Lake Quinault's #1 Get Away! Two Miles from Lake Quinault Lodge.

Bedrooms 4
Space 2,500 sq ft
Property type house

About the property

4 Bedroom, 2 Bath Ranch Style Cedar Rambler On 5.2 Acres In The Quinault Valley

The River's Edge is Lake Quinault's #1 Get-Away ! Year after year, we are booked solid from April through September! Book it while dates are available!

Enjoy this ranch-style cedar rambler in Lake Quinault in the heart of the Quinault Rain Forest - Home to the Roosevelt Elk. The home sits on 5.2 acres on the South Shore Road of Lake Quinault (2.5 miles up the Quinault Valley from the Lake Quinault Lodge).

The mountain views are spectacular and the home is perfect for those that love the outdoors as the Quinault River, known for its world class fishery, flows directly behind the property. Our property boasts several resident elk herds, abundant wildlife and is a steelhead fisherman's dream. With four bedrooms and two bathrooms, the home is ready for a family or the next get-away retreat for those wanting out of the city lights to a place where the stars shine and the elk bugle.

The home is recently remodeled (absolutely gorgeous) with a wood stove insert, hardwood floors and an incredible kitchen with double oven, gas range, stainless steel appliances and floor-to-ceiling custom cabinetry. The kitchen was designed for home-canning with deep sinks, long counters and a 6-top gas range.

Two family rooms, large laundry room and mud room, and large cedar deck with built in propane and Stainless BBQ make this Lake Quinault's #1 get away retreat. Enjoy the large back yard perfect for whiffle ball and complete with a fire pit for those evenings of star watching, strumming the guitar, telling stories, roasting marshmallows and eating smores!

The River's Edge also boasts a large back yard for tent camping. We have the perfect spot for a family reunion, weddings or large gatherings. *Inquire for special pricing for large parties and weddings.

The River's Edge is not on the river. We chose this house name because of the history of our home (It's quite a story, one that can be found in the welome book upon arrival). The house is 2.5 miles from the Lake and a short walk away to access to the river. Email us and we will let you know how to access the river bar for miles of exploring!

About Kellie Daniels

The Daniels Family - Corey and Kellie Daniels and our four sons, Cameron (not shown in this picture away at college) Cole, Carson and Casey.

In 2002, Corey and I (both avid outdoor enthusiasts) sold our Sammamish home, quit our jobs and moved to Lake Quinault to escape the 'rat race' and live in God's country where we wanted to raise our boys. Yes, our Seattle friends thought we were crazy (actually they thought we had lost our minds!) until they came to visit and didn't want to leave!

Corey and the boys and I have spent the last several years living the dream until recently when Corey's job forced a move. Determined to keep our little piece of heaven so that we could return as often as possible, we decided that our best option was to share our home with others wanting the same thing we did - to escape the city lights to a place where the stars shine and the elk bugle. It was an easy decision and we only hope you and yours will enjoy it as much as we do.

Kellie Daniels purchased this house in 1995

Why Kellie Daniels chose Quinault

The River's Edge home is Lake Quinault's #1 Get-Away Retreat.

Our property is home to several resident elk herds in the Quinault Valley. The elk are probably our favorite feature and we never get tired of seeing them. Herds as large as 50 roam the Quinault Valley throughout the year. There is nothing better than sitting on our deck with a cup of coffee watching the young elk calves play in our field on a warm summer morning.

Our property is the largest rental property in the Lake Quinault area and we're pleased to be able to share it. Four bedrooms, two baths, two family rooms, a state of the art kitchen, large laundry room, office and the cozy rock fireplace with wood stove insert make this a year-around retreat.

Each season brings a new experience and we are happy to share.

*World Class Steelhead Sport Fishery out our back door!

*Bald Eagle Viewing like you have ever seen before.

*Resident Roosevelt Elk herds and Wildlife Photography are a daily adventure.

*Hiking and Nature Trails into the Olympic National Park, Colonel Bob Wilderness and USFS are within walking distance from our home.

*Lake Quinault is home to the Southern Entrance of the Olympic National Park and our property is on the famous 31 mile Quinault loop drive where you will enjoy the Quinault Rain Forest and all its wonders.

*Our home is only 2.5 miles from the Historic Lake Quinault Lodge and 1.5 miles from the World's Largest Spruce Tree located at the Rain Forest Resort and Salmon House Restaurant.

*Writer's Retreat. Our home serves as the ultimate writer's retreat. Book an extended stay and enjoy the tranquil setting as you dig deep and write your next novel. Our home is equipped with WI-FI. Yes, our home is the perfect get-away for anyone with a dream and story to tell.

Our home is far from the city lights, interstate, traffic jams and 3 hour commute. Join us where the air is clean, stars shine and elk bugle!

What makes this house unique

Lake Quinault's #1 Get-Away Retreat!

Enjoy steelhead fishing on the Upper Quinault right out our back door from December to March. The Upper Quinault River is known for its World Class sport fishery. Our favorite guides live in the area and we would be honored to set you up with a great trip. Weekly fishing trips are also available and our home serves as a great 'home base' if you seek to fish the other popular Olympic Peninsula Rivers including the Hoh, Clearwater, Sol Duc or Lower Quinault River. Fly fishing is becoming ever so popular and our property is just a short 5 minute walk to the rivers edge.

Lake Quinault is home to the Roosevelt Elk. You can view the resident elk herds year-around. April and May kick off the spring season when the grass grows and the elk emerge in the many fields on the South Shore Road including our property where the elk slumber just off the rivers edge. Grab your camera and join us for an incredible opportunity to hike, explore and view the Quinault Rain Forest and abundant wildlife in our area.

May kicks off our peak season. Four bedroom, 2 bath, two family rooms, large laundry room and mud room, office and large cedar deck with built in propane and Stainless BBQ make this Lake Quinault's #1 Get-Away retreat.

The Quinault Rain Forest is home to the Southern entrance of the Olympic National Park. Hike and explore our Temperate Rain Forest and all its wonders. Day hikes, river walks, and picnics at the river's edge are all a must do while staying at our beautiful home.

Perfect combination of quaint and modern

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time at River's Edge. It was exactly as expected...a comfortable, quaint rural home with modern conveniences, located in a beautiful setting. Clean and in great condition, with easy proximity to everything in the area. Would definitely stay here again.

Remote...but with the comforts of home and modern amenities.

  • 5 of 5

Very comfortable and cozy get-away. Felt like home, but without the stress of it. Beautiful, picturesque view out of each window...a setting which feeds the soul and offers perspective to the many complexities of this life. Very enjoyable!

House was fine with quirks, but owner ignored our messages

  • 1 of 5

We had paid extra for additional people but ended up with a much smaller group. It's a good thing that there were only 7 of us in the house because even though we paid for extra guests weeks in advance, there were still not enough bath towels or toilet paper. The only air mattress in the house (the vrbo description says there are two) does not hold air. I have seen other complaints about this in the reviews, so, clearly it's been a problem for a while and never fixed/replaced. It's a nice large clean house in a quiet area fairly close to some wonderful places to visit. It has it's quirks; internet is slower than slow, no cell service and no back-up house phone for emergencies, remote for the only tv doesn't work, one of the 6 dining room chairs is broken, hot water cuts in and out for showers, no kitchen towels when we got there, but, overall not a bad place. If the owner could pay a bit more attention to some of these easily remedied details it would be worthy of a higher rating. . Although I sent many emails and texts to the owner, after they got their full payment, they stopped responding. Maybe the "For Sale" sign in the yard explains their lack of communication.

Owner's Response: Hi Rebecca, I was sure surprised to see this review, especially after communicating with you on several occasions. Let me try and respond to your concerns. 1. Air mattresses were check by our housekeeper Anna before your arrival and I was told all was in working order. My apologies if they were not up to your standards. 2. Internet is very slow in our entire area. We have the fastest internet that is available in our rural area and this outlined on our VRBO site that internet is not reliable. It's a bummer for sure, but one can access the internet for checking social media, emails and the like. This is not something we cannot control as homeowners. 3. Cell phones also do not work well as we are in the Quinault Valley, this is also noted and part of being in a remote Rain Forest setting. Locals also have very limited reception. One does get reception in our home in the kitchen and on the back deck. It is spotty though and nothing as homeowners that we can control. 4. There is in fact a back up land line phone for emergency use or collect calls. This is located in the living room next to the lamp with the house phone number so that family can call you in the event our guests need reached. 5. The kitchen is well stocked with all kinds of towels. In fact, our kitchen probably gets the best reviews for being so well stocked, right down to spices, free coffee, and all the cooking basics. You would have found these kitchen towels and wash clothes in the pull out drawer next to the coffee pot. I estimate over 8-10 hand towels and cloths. 6. The TV remote may have needed new batteries and we have extra batteries provided in the linen closet to the right of the kitchen. My apologies that you had to use the volume control button on the TV. 7. Thank you for bringing attention the broken chair in the kitchen. We have removed it and it is being repaired. These are things we don't know unless guests bring them to our attention. 8. Sometimes the hot water may cut out but for only seconds. We have a state of the art in-line hot water system which means that our guests have unlimited hot water and it never runs out. This is a wonderful thing when you have large parties who all need showers. This upgrade was a big investment but one that our guests love! I hope this helps address your concerns. We spoke and I replied on three different occasions about your stay and always communicated. I'm a bit confused as to the review. Thank you, Kellie

Great house for a family reunion!

We really enjoyed our stay at River's Edge. The house was very clean and well-equipped. There was plenty of room for family members to hang out with each other to play games or talk. We really appreciated the washer/dryer and nice kitchen. Thanks.

A relaxing time

  • 4 of 5

If you want to stay in this area and you have a larger group, this house is well worth investigating. Plenty of grounds around a location that is just a few minutes drive from the local stores etc. The beauty of this is that you can get to things quickly but have virtually no passing traffic. It's a quiet, relaxing location and has an ambiance to match. The layout is flexible and the property is well maintained. The large deck and gas BBQ are a real bonus and another nice touch is that everyone seems to leave excess none perishables behind so there's a good stock of herbs etc if you decide to have an evening in and cook. All in all a good property to use as a base to strike out from if you want to explore the local area or to turn off the phone and watch the stars.
