We had a wonderful stay!! The house is great - clean, everything you need is at the house, great location you’re close (5-10 minutes) to everything in Blsck Mountain, very responsive owner. An excellent place to stay!!!
We loved Bear Cottage! It was the perfect location, close to dining, hiking and exploring. Also close to Asheville, as we were in town to see family. Place was clean, comfortable and well-equipped. It will be our go-to the next time we are in town.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolutely Perfect Stay!
Our family had an incredible time at Bear Cottage in Black Mountain, North Carolina! The house is absolutely beautiful—spotless, cozy, and so well taken care of. The host truly thought of every detail and provided everything you could possibly need—and so much more. Wow, what a wonderful surprise!
The neighborhood was peaceful and charming, yet just minutes from downtown Black Mountain. We loved how close we were to all the activities, restaurants, and shops. During our visit, the town hosted a dog costume parade and an art festival, which made our stay even more special and fun.
The local food scene is amazing, and we enjoyed exploring all the nearby dining options.
We’re so grateful for such a perfect getaway and can’t wait to stay at Bear Cottage again. Highly recommend—it’s a gem!
We were very please with our stay here. It was very very clean and well stocked. We wanted for nothing. It was quiet and just the right size for the two of us. The owner was quick to respond and accommodating. We will def be staying here again.
We enjoyed our stay at this beautiful home near Black Mountain’s downtown. It was a quiet neighborhood with a scenic view. Relaxing, refreshing and close to Hendersonville, Asheville, and Mills River.
My husband and I had such a nice time during our long weekend at this cute little bear cottage! The host was spectacular and very communicative and the house is adorable!
Beautiful, clean, open floor plan close to downtown Black Mountain
We had a blast and were so happy with the space -- very clean and very well stocked in every way! The location is very close to downtown. Not really walkable because of winding, narrow roads, etc., but it was literally a mile or so from lots of places we wanted to go in Black Mountain! We highly recommend hikes near Montreat, Open Oven restaurant for brunch, and My Father's Pizza for dinner! This location is also just a very short drive (15-20 minutes?) to Asheville.
If you're considering this place, just book it, don't hesitate. Our family had such a great time exploring Black Mountain and the surrounding area.
Bear Cottage was the perfect base to see and do everything we wanted: Hendersonville & Pinball Museum, the town of Brevard and waterfalls, Chimney Rock, Cherokee, The Smoky Mountains and the Cataloochee Valley, we even made it to Dollywood & Buccee's!!
The rental was very comfortable and had absolutely everything we needed. This was our first time to this part of the country so we had a lot of questions. Ryan was incredibly responsive and provided a wealth of information.
When, not if, we come back this is the only place we'll stay. - Thank you for helping our family create beautiful memories!
My family and I, four adults, stayed at Ryan’s place for the week of Christmas. It worked out perfectly for us. The house was clean and the kitchen had everything we needed. The guests bedrooms and master bedroom we’re on opposite ends of the house, which provided some privacy. We had Christmas dinner at the house and played games from the assortment provided. There was an Alexia and she was more than happy to play any music we asked for. Other than Christmas, we were out every afternoon and evening. The house is very close to downtown Black Mountain and you could even walk there on a nice day. Black Mountain has several good restaurants, breweries and shops. There’s even an awesome hiking trail called Lookout. The house is also within a quick drive to Asheville and Chimney Rock. Ryan was an awesome host and very responsive! We had no problems with the house, except for when we tried to get in the first time, which was user error. But Ryan was able to get us in without a problem. We would definitely use this house again and will recommend to friends.
