About Cleo Risser

My name is Cleo. I am the mother of 2 and currently live in Olympia, WA. I grew up in Lake Quinault and as an 18 year old, could not wait to leave. I attended college on the East coast near Boston, MA and found myself truly missing this beautiful place. I missed the trees, I missed the Pacific ocean beaches, I missed the stars, I missed the sound of the frogs at night and I even missed the ridiculous amounts of rain. I returned to Lake Quinault after college and shortly afterwards, married my best friend who shares my love for the area. We lived in the community for a few years operating his family's business. We moved to Olympia in 2002 to pursue our careers and are now only a 2 hour drive away from our vacation home.

Cleo Risser purchased this house in 1996

Why Cleo Risser chose Lake Quinault

My husband bought this property well before we built this home together. He recognized the unique beauty of this property sitting at the end of a dead end private drive with so many feet of private lake frontage. We built the home with the intent to live in the valley and operate his family's business. Our paths changed after a few years and we both opted to pursue different careers requiring a move to Olympia. My husband's parents moved into the home and slowly added on. They built the garage and apartment above, they added the spacious recreation room and the sunroom and the garage studio/exercise/game room. After we had our first baby, they retired and moved to Olympia to be near us. We feel grateful to be able to keep this beautiful home in our family while also providing the opportunity to share it with guests who also understand and appreciate the beauty of this unique area!. We visit this beautiful area as much as we can with our family; our two children and our dog love it!

What makes this house unique

The privacy of this property is second to none in the area. I cannot imagine finding another place like this....some of my favorite moments in life have been here...staying up all night laying on the lawn watching a meteor shower...listening to frogs while in the hot tub staring at the mountains across the lake....waking up and sitting with my coffee in the sunroom gazing at the picture perfect scene with a layer of fog reflecting in the lake like glass....sitting around a bonfire with my family and friends telling stories and laughing...teaching my kids to swim...watching the rain pour out of the sky like buckets as the lake level creeps up higher and higher and the electricity flickers during a fine winter storm while snuggled up inside with flashlights ready

Guestbook comments from the owner

All of the other rental properties in Quinault share beach access and are adjacent to other homes. This lovely home is the only one that offers complete privacy and seclusion.

Quiet, relaxing getaway

  • 4 of 5

Well kept, has all of the cooking items you could want. There is a big grassy area before the water so it wasn't stressful having kids around. It was actually wonderfully kid friendly, with toys and toddler beds. All of the decorations were high enough that enterprising toddlers can't reach them. Every time we went on the water it was quiet and serene, no motor boats (at least when we were there). I would definitely come again.

Summer vacation hideaway

  • 5 of 5

This is a fantastic place to stay on the Olympic Peninsula. It is quiet, private and the views are breathtaking. The views of the lake and mountains is beautiful. We come here to relax before the summer ends and it is the perfect place to do just that. Great for star viewing. I especially love the kitchen as I can take the time to make gourmet meals. The owners responded quickly to questions I had. We plan to come back.

Wonderful, relaxing family get together.

  • 5 of 5

My adult children and I spent 4 days in a very relaxing atmosphere. The house and above garage apartment worked just right for us. The sun room was our favorite spot, especially in the evening. The kitchen was well furnished. A cousin and his family joined us for dinner one night, we cooked out another and had breakfast there with more than enough space and utensils. We also had outside fires 2 nights and this was very enjoyable. There was just enough activity in the area to keep us as busy as we wanted to be during the day. And the weather in July was fantastic. I do hope we can come again. Thank you.

Picturesque outdoors and stunning cabin!

  • 5 of 5

My friends and I stayed here for a weekend away and could not have loved it more. The photos do not do it justice. Both the main cabin and two studios were immaculate and updated and was the perfect amount of space for all of us. The house came equipped with most essentials in the kitchen - way more than I have ever seen with a rental. The hot tub, deck, grill and fire pit made being outside at night very enjoyable. And of course you can't beat the huge lawn area that goes right into the lake. It was really wonderful and we are already trying to find a time where we can return!

A Wonderful Cabin!

  • 5 of 5

We had 8 adults, 2 children, and 2 infants. All of us fit very comfortably in this beautiful cabin. The cabin was very well cleaned and stocked when we arrived. The property was beautiful. We had access to the lake for our canoe, multiple fire pits, a large grass area for pictures/games, a great hot tub, and plenty of parking for well beyond the four cars we brought. Although there were other cabins in the area, this property was very secluded. We felt like we had the entire lake to ourselves. There were many little things that went a long way to enhance our trip. My daughter loves Thomas the Train, and Cars. She was super excited when she saw her bed had a Thomas Comforter and there was a cars blanket with "Lightning McQueen" that she used as well. Also she loved the Treasure Chest full of toys. We absolutely loved this property. Our only regret is that our time was so short. I would suggest a 10 day stay!
