A quaint and quiet coast for the peaceful wayfarer
Dodge the usual overcrowded destinations and sneak away to this quiet and quaint coastal town. Medulin's nestled in a little bay just outside the lively port town of Pula on Croatia's Istrian Peninsula. You'll get glimpses of the bay and the splendid surrounding islands from most Medulin vacation rentals—and many of them are also waterfront. This whole peninsula is pretty impressive and important in a prehistoric sense. They've actually found settlement remains from the Neolithic Period, around 6,000 BCE. There are well-preserved remains of the Roman Empire, including an amphitheater from the 1st century.
Pula's almost all ancient history
You'll really get steeped in history when you explore nearby Pula's ancient Roman ruins. There's Pula Arena, a Roman amphitheater built in the 1st century, and Fort Bourguignon, a stone fortress from the 1800s. The Temple of Augustus, some 2,000 years old, is also pretty neat. And then see the turtle sanctuary or the seahorse room at Pula Aquarium. Check out Bijeca Beach, Medulin's only sandy beach, and take a dip off the shores of Cape Kamenjak. Brijuni National Park is a tiny island right off the coast with some great hiking paths.
This shore's got outdoors you'll wanna explore
The beaches here, mostly pebble, are cozy and fun, with waterfront bars, tame seas, beach chairs, and umbrellas. Croatians love their outdoor activities, and when you take in the rugged but beautiful landscape and breathe the fresh air, you'll totally get it. There's boating, windsurfing, paintball, and camping, plus an adrenaline park with rope courses and ziplining. You can catch a concert or festival at the Forum, the main town square in Pula, with shops and restaurants. And enjoy some rakija, Croatia's popular fruit liqueur.
Pick your season, they're all pretty great
The temps are warm and the crowds are mimimal from May to June and September to October, so naturally those are the best times to book Medulin vacation rentals. On the other hand, if you're looking for busy beaches and lively crowds, summer's the hot time of year to visit. It'll get up in the low 80s and the seawater is in the mid-70s, which is pretty refreshing. If you prefer cool weather, winter temps are in the 40s. The rain is moderate and falls evenly throughout the year, with December just slightly wetter than other months.
Hold a camera and point anywhere—it's all picture-perfect
Northern Croatia is full of thick forests and karst (limestone) cliffs. It's all lovely, and even if you tried, you couldn't take a bad pic here. Medulin vacation rentals are on the Istrian peninsula in the Adriatic Sea, a quirky locale that belongs to 3 countries: Croatia, Slovenia, and Italy. Medulin's in a sheltered bay full of itty bitty islands. Most of the waters are calm, but there are some surf areas where you'll catch a few good waves. These waters are also teeming with marine life, including rare mussels. And you'll dolphinately see a dolphin or 2 swimming around.
