This 1,000 sq ft condo is a 5 Star property at the Dana Point Headlands with PATIO AND LIVING ROOM FACING THE OCEAN with fabulous coastal views. This is the best that it gets! The Building was TOTALLY RENOVATED recently. You can relax on the patio with a drink and WATCH THE WAVES and if you are lucky, you can see the DOLPHINS playing in the surf. In the evening, you can watch the SUNSET over the ocean.
The building is owned by our family and we now have all four units on short term rental. Please contact us for more information on the other units which are not reflected on this site. The pictures here represent unit #2 or 'The Travertine' which was renovated in 2010 and has 2 bedrooms, one with a king size bed and the second with a queen. There is also a double bed in the living room with lots of pillows which makes an ideal place to watch sunsets and waves (with a fireplace nearby).
There is a large PATIO with a magnificient ocean view which leads into the great room with an open kitchen and dining room. The condo had two full baths and a washer and dryer INSIDE the unit. It is located on the GROUND FLOOR and is also accessible from the garage. This makes it especially easy to come into the unit if you are carrying suitcases or shopping bags. There are NO STAIRS. The unit is handicap accessible and is completely furnished with everything you need.
There is a table and 6 chairs on the large patio overlooking the ocean which is a great place to barbecue and have dinner on a summer night. and If you are lucky, you may see the dolphins!
The unit overlooks Strands Beach - just 1/4 mile south of the famed Ritz Carlton Hotel and Salt Creek Beach Park, and is located adjacent to the path to the beach on top of the bluff. It is very quiet, peaceful and safe. It is truly one of the most unforgetable spots you will ever find. The condo is furnished impeccably and has everything you could need for a vacation...You may think you are in the Ritz Carlton. ...just bring your toothbrush!
We also have THREE other UNITS, each with a different decor, AVAILABLE in the SAME BUILDING. The unit NEXT DOOR, #1 (THE MANDELA), 2 bedroom 1.5 bath is ALMOST IDENTICAL with the same view. My brother and I purchased this property in 1990. Bob was out running and found it and fell in love with the location. He told me about it and I also fell in love with the VIEW. Since then, we renovated the units, stay there occasionally and also rent them out for part of the year. Both Bob and I are in the medical profession. We love the tranquility and beauty surrounding our Dana Strands home. They are only a five minute walk to Starbucks, restaurants and cafes. They are furnished lovingly and contain original artwork. They are truly a jewel.

My brother and I were mesmerized with the VIEW from the property as it is simply SPECTACULAR. It is undoubtably one of the most striking views you will ever see - and that includes many from around the world. The entire property was completely renovated when we decided to make it a place where we could both go for long weekends or for a week with our families and friends. The HEADLANDS has some of the most expensive beachfront properties in Orange county. Our property is located on the edge of the BLUFF in the Headlands overlooking the ocean. It is the most ideal location at the Headlands as it is the signature property when you drive into the area. You will love it. There is also a funicular that goes down to the beach which is only a couple of minutes walk from the property.
This condo has a VIEW TO DIE FOR. You can watch dolphins play in the surf or watch SUNSETS from the patio. The path to the beach is adjacent to the property. Outside the door there are about 2 miles of ocean view paths in the Headlands Reserve where you can hike. The property is a 10 minute walk to the Ritz Carlton and St Regis Hotels. The Ritz Carlton has the same view as ours and the St. Regis is located about one half mile from the ocean and does not compare. The condo is a FIVE STAR lodging and has everything you need to make your visit truly remarkable.
We stayed at Jill's condo in April to celebrate my daughter's 18th birthday weekend. There were 4 of us in our family and it was perfect. The condo has the most glorious views and Strand beach below provided beautiful walks and sunsets every day we were there. The condo is well equipped and lovely. We actually loved the stairs to the beach. It was our daily workout, stairclimber! We even saw whales twice from our balcony during our stay. Jill and Nita were a pleasure to deal with and I hope to come back for a longer stay next time. You are also very close to restaurants and shops in both Dana Point and Laguna Beach. You must go to Stacks for breakfast. I highly recommend renting from her. We will be back!
The property was great and the amenities were perfect. And the Strand is one of the best beaches in So Cal! Jill was an excellent host, always very accomodating. We plan on coming back soon!
We had a lovely week at this condo in July 2016! You won't find a better location or view in Dana Point! The condo itself is comfortable and clean, and having Jill nearby for questions or concerns (not that we had many), is helpful. We would definitely recommend this condo/owner. What a great time we spent here. Everything was better than expected. The condo was so well equipped we had no need for anything. The views are probably the best you can get. The beach is great for surfing, boogie boarding, swimming or just chilling. Jill was there for any of our needs, a real ray of sunshine. Can't wait to return!
View and location are good, however other factors mar the experience; garage is full of furniture, Internet intermittent and weak, and next door residential construction begins before 7 am, and owners dogs (upstairs apartment) bark whenever she's away. Our holiday was particularly effected by owners onsite construction (noise and inconvenience), and investation of ants ( we declined pesticide because of our dog), and a number of issues which were fixable once we complained. If you choose this property, do your homework, ask for current photos, and be clear about your expectations and priorities.
We stayed for six weeks in Mandela, one of four units in this building. The view of Strand Beach and up the coast was spectacular. The condo was exceptionally clean and well
maintained. The kitchen was well equipped and a washer and dryer were in the unit. In addition to the beach there are lots of walking trails nearby. Sitting on the deck looking out
at the beach and ocean was a joy. Jill could not have been more helpful. We hope to return next year.
Property is adjacent to a path to one of the best beaches (Strands Beach) in Southern California. There is a wildlife preserve with hiking trails less than 500 yards away. The property is located on the Headlands Bluff with a stunning VIEW of the coast looking toward Laguna Beach. It is the best located property in the Headlands. There is a (funicular) tram that goes to the beach nearby if you do not want to walk.
