Located just a 5-minute walk a beautiful public beach, this home is a modern, light-filled 2-bedroom, 1-bath getaway with partial views of Rosario Strait and the San Juans. Set on a large, private lot, Matia's high ceilings and open floor plan contribute to the wonderful feel and energy that many of our guests remark upon.
The fully-equipped kitchen is a chef's dream, with an oversized island perfect for cooking and entertaining. Both bedrooms offer comfortable queen-size beds and the bathroom features an oversized soaking tub with shower. A large deck makes for great outside dining in good weather, and overlooks a fire-ring area with lots of dry firewood for our guests. S'mores, anyone? Also available is a convenient electrical outlet and extension cord (on request) for overnight EV charging.
Safety features include fire extinguishers, smoke/carbon monoxide detectors, and a first aid kit.
*** Please note there is no gas station on Lummi Island and you will need to fill up before you arrive.
*** For guests traveling between April and June. The Whatcom Chief Ferry goes in-to dry dock for maintenance. This means that there is no substitute for a vehicle ferry service and the island is only accessible via ferry for foot passengers and bikes. Dry dock season typically lasts for about 3 weeks and exact dates are posted on The Whatcom County website. Please reach out and we can help you plan your stay!

Everything was wonderful! Well stocked, responsive owner, beautiful yard with incredible blooming flowers, amazing bathtub! We had a truly great stay and I'd highly recommend this spot to anyone looking!!
We loved our stay here and would absolutely rent this house again. The neighborhood is quiet, near a beautiful beach, and great for kids. Beds were comfortable, kitchen had everything we needed. Yard and deck were lovely and spacious.

Lovely Matia House
Very comfortable, pretty, and CLEAN house, well-equipped kitchen, clear instructions and helpful tips, quiet neighborhood, pretty water view in the distance, lovely walks down to the beach and just along the roads, we did have a partial power-outage which might have been a bigger deal if the weather had been nasty. Loved the Beach Store Cafe, had a delish (pricier) lunch at the Willows down the road, and just really enjoyed Lummi in the fall!
We LOVED this location and the house and definitely be back to Lummi! I’m fact we loved it so much we almost bought a property on Lummi that weekend.
The house is perfect for 2-4 people and has a great yard. Short walk to a nearly private beach (we saw two other people all weekend). It’s so peaceful and a surprising amount of privacy even for being in a cul de sac/residential neighborhood.

If was a wonderful retreat from the busy-ness of life!
The Matia House is carefully planned and tastefully appointed which made our stay delightful. The galley kitchen is fully equipped to make gourmet cooking easy. Everything we needed was there. Check this: Even professional kitchen knives to make mise en place a joy.
The bed and bath linens were delightful. The neighborhood is very quiet. The beds were very comfortable. I have not enjoyed such a restful sleep for years.
The appliances and fixtures are high quality. This house is so nice and well cared for; it is surprising that our hosts would dare to permit rental use. We came home with new ideas how to make our own home even better.
The gardens are a naturalized profusion of beauty. Our hosts thought of everything.
We could see our Scottish Terrier smile despite her full beard as she made herself at home.
