With Tennessee to the North and West and Georgia to the South, Cherokee County, NC is the westernmost county in the State of North Carolina. Surrounded by the Cherokee National Forest and the Nantahala National Forest, Murphy remains a popular Summer and Autumn vacation destination. Located at the intersection of four US Highways and three rivers, the county seat of Murphy continues to have all the charm of a small Southern town. Because a large amount of land within the area is part of the National Forest or held in trust by the US Government for the Eastern Band of the Cherokee Indian Nation, the unspoiled wildnerness surrounds you wherever you go. Murphy and the surrounding communities offer a wide variety of relaxing nature-oriented activities along with popular attractions for the whole family to enjoy and all within driving distances.

Get away from the heat in the summer and enjoy the outdoors. In the Summer, the temperature ranges from highs in the 80's to low's in the 60's. Go whitewater rafting or zip-lining on the Nantahala River or the Ocoee River. Take a day-trip and drive along the Cherholah Skyway at altitudes in excess of 5000 feet with numerous trail heads, picnic areas, and the beautiful Tellico Falls at the western end.

Tour a winery, go shopping for antiques, or enjoy Downtown Murphy with its quaint shops and terrific restaurants. Take a walk on the Riverwalk along the Hiwassee River. On the first Friday of every month from May to October, local artists and artisans display their works for sale along Valley River Avenue in Downtown Murphy. Weekends offer various flea markets and farmer's market. And, yes, we do have a golf course located in the Upper Peachtree area. You can also enjoy boating, fishing*, and swimming in local lakes.

Leaf changing season usually begins in mid-October with the peak occurring around the first week of November. Early autumn temperatures range from highs in the 60's and lows in the 40's with late Autumn temperatures ranging from highs in the 50's and lows in the 30's. Our average yearly snowfall is only between four and six inches, with the first snowfall usually occurring in late December.

Moose Hollow is also located about one-hour away from Helen, GA and Blue Ridge, GA. We are one and one-half hours away from the south entrance to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

This lovely cabin provides all the comforts and conveniences of home with the beauty of being up in the mountains. Whether you are planning an active-fun filled vacation or just quiet relaxation time, everything you need is here in the wonderful mountains of North Carolina.

This cabin is located just east of Murphy off US Highway 19/74 East. It's about a 3 mile drive up easy winding roads to a private secluded area on one acre of wooded land on Shady Creek Ridge in the Upper Peachtree area. This is a luxury cabin tastefully decorated and fully furnished with all the comforts of home. The cabin is one story, 2 bedrooms (linens provided), 2 full baths (towels provided), full kitchen (all you need to bring are your groceries and paper products), gas log fireplace, washer and dryer, 2 TVs with satellite, VCR/DVD, stereo/CD player, phone (local calls only), ceiling fans, central heat and air conditioning, and large fully covered porch with rocking chairs to enjoy the view and relax while planning your activities.

Loved this cabin!!!

  • 5 of 5

This is the perfect place if you are looking to get getaway from the world. I loved that this cabin was somewhat isolated but still close enough to town for quick trips to the store. The cabin is nestled amongst tall trees and an abundance of foliage. The neighbors are quiet and have a sweet old dog that came to sit with me on the porch while I enjoyed my coffee most days. The cabin is beautifully decorated, very clean and had absolutely everything we needed for our stay. I had no issues navigating the driveway as some have mentioned. I vacation here yearly to visit with my family who live in the area and I have yet to find a cabin that didn’t have a rocky, steep driveway. Thankfully, this property has asphalt that starts just a short distance up the drive and stops just as you reach the cabin. I especially appreciated this the day that it rained. Rick was very courteous and helpful when I had to contact him about an issue that arose just as we were leaving on our trip. He is very attentive to his renters. Hands down, this is my favorite vacation rental ever! I look forward to renting from you again next year. Thank you so very much for a blissful stay :-)

Cozy & Comfortable

  • 4 of 5

Moose Hollow is a cozy and comfortable cabin that is nicely decorated and well stocked. The kitchen has absolutely everything you need to prepare your own meals. This cabin is tucked away among the trees, which provides lots of privacy but not the mountain view we had hoped for. It was quiet and serene - a great place to just chill and enjoy our family.

There was a minor issue with the gas fireplace and a chirping smoke detector, but both were handled promptly by the caretaker.

All-in-all, a great place to call home while on vacation.
