Fanore Lodge is nestled between the sea and Slieve Elva, set amid the wonders of Burren flora and its unique geology, offering views of the sea and the long sandy beach, three minutes from Fanore Lodge. There is a local surf school operating from the beach. The Caher River runs by the door, and the soothing sounds of water on rock can be heard from the house. Fanore Lodge is at the foot of the Caher Valley Nature Reserve. The Caher Valley and Caher River probably take their names from the fact that there are so many ring forts or cahers in the immediate vicinity. The house is ideally situated at the starting point of many hiking routes.
The house is protected as a historical structure and has been sympathetically and attractively furnished and decorated according to the period in which it was built. The owner is fond of art and there are paintings and prints of well known artists throughout the house and many images of the Burren.

'Fanore is a small seaside village on the north west coast of County Clare Ireland. It has a fine long beach and extensive sand dune system. It is a popular swimming place. The Caher River (the only river in the Burren to flow its entire course above ground) enters the sea here. This river travels down the Caher valley which is one of the Burren's finest sites for observing true Burren scenery as well as Burren Flora and geology.A small road runs along it course down the valley, which makes a fantastic route for a cycle or even better a hike.' (From http://www.clare-tour.com/area/Fanore/ ) 'The Burren is a limestone plateau occupying an area of over 100 square miles in North Clare. It is an area of scenic attractions where stone-grey hills and the valleys beneath reveal many prehistoric remains. The unfolding layers of limestone form terraces on the slopes of the hills and the area has been described as a 'lunar' landscape.' (From Shannon Region Trails) ...moreless
