Why Andrea Bell chose Laurel Ridge

It all began as a quick weekend mountain vacation with our three children. We fell in love with the simplicity of a mountain vacation. No fuss, no schedules. After taking numerous vacations to the NC mountains and renting homes in all different areas with a variety of views, we finally visited Black Mountain and fell in love. The charm is the town of Black Mountain itself and its' proximity to the fine dining and shopping in Asheville, the numerous outdoor activities available and the ease of coming and going with easy access from I-40. It was a perfect fit.

What makes this house unique

We discovered Laurel Ridge, a gated community that still felt like a retreat. We decided to purchase this home because it offered the views we had fallen in love with, but also a yard where our children could run and play and we could host cookouts and marshmallow roasts galore! It had it all. The home has a rustic stone fireplace, wood floors and tongue/groove wood ceilings that give that mountain feel to our vacations. We love coming at all different times of the year, enjoying horseback riding, white water rafting, hiking, scenic leaf changes and cool, crisp weather. As high as we are, the temperature is usually 5-10 degrees cooler than the town area!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank you for the kind message in regards to Veteran's Day as we had 3 active duty officers staying here this weekend (2 Air Force and 1 Navy). We thoroughly enjoyed the stay. The house itself was exactly what we needed as it was secluded but still close enough to Black Mountain and Asheville to keep everyone busy. Just a few minor suggestions that I would like to propose is that you keep some small toiletries available (soaps, shampoos, etc) and trash bags. This was not a big deal, but something for the future as well. We once again had a great trip and would like to return in the spring/summer months if available. Have a great day and thanks for such a great weekend!

Beautiful Home and amenities..

We rented this mountain home for Thanksgiving. Tons of space for all of us. Nice large kitchen, amazing views. Not sure what to say other than if you are looking for a great place to get away from it all this is it.

Fantastic location and perfect for families

  • 5 of 5

The location of the house is perfect even though it is about a 12-15 minute uphill drive from Black Mountain so your car needs to be able to handle the steep inclines. We could easily get to Black Mountain and then into Asheville as well. The house had plenty of room for two families that included 5 small children, and the views of the mountains and lake were great. Andrea was very easy to communicate with and I would highly recommend this house to everyone that wants to "get away" for a long weekend like us but still have the convenience to be close enough to plenty of restaurants and shops. We would definitely like to return in the near future.

Beautiful Views!!

  • 5 of 5

Talk about living on top of a mountain! This property is way up a steep road in a gated community and once you get to the top, you appreciate why the house was built so high up :) The house has an incredible view of the mountains and lake down at the bottom. Inside - there's a great fireplace and multiple bedrooms/nooks to hang out.

Very beautiful home, plenty of available sleeping quarters, extremely secluded

  • 3 of 5

Extremely disappointed wifi didn't work. Modem wouldn't even turn on. With no cell signal- impossible to connect with rest of group. When the gate codes changed got in contact with owner who was very helpful in rectifying situation. Takes very long from gate to house.

Perfect fall getaway

  • 5 of 5

Black Mountain was charming and had everything we needed. Also enjoyed heading 20 minutes to Asheville for a nice dinner. The weather was perfect, great hiking in Montreat. The leaves are starting to change and we had some nice crisp weather. The house is in a gated neighborhood with lovely views and privacy during our stay. Thank you!

Wonderful View, Comfortable Bed, Great Stay

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay - we had 3 families (5 adults and 6 kids). There was enough room for everyone and we all had a really great time. Anyone looking to stay here in the winter needs to be aware that the drive way is very steep and the drive up the mountain is a little scary (at least for someone who grew up in the midwest). Kitchen was well stocked, loved the large deck and the view was stunning. Also we didn't realize there was so much in Black Mountain. What a cute town! Great restaurants and shops. Loved it!

Owner's Response: We are so glad you enjoyed our home and the town of Black Mountain. You can see why we fell in love with it! The beginning of the driveway is a little steep but there is ample parking at the garage as well as additional up by the side entry as well as a circle so that you can turn around easily. Should the weather be bad, there is also a parking pad at the top of the driveway. Thanks for your great review and please visit us again!
