About the property

Apartment, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4)

This exquisite apartment (4 guests, 2 bedrooms) is located on the 7th floor (US standard with elevator) in a typical Montmartre building. It is located “rue d’Orchampt”, one of the highest rated streets in Montmartre. “rue d’Orchampt” is a small and quiet street featuring many romantic artists studios. Close by lies the famous place du Bateau Lavoir. This is where many famous artists lived, PICASSO, MODIGLIANI, Albert CAMUS, Max JACOB.

The apartment was recently redesigned with love and taste by the owner. Her daughter lived there for more than 10 years and still live sin the neighborhood.

• Entering the apartment, one is overwhelmed by the light and the views over Paris roofs. It gives a home feeling right away, as if one were at the country side, thanks also to the

presence of this nice garden, full of greeneries. For this reason, the apartment is very calm.

• One enters in the living room. It has 2 windows. It is furnished with a sofa and a table that sits 4 guests. Decoration is subtile (paints, objects, furniture) and colors are carefully chosen.

• The kitchen is open space, fully equipped including dishwasher.

• The main bedroom offers a double bed which has direct view over Paris. It is equipped with a large closet and linked to the bathroom.

• The bathroom is decorated with small tiles. It is equipped with a bath with shower, and hides the washer dryer.

• The 2nd bedroom offers bunk beds. They are large enough to sleep adults. Once again the window offers view over Paris.

• Toilets are separate (but inside the apt).

As a bonus, Phone calls to land lines in France, and to US, Canada and Australia are generally free. It is also true for more than 50 countries. More over, calls to cell phones towards specific countries (often US & Canada) may also be free. Ask us for detail as it may vary with time and policies of operators.

SACRE COEUR church is 3 mn walking distance. Les abbesses, the trendy part of Montmartre is just down the square: many restaurants, shops and nice café terraces. The ABBESSES SUBWAY station is 2 mn walk. PIGALLES & BLANCHE stations are only 3 mn away. This location is a perfect base to visit Paris. It stays 15 mn by subway to most interesting Paris locations AND is a very charming & restful area to be appreciated after a whole day shopping and walking through museums...

Last point, we are staying 1 block away. We are here if you need help.

Why The Owner chose Paris Arr. 18 (Montmartre, Sacre Coeur)

The daughter of owners lived in that apt for 10 years. They decided to keep the apt and rent it short term to be able to use is from time to time.

Guestbook comments from the manager

The Orchampt apartment is a perfect place for either a business or holiday trip. I used the apartment with 2 colleagues during our exhibition at the Paris Air Show, Le Bourget. Although compact, this is a prime location, within 2 minutes walk of the main restaurant area of Monmartre and within about 3-4 minutes of the Sacré Coeur. Despite this close proximity the street is unbelievably quiet and this apartment offers respite from the fatigue that Paris can sometimes bring! Incidentally the views from the windows are splendid and you can see several miles over Paris. The kitchen is well equipped and the living room is a well decorated and comfortable place to relax. The free wi-fi was not something I expected and it made the stay even more appealing as it was just like being at home! The beds were clean, bright and extremely comfy. Even the freeview TV was a nice surprise, with plenty of channels to watch, or bring your own films and use the DVD player. I can recommend this place 100%.

Great Place in a Great Neighborhood

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed about a week and a half and were very pleased. Let me get the cons out of the way first. These things are very MINOR but, you should be aware:

- It's a 6 floor climb up to the apartment, there is a lift , but it's very small. Large luggage may not fit; luggage plus 2 people, no way.

- I'm a big man, 6'3" 215 lbs; trying to bathe in the tub was very difficult.

- If you come home at night the hallway lights are off. There is a switch as soon as you enter to turn them all on. Once you hit that switch get ready to move as the light is on a timer and will likely turn off before you make it to the apartment. There are switches on the other floors as well, but we didn't know that the 1st night.

- Montmartre is an amazing neighborhood, but it's on a hill. Lots of steps getting in and out of the metro, lot of walking up hills to get back to the place at the end of the day.

- Walking through Place Emilie Goudeau at night is a little intimidating at first, there were some groups of younger folks drinking and smashing bottles, but we never had any problems.

Let me reiterate the items mentioned above are VERY MINOR and should not deter you from renting from In Beau Paris, especially the Rue d'Orchampt property.

The Pros:

- Very Quaint and comfortable apartment. Well decorated and easily will meet all your needs. We only had 2 people, but it could easily sleep 4 and wouldn't feel too small. The building is secure and safe.

- Montmartre is a terrific neighborhood to stay in. Great restaurants, cafes, bakeries, pubs, shops, pharmacies; anything you need is within walking distance. There are 2 or 3 metro stops very close by. Sacre Couer is near and a great place to visit day & night. Rue des Abesses is the main street near the apartment and you can find anything to eat there, and it's all terrific. The neighborhood is quiet, yet entertaining. You really feel like a local there.

- In Beau Paris and Jean Noel do a terrific job of explaining the rental process, check in, and how the apartment works. If you read the instructions and follow the steps you should have no problems. If something comes up you can call or email and they are able to help right away.

I would definitely recommend this place. Should we be fortunate enough to make a return trip to Paris we would definitely look to stay here again.

Absolutely beautiful stay at Apartement D'Orchampt!

  • 5 of 5

My one week stay at Apartment D'Orchampt was WONDERFUL! The apartment was exactly as advertised and very pretty. The owner has a special gift for interior design... you will find the apartment very peaceful and beautiful, like out of a magazine. The location is PERFECT to walk to Sacre Couer, the metro, restaurants, and other sights around Montmartre. After walking those serious hills and steps around Montmartre, you will want to rest... the beds were quite comfortable and the water was always nice and hot! We loved the view from the windows every morning looking at Montmartre rooftops while drinking our morning tea. I loved having the full kitchen to be able to prepare meals when I wanted to take a break from eating delicious meals around town. It was so helpful to have the elevator/lift to get to the apartment but please note that it is small... if you have luggage only one person can go up at a time. I had some real challenges learning how to use the keys to get into the apartment at first, but quickly caught on. The security is very good and I felt safe. I would definitely stay at this property again.

Lovely apartment

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Orchampt for a week with our family. The apartment is lovely and beautifully laid out with plenty of room for a young family of four, not to mention nice rooftop views over Paris. There's a lot of attention to detail in the decor - it's not luxurious but it's comfortable and all done with great taste. The location is terrific too - a short walk from the shops, sites and cafes of Montmartre, as well as the Abbesses metro station; a great base for exploring Paris. The area seemed safe. Jean Noel's instructions were easy to follow. We had no problems. All in all, I would strongly recommend as a great way to experience Paris as a family. We would certainly like to return in the future.

Un apartement très charmant!!!

  • 5 of 5

Un bel petit apartement très charmant et près de Montmartre!

This cute and quaint apartment is only minutes from the artistic and scenic area of Montmartre. This was one of the reasons for us to choose this location. Our family stayed here and the set-up was perfect with bunks for the kids and all the usual amenities. Very clean and well supplied. Jean Noel was great to deal with and this capped our tour of France for our final four days. And of course the romantic sunsets out the living room windows...

An excellent week in Paris!!!

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Orchampt and I highly recommend it. For our week long Girl's Trip, this was an excellent choice. The neighborhood is charming and our immediate area had a strong local flavor. Both the Abbesses and Lamark metro stops are just a few minutes from the front door. The apartment is sweet and tidy and both this building and its surroundings are peaceful and safe. We never heard a peep from the neighbors. For 3 of us, this was a lovely space. With two separate bedrooms, we did not feel crowded. The powder room and bathroom are also separate, so we had privacy. I should also mention that at every point in our booking, we were well attended to. Questions were answered promptly. Payments and deposit reimbursements were processed quickly. Check in and check out were both simple and speedy. Instructions and directions were well thought out. InBeau and Jean Noel are extremely professional.

Great Location but this is a cautionary tale! The good, the bad and the ugly!

  • 3 of 5

If nothing else, make sure you read the last paragraph. This is a long but honest review.

There is an elevator which is a good thing! If you are claustrophobic beware. It is quite a climb but the view is certainly lovely.

The apt layout is caboose style. You enter directly to the living room and kitchen. The kitchen was sufficient but no microwave. Next room off LR is the double bedroom with bathroom. There is not a shower curtain and only a hand held spray in tub so you can’t really stand. The bathroom has no door for privacy. From here you enter into the second bedroom which had bunk.

The kitchen dishwasher worked great. We only used the washer/dryer combo once because the first time it was used, it took something like 5 hours to run and the directions are not the best. The clothes came out looking terrible. There were 4 of us who found the direction to most of the appliances/TV, etc. a little confusing and this is from technology savvy people. Even the phone was a challenge as it worked some of the time but not all the time. We had a hard time calling a taxi for the airport and also calling INBP office for help with the TV.

The apartment key pick-up and return situation was a little weird but we managed. The office is very close to the apartment and located in a cute square with a lovely restaurant. The area could not have been better, so many things to do close by and the Place du Tertre a 2-3-minute walk away which was very charming. Make sure you stop at Tutti Sensi for Gelato, it’s amazing! Be prepared to walk a LOT and also be prepared to walk uphill a LOT. The Sacre Coeur is beautiful and DO go inside, it is free to visitors and very beautiful and peaceful.

Be very careful with your purses ladies. I was pickpocketed twice. Not enough space to tell all but these pickpockets are very clever and sneaky; you will NOT feel it happening so be careful in the Place du Tertre.

One last thing, get good apartment insurance. I had my apartment keys in the wallet safely zipped in a compartment so they were stolen also! I was charged a very large number of Euros by management for a locksmith to come to replace all the locks. I was also charged an administration fee and also a % bank transfer fee even though they already had my security deposit so there was no need for a bank transfer fee in my opinion. Keep your keys safe! This made my vacation twice as expensive, no joke!

Owner's Response: Hi Mitzi, We understand it was a very frustrating experience. Unfortunately you were robbed twice outside of the apartment, which is out of anyone's control and certainly unpredictable. We do always recommend that guests purchase an insurance which unfortunately you decided not to subscribe to. We did our maximum to help and believe we were most efficient. The key and apt address, were both lost during the robbery that happened outside in Paris. No relation to the apartment. You called us as you were frightened that the robbers could burst in the apartment. For your security and that of the apartment, we agreed to organize the change of the lock. The locksmith we use is a great worker and is really not expensive. He charges 30% less than any other locksmith for whom you will find advertisement in mail box. You may confirm with your friends, the cost could have been much more. We managed to have the lock changed on the same day to avoid you the inconvenience of going in a hotel for the night. We also had to replace all keys with the owner and cleaning company. All this involves a lot of management and is very time consuming. We charged 30€ for this and provided you the locksmith invoice. Be aware that we did not charge the handling fees twice. They were simply charged once. As a side note European washers cycles are much longer than in the USA as they use much less water. We do understand it was a frustrating experience and we hope we helped you come over it the best we could. We believe we provided the best service possible in this difficult situation. Sincerely, JN
