Dirty.

Dirty laundry left on washer, floors grimy, dusty, no dish cloths, no garbage bags, no change after I contacted owner. Yuck.

Disappointing

Pros: good location, lots of nice hot water, AC strong. Cons: Poor maintenance & shoddy installation of equipment (we plugged in a lamp which caused sparks & shorted out circuit; kitchen sink faucet very wobbly & handle kept coming off; most furniture poorly put together Ikea & rickety). Unit does not conform to photos (table & chairs different and MUCH more space displayed than is reality; seating less numerous & unstable; no carpet & other deco gone). 2nd shower odd - actually inside the bedroom with only a meager plastic curtain to separate (there is no tile or other water-proof edge) so impossible to not have water on the hard-wood floor and there is visible water damage (not shown in photos). Responsiveness of host very poor. We communicated the electrical short-circuit and no one ever came to assess/fix despite this a potential safety/fire hazard. There were precisely 3 wine glasses, one of which was badly cracked. Despite our being told someone would provide another glass, nothing ever showed up (and really, 3 glasses for a unit advertised for 6 guests). Response to an e-mail articulating above issues sent at 1:26 p.m. got a response at 5:36 p.m. stating it was after hours; phone call that host asserted was placed was not on my phone "recents." Overall, there's a sense that "expenses WERE spared" when putting this unit together and that there has been quite a bit of deferred maintenance; also despite assurances, none of our concerns were ever addressed.

Do not book if you want sound sleep

We were quite disappointed with our stay. The apartment walls were so thin you could clearly hear conversations of the guests in neighboring rooms. The stairs echo, the doors are loud, and you hear everyone coming and going. The broken sinks and dresser, extremely thin walls and noisy nights, lack of basic things like towel hooks, paper towels, and trash bags made it quite uncomfortable. There were few outlets for chargers and some of them didn't work. There were flies in the apartment when we arrived. There was no French press as stated in the listing. Positively, the location was wonderful, the shower was great and the beds comfortable. Thankfully we had great weather so we didn't spend much time in the apartment. The property manager was unresponsive when we expressed our discomfort. They initially replied they would send cleaners but they never came. This is the first time after using VRBO for years I've been disappointed and I've never written a negative review before. This listing was misleading and I hope we can spare other travelers the frustration we experienced.

Nice Neighborhood

This place is located in a nice neighborhood & we frequently walked to Chinatown & the Old Port. Two full baths & 3 bedrooms were very nice.

Not what we expected

Overall, we were disappointed with the Rue Ontario Apartment for the below reasons. Kitchen: - Oven hood covered in grease. - Kitchen Faucet is not actually connected to counter top; loose and unusable. - Garbage can lid missing - Top of refrigerator is filthy Front Bathroom: - Shower not clean - Towel rack broken off wall - Holes in wall where towel rack used to be Front Left Room: - Sheets not clean; several "fresh" smudges of women's makeup; had to wash sheets immediately upon arrival. - Door covered in dirty hand prints Front Right Room: - Someone's Contact Lenses left on end stand; presumably from previous guest. Electric outlets: - Simply not enough; insufficient for basic laptop and cell phone use, especially in back bedroom. Noise from Upstairs Neighbor Apartment: - Extremely loud, late into night. Guest (child) in that room was forced to move into other guest room with other guest. Living room: - Green chairs, with metal legs, we're not safe. Leg frame was bent, and guest did not know it; person fell backwards in chair. We had to warn everyone to NOT sit in these specific chairs. Parking: - Would have preferred that the parking situation be better described in the preview description on VRBO. - We did use the Library Parking Garage, which was overall acceptable.
