Pelican’s Perch STR23-0031

Pelican’s Perch is ideally located in the heart of Dana Point’s historic Lantern District and walking distance from restaurants, shops, beaches and the harbor. On the ocean side of Pacific Coast Highway, you are only minutes walking to the harbor or one of five beaches. Take your pick of restaurants at every price point on Del Prado, only a block away. Stroll through the historic Santa Clara neighborhood, where Pelican’s Perch is located, and see historic 1920’s homes sit side by side with modern beauties and enjoy overlooks and parks at the end of every street with gorgeous views of the harbor and ocean.

This second floor duplex guesthouse is newly constructed in 2023 and boasts an open plan living, dining and full kitchen, private patio/balcony, 2 bedrooms and one uniquely designed bathroom with separated toilet and shower compartments to allow multiple users while maintaining privacy. The professionally designed décor sets the mood for your luxuriously casual coastal getaway. The first bedroom has a king bed, two dressers, closet and a bench. The second bedroom can be set up with two twins or a king bed to suit your needs and also has two dressers, a closet and bench.

Common areas provide a grassy lawn, fire pit and outdoor kitchen with gas barbeque grill and electric smoker. Fruit trees and fresh herbs are shared when in season.

The unit also provides a one-car garage space and one additional on-site parking space.

Whether you enjoy water sports, whale watching and hiking; are a history buff or art lover; or love the night life, Dana Point will satisfy you. Located halfway between the amusement parks, art galleries and museums of Los Angeles and the parks, waterfronts and zoos of San Diego, Pelican’s Perch is the perfect destination for your Southern California adventure.

**Please note we have a VERY strict no smoking policy. This is a no smoking property. Absolutely no smoking of any kind (including vaping, candles or incense burning) in the unit, on the premises or in the neighborhood. (Dana Point has a no smoking in public spaces ordinance.) If caught smoking, you agree that you and your family, guests, etc. will immediately vacate the premises and forfeit the duration of your reservation, including rents, fees, etc. Additionally, an extra cleaning fee will be assessed.

**No pets. Please do not inquire if you can bring an animal. No exceptions will be made.**

The primary renter must be at least 25 years of age and reside on site for duration of the reservation.

**Please refer to our rental contract for our cancellation policy.** **Guests are required to sign our rental contract and provide proof of identification, either driver’s license or passport, prior to receiving access to the house.**

Excellent property

The property is new, clean, modern, well equiped, lots of light. The pictures shows exactly what we got. The location is the lantern district is close to everything. Great communication with the hosts.

Wonderful Gem in Dana Point

We had a wonderful stay! The property is brand new and impeccably clean, with a fantastic location just a short walk to the beach, restaurants, and shops. The hosts Cindy and Rick were extremely accommodating and friendly. We can’t wait to return!

Pelican's Perch was Perfect!

The space was immaculate and comfortable. Plenty of room inside and out. Easy access. We loved to be able to walk and explore: coffee shops, pick up pizza, people watch in the park, photograph the harbor below. Dana Point is very friendly.

Such an amazing property!

Beautifully decorated and fully loaded with all amenities! Located perfectly for walking downtown, down to Harbor as well as the local hiking trails. Rick and Cindy were wonderful hosts - very friendly and provided some great local recommendations. We will definitely be booking future visits!!

Amazing Stay!

Rick and Cindy are excellent hosts. Great communication and very nice and accommodating. The place is just as advertised. Great location, very clean, the kitchen is equipped with everything you need to cook, large clean garage (w/ boogie boards if you head down to Salt Creek Beach) + additional outdoor parking space. Key pad locks are all set to your preferred code. Lovely place and lovely hosts.

You'll Want to Come Back!

The property itself is modern, open while also providing privacy due to the second story level. Views of the ocean and spectacular homes, rich with history in the area. Fully equipped with all you need, and we appreciated that tea was fully stocked! Owners are incredibly friendly and helpful. We enjoyed walking the neighborhood, and were actually amazed at how many other people were out walking regularly. You do not feel like an outsider visiting this area, and everyone says, "Hello" as you pass. Walking distance to the beach, harbor, trails, great restaurants, shops, and coffee. We were travelling for a gymnastics event and spent some days at Disney. It was so nice to come home at night, feeling safe and secure in the dark with the garage space, convenient access, and private yard space. We hope to come back for another visit in the future!

Pelican’s Perch is a Perfect Place at the Point

Originally locals, we moved out of state for work and wanted to see our college age kids for Spring Break. When searching VRBO the photos caught our eye and when we read more, including the reviews we knew it was for us. What we didn’t realize was how amazing the property truly is… walkable to all our local spots, or a sunset view on the cliffs of the harbor. Plus Rick and Cindy were amazing! They could not have been more professional, polite, kind and supportive. This is more than a gem, it’s a diamond and now our only spot we’ll stay when we return. Lovely people who have put so much thought and care into the property to make it light, bright, functional and fun. The deck is a great space to have the indoor outdoor experience. No details were overlooked and surprises were everywhere including when we opened the refrigerator to find Rick had made us his special carrot cake that we enjoyed with our morning coffee. Enjoyed every minute and never wanted to leave!

Absolutely Perfect

We are still glowing after our 7-night stay in Dana Point, the highlight being our home away from home, Pelican’s Perch. The property is as stunning as the photos: bright, airy, comfortable and clean. Everything we could need or think of was already there, and the location was perfect. Walking distance to coffee shops, restaurants and a beautiful overlook of Dana Harbor. Rick and Cindy were the most gracious hosts. From ease of check in and out, restaurant recommendations, sharing their fresh produce, and the best part—helping to celebrate our son’s birthday with backyard s’mores!—they really made our trip special. We are so grateful for their kindness and hospitality. We can’t wait to return to Dana Point and Pelican’s Perch!

Lantern District Gem in Dana Point-beaches, dining, and more!

This is an amazing property centrally located in the Lantern District within Dana Point. Dining and a lovely farmer's market are right outside your door. Easy walking access to Heritage Park and local trails is just a quick turn the other direction. You have multiple wonderful beaches nearby including Doheny, Baby Beach and Strands as well as the Ocean Institute and Harbor area. Laguna Beach is a short 15 minute drive away if you want more shopping and art galleries. It's really all here in a beautiful and comfortable space. The rooms are spacious, and the kitchen is fully stocked. The outdoor areas are perfect either up on the balcony or in the backyard to eat or relax. Everything is new and perfect! Add in garage parking and access to the grill and outdoor firepit and you are guaranteed an amazing time here chilling out with family/friends! We'll be back again soon.

Great home, great location, great hosts

A lot of care has gone in to the property and guests. This is one of the best properties we have stayed in.The property is practically new and thought was put in to how to make it most comfortable for guests. Everything we needed was in the house and then some. The deck was nice for enjoying the weather. The yard was a beautiful spot to sit with gardens and privacy. The hosts (Rick and Cindy) were gracious, available and accommodating. Rick made a treat for us that was in the refrigerator on arrival. Cindy offered us access to fruit and herbs growing in the yard. The location was fantastic. Many restaurants within walking distance as well as parks and the wharf. We walked to the Christmas boat parade. The location is in a high end neighborhood. Typically I try to offer something to be improved for a balanced review, but in this case I really can’t think of anything.

Fabulous Property

Most recently, my wife and I were fortunate enough to have stayed at Pelican's Perch in Dana Point, CA. You will not be disappointed. The property is essentially a newly built private apartment located in the very best part of Dana Point. In fact, you really don't need a car since virtually everything is within walking distance (we are retirees). I am a clean freak and this property exceeded my expectations. Moreover, it includes a new private garage so parking is never an issue. This is an outstanding property and Cindy/Rick the hosts are even better !

Great Dana Point rental

We loved our two week stay at Cindy and Rick's rental. It was clean, comfortable, good beds, very quiet, well-stocked kitchen, great location around the corner from restaurants, coffee shops, and a block to views and a walk overlooking the the harbor and ocean. Our hosts were terrific, very responsive to our questions and requests. The space is newly renovated, decorated beautifully and includes a designated parking place/garage. We highly recommend staying in this charming rental and plan to return.
