body surf in the Atlantic at Fort Macon State Park swimming beach with life guards. We climbed two of three light houses in a day trip to the Cape Hatterras National Seashore. We took the free ferry to lunch at Oriental, the sailing capitol of North Carolina.
The home is also close to Morehead City for convenient shopping. One member of our family works at the cherry point marine base so was able to commute to work and still be together with us at night. It made a great getaway for his family even though just a few miles from home!
Lynette is very responsive, attentive and a good host even though we only met remotely. She provided suggestions and answered all of our questions.
What a great place for relaxing after working at Cherry Point all week. Very little traffic to deal with and close to everything you need. The surroundings are very secure as its nice and secluded off the main road. The outside grill was perfect and made some of the best steaks ever! Relaxing on the back dock and looking out at the water couldn't have been better. My family and I will definitely be booking here again!!
Fantastic location. Sit on the patio and sip a drink while you watch the boats go by, toss a fishing line into the canal, visit Historic Beaufort, Eat in world-class seafood restaurants, or book an inshore of offshore fishing charter with numerous guides out of Atlantic Beach.
The home is comfortable, spacious, nicely furnished, clean and very convenient to shopping, but tucked away in a QUIET waterfront neighborhood. One of the best we've stayed in. Thanks, Lynette.
We enjoyed our stay in Morehead City. Lynette's home is spacious and comfortable. The kitchen had every amenity imaginable. She was easy to reach with questions. The location is perfect in that it is close to everything, but extremely private and quietly tucked away. We spent many hours relaxing on the porch with an amazing view of the sound. The beds were comfortable, and the master bathroom was an amazing bonus! We took advantage of the games she provided and hosted local friends for dinner a couple of nights. Plenty of room and a nice lay out to entertain.
We are typically island vacationers...staying between Emerald Isle and Pine Knoll Shores...summer vacation came too fast this year and we started looking on the main land.. and we found a JEWEL! Most of the time I worry when we book somewhere..will my kid (all boy and 12 years old now) break something, mess something up..all with no harm meant or I worry, will the rental be 'stuffy'.. or too 'fancy' for our liking.... When we pulled up I was taken back at just how close we were to the canal.. and just the feeling of 'being in the neighborhood'... But the real pleasure came when we walked in.. wow.. I was home....From the front door it just felt like being at home. I can honestly say I have not had a vacation since 2010 where I lost track of the days.. but by Friday..I was having to check my phone to remind me of what day it was. I had everything at my finger tips that I needed to just relax, enjoy and be away. I had more than enough accessories to fix meals and enjoy our catches of the day.. all while my son ran himself ragged at the dock casting for bait or crabs.. He would fish all day with his dad on the open waters off of Morehead City and then come home and fish for hours on the dock..I had no worries because I could sit and watch from the comforts of the house or the back porch.. Just an amazing trip. The house had so much room...and was so beautifully decorated....but not to the point of 'don't touch.. don't use'...
We have asked about booking two other trips..and we will probably see about getting our name on the list for next summer - two weeks next time...
The neighborhood is also the best too, the neighbors were all so pleasant - waves in passing and smiles - never any loud 'vacationing' surroundings.
The house was beautiful and the owners communication and care was excellent! This was a perfect port for out swing-keel sailboat.
We were able to spend a month at this great house, it had everything we wanted while trying to decide if we want to move the area. The owner was so accommodating and even offered to help us find a place on the canal if we wanted too.
The house was just steps away from the dock so it was easy to load up the fishing gear and head out to the inter coastal waterway. Couldn't ask for any more from a house and we felt very comfortable from the day we arrived.
We are planning to return this fall when hopefully the fishing will be better. We highly recommend this place for the as long as you can stay.
